Member Successes

Two Area 33 young riders - Carla Chamberlain (of Sutton St Nicholas, Hereford; pictured with her
superstar mare Nederland Lady) and Falon Harper (of Astley, Stourport with her mare Sanita) -
have been selected for the West Midlands Regional Foundation, having attended viewing trials
earlier in the year.
The aim of the foundation, which has been set up through funding from Sport England and is being
co-ordinated by the British Equestrian Federation (BEF), is to identify up and coming talented riders
who are not currently on the BEFs World Class Programme.

Both have recently taken part in the first two training sessions with Fred Bergendorff and have found
them very helpful and are now incorporating the work into their daily training – we look forward to
hearing about their successes in 2010.

Katie Fletcher of Tenbury Wells, headed both the Blue Chip Sparkle JC/JA and the Coral qualifiers
at Barleyfields EC on her mother’s 7 year old Cadulle who was bought 18 months ago from Dan
Thompson.

Please continue to keep us informed of your successes!

Area 33 2009 Points Championship

As promised earlier in the year, Area 33 will be awarding Points Prizes for 2009. Collecting
information to award points has proved a bit of a nightmare, therefore we request that members
wishing to be considered for the awards email (bsja-area33@hotmail.co.uk) or post (Woodside
Heights, Shrawley, Worcester WR6 6TF) their BSJA print outs (including double clears gained) for
the period January to December 2009 inclusive. These can be obtained from the BSJA website – log
in is required. Closing date will be 14 th February 2010.

Points will be awarded to horse / pony and rider combinations for placings and double clears
achieved. Double points will be awarded for placings at Area 33 Shows and Treble points to seniors
placed in the Area 33 Championship Classes.

Separate awards will be made to Juniors and Seniors. Prizes will be awarded at the AGM.

2010 Area 33 Show

Plans are commencing for a 2010 Area Show. However in order to make this successful, we need
assistance from Area members. Over the years many members have kindly sponsored classes at the
Area show and we would be grateful to anyone who would consider this for the 2010 Show: without
sponsorship, we cannot run an area show.

Additionally, it is YOUR show. So please let us know which classes you would like to see that would
ensure you would support.

We will be looking for volunteers to help on the day – pole pickers, secretary, etc nearer the time.

2010 BSJA Ball

This will be held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham on Tuesday 6 th April. Tickets are £80 per
head and include a 4 course dinner. Dress code is black tie. Bookings are in tables of either 10 or 12
but if Area 33 members are interested in attending, we will look to combine numbers and book a
table on your behalf. We already have 8 people who are interested so a few more would be more
than welcome! Last year’s ball was thoroughly enjoyable and very entertaining - a chance to rub
shoulders with the stars of our sport.

Training

Area 33 will continue to run training sessions during 2010. The date of the next session is still to be
confirmed but if you are interested in attending training, indeed working towards the BSJA Star
Training Award, please contact Claire Hill @ cerk.hill@virgin.net. Those who achieve 3 star level
will qualify for a final at Scope.

Training is open to both juniors and seniors, and groups will be arranged accordingly.

Saddle Fitting

Please note that one of our members, Caroline Wilde, is a qualified saddle fitter and has kindly
offered to check Area 33 members saddles free of charge when at shows. Please visit her website at
www.saddle-fitter.co.uk for contact details.
