We offer a range of courses and qualifications for those already in work, as well as those

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT all onlin
New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 6) (online or flexi-study)
A range of business courses can be studied either online or via flexi-study, providing
a broad base of business knowledge and skills in areas such as communications, law,
marketing operations and economics.
National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) (online)
This online qualification recognises the skills and knowledge expected of people
seeking positions as team leaders, supervisors, charge hands, or first-line managers.
Certificate in Forest Operations (Level 3)
Gain a broad background of practical forestry knowledge and skills enabling you to
progress into employment or on to higher forestry qualifications.
Carpentry, engineering and farming are based at the Tokoroa Trades Training Centre,
Braeside Avenue, Tokoroa.
Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4)
Gain a broad knowledge and skill base to work as an apprentice/assistant tradesperson
in the construction industry.
Certificate in Engineering and Automotive Skills (Level 2) NEW!
This certificate combines both engineering and automotive skills, bringing real
skills for the real world. It is particularly relevant if you wish to pursue a career in
general engineering or the automotive trades. The engineering and NEW automotive
workshops are based at the Tokoroa Trades Training Centre.
Certificate in Agriculture and Farm Maintenance (Level 3)
This certificate covers general farming skills such as dairy farming, using farm vehicles,
handling and treating livestock, fencing and basic farm maintenance tasks.
Hairdressing is based at our fully operational salon in Rosebery Street and provides the
skills and knowledge required for a junior (level 2) or intermediate (level 3) trainee position
in a hairdressing salon.

Hospitality is based at Tokoroa Club’s main restaurant and kitchen, Chambers Street, Tokoroa.
Certificate in Café Operations (Level 3)
This certificate produces versatile food and beverage service and production staff who will
have the fundamental skills and knowledge to work in café-style operations.
Certificate in Professional Chef’s Craft (Level 3)
Gain the technical skills and basic culinary knowledge in order to fulfil a food production role
in a range of catering operations.
WORK AND LIFE SKILLS
Certificate in Work and Life Skills (Level 1)
This qualification provides work and community skills for people who experience intellectual,
physical or mental health issues. While studying this full-time, two-year certificate, students
are able to study employment skills units at NZQA Levels 1 and 2 as elective courses.
Students may also enrol separately on the employment skills courses as a part-time option.
Diploma in Te Reo M¯
aori (Level 5)
Twenty full-tuition scholarships (student association fee applies) are available for this diploma
starting in February 2010. Students do not need to have previous Te Reo M¯ aori experience to
Certificate in Smart Study (Level 4)
Prepare for further study at diploma and degree levels such as in nursing, early childhood
education and social work. The certificate will be tailored to suit the needs of Pacifika people
and will be offered as a night class and some weekend workshops.
MOVING ON (bridging course) – No Fees
This one-semester course is particularly suited to students with few or no NCEA credits and
some learning gaps in literacy and/or numeracy, or for those who have experienced barriers
to secondary schooling. Moving On helps students earn more NCEA credits which may be
needed to enrol in tertiary study or enter an apprenticeship.
