special, thanks to the work of an energetic volunteer
committee and a great speaker. (See front page story)
We thanked Roger Martell for his terrific work as

for the next year. Both individuals personify the qualities

      Good News for Non-Profit Agencies
ICF’s Charitable Gift Annuity Program can help your non-profit organization build for the future. You may
have considered offering such a program yourself, but declined to do so due to the cost and burden of main-
taining this type of program. The Idaho Community Foundation can help. In addition to offering charitable gift
annuities which will ultimately benefit ICF, the Foundation is partnering with non-profit organizations wishing
to offer gift annuities as a tool to build their own endowments, and to secure direct financial support for their
      programs.
With a gift annuity, the donor gives cash or other assets to the Idaho Community Foundation and, in
exchange, receives fixed payments (usually in quarterly installments). The size of the payments depends on
the size of the contribution and the age of the person(s) receiving the annuity. The payments may be made to
the donor, a spouse, or someone else, such as a parent, sibling or friend.
Here’s how the partnership works: If your non-profit organization brings a potential annuitant to the Idaho
Community Foundation, we will issue and manage a charitable gift annuity and make the annuity payments to
the named annuitant(s) for life. Once all of the annuity payments have been made, up to one half of the
remainder can be paid to your organization as a direct contribution. The residual of the remainder will be
placed in an ICF endowment fund to benefit your organization. In the event this residual portion does not
meet minimum ICF endowment fund size requirements (in effect at the time the annuity terminates), the
charity will be given the opportunity to contribute additional funds to meet the minimum requirement.
Otherwise, the residual will go to an ICF endowment to support charitable needs throughout Idaho.
We encourage you to add this program to your list of possibilities as you work with your constituents. If you
have any questions regarding the exciting possibilities that a charitable gift annuity component could bring to
your fundraising efforts, please contact the Foundation by phone at 208-342-3535 or 1-800/657-5357 or send
      us an email at info@idcomfdn.org.

separate application process (not tied to ICF’s regular competitive grant
cycle). The following funds are currently accepting applications:
Ifft Foundation Fund
Accepting grant applications for consideration by the advisors to this fund,
which was created to benefit charitable projects in Southeastern Idaho and
the greater Pocatello area. Grant requests are considered twice a year, in
March and August. The deadline for fall applications is August 15, 2003.
The deadline for spring applications is March 15, 2004. For application
guidelines, go to www.idcomfdn.org/grants.htm or call 1 800-657-5357.
Geography Knowledge Fund
Accepting applications for mini-grants for consideration by the advisors to
this fund, which was created to further the study of geography in Idaho
classrooms. This year, grants of up to $300 each will be considered for
middle school and junior high school classrooms. The deadline for applica-
tions is October 31, 2003. For application guidelines, go to
www.idcomfdn.org/grants.htm or call us at 1-800-657-5357.
