Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

                                                                     Year 11 English Activities
Members of the English Faculty are pleased to be able to offer Year 11 students the following activities that will enrich and
support their learning. These activities are a vital part of their study of VCE English and are designed to extend their
knowledge and skills.

There are two events in which the students will be involved:

1. Viewing the film text Beneath Clouds and attending a follow up lecture by an ACMI lecturer. This is the primary text for
our major ‘Context’ study, an essential feature component of the VCE Unit 2 English curriculum. Students will view the
film and then listen to a lecture given to them by ACMI’s Education Officer; students will be expected to take notes.
Please note the following important details:
 ACMI Centre - Federation Square
      Tuesday 23rd March
 Students are required at school at 8am for roll call
      Depart for train: 8.15
 Arrive at Flinders Street station by 9.35 for film commencing at 10.00am
 STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH AS THERE IS NO OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE FOOD
      Train returns by 3pm
      Cost - $20

2. Attending a dynamic and interactive performance of Macbeth by William Shakespeare (at Lilydale High School)
      Monday 10th May
      Cost - $10

Total cost for activities $30. Please enclose money and indemnity form in an envelope with the student’s name and class
and return to the General Office by Wednesday 18th March.

It is expected that all students will take part in these educative and entertaining experiences as part of their ongoing
learning. If for any reason payment cannot be made by this date, please contact the Business Manager Ms Dawn Collins,
so that your child can be included.

Yours faithfully,
Janine Sayers

Parents/Guardians need to be aware that excursions/camps may be cancelled at short notice at any time if conditions for students or staff are deemed by the school to
be dangerous. Lilydale High School always puts the safety of its community above all other conditions. Whilst every measure would be taken to ensure parents are notified
as soon as the decision is made, there will be times when the nature of the event means that only minimal notice can be given. Information will also be placed on the
school website www.lilydale.hs.vic.edu.au Unfortunately, parents need to be aware that money may not be able to be fully refunded where a payment has been made
in advance to an organisation or service provider. We appreciate your co-operation and understanding in this regard.
