Visible gold in winner sample from the mineral hunt 2007

Ujarassiorit the national mineral hunt for amateur geologists has now ended for      File nr.

the year 2007. This year a total of 840 rock samples were submitted and 251 of       Postboks 930

the 1 prize of DKK 55,000 tax-free. Besides having a very high gold content

(about 0.7 % gold) the sample also had high values of silver, lead, zinc, cobber,
manganese, mercury and arsenic.

The sample was discovered in an area in the Nuuk Bay where this type of
occurrence has not earlier been found. The sample is taken from a rock found lying
on the beach and is therefore not necessarily from the site of discovery.

The 1 prize winner was Rasmus Thomassen from Nuuk. He receives DKK 30,000
from the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum and DKK 25,000 from the Bank of
Greenland Industrial Fund.

The Minister of Mineral Resources Kim Kielsen states: This years 1 prize is very
interesting as the gold value is one of the highest measured in Greenland. The
sample is therefore presumably of interest for the mineral industry.

The 2 prize winners receive DKK 20,000 tax-free; DKK 12,500 from the Bureau of
Minerals and Petroleum and DKK 7,500 from the Bank of Greenland Industrial
Fund. The two winners were:

    ·        Pele Maratse from Kulusuk for a rock sample with a high gold content
             found at Sermiligaaq, East Greenland.
    ·        Mikael Jeremiassen from Kangaatsiaq for at rock sample with high values
             of molybdenum and manganeese found near Kangaatsiaq, West
             Greenland.

Three tax-free 3 prizes of DKK 7,000 from the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum
were awarded:

    ·        A rock sample from the Kulusuk area, East Greenland, with a high content
             of gold and cobber. The sample was submitted by Enok Abelsen from
             Tasiilaq.
    ·        A rock sample from the Oqaatsut area, West Greenland, with high values
             of iron, lanthanum and gallium. The sample was submitted by Malene
             Siegstad from Ilulissat.
    ·        A rock sample from the Nuuk area, West Greenland, with corundum
             crystals of the sapphire type. The sample was submitted by Ole Vittus
             Lynge from Nuuk.

There were two 4 prizes of DKK 2,000 tax-free from the Bureau of Minerals and
Petroleum:

    ·        A rock sample from the Alluitsup Paa area, South Greenland, with high
             gold and cobber values. The sample was submitted by Louise Jacobsen
             from Eqalugaarsuit.
    ·        A rock sample from the Sermiligaaq area, East Greenland, with high gold
             values. The sample was submitted by Simujoq Nathanielsen from
             Sermiligaaq.

Ujarassiorit is a national mineral hunt for amateur geologists, who can mail natural
rock samples postage paid from any post office in Greenland for further geological
analysis.

Ujarassiorit is run by the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum, the Greenland Home
