25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat or
drink; or about your body, what you
will wear. Is not life more important
than food, and the body more
important than clothes?
Mt 6:25
      Worry
         Feeds on anxiety
         Worrying means spending a lot of time
          thinking about negative possibilities.
         People who worry:

- Find it difficult to concentrate
- Feel helpless and unable to cope
- Lose confidence
- Experience disturbed sleep and eating patterns
- Develop obsessional behaviours
- Get headaches, stomach upsets (‘butterflies’)
- Feel emotionally drained
        Jesus commands (Mt 6:25)

           Don’t worry about life (food/drink)
           Don’t worry about body (cloths)
           God does not fail the birds and lilies
We worry because of:

• Poor understanding of real values of life & body (v25) –
• (Lu 12v32-34 Real treasure – earthly or heavenly?)
• Unbelief (ye of little faith – pagans run after such v 30-32)
• ‘Others focused’ instead of ‘God focused’ (v 32,33) / Mt 10v19
• Consumed by tomorrow, not dealing with today (v34)
• Wrong perception of the value of worry (FOF) – natural v pathological
Serious effect of worry

   We make wrong choices – Martha
    Lu 10:41
   Ultimately can destroy the seed of
    life – Mt 13v22
22The one who received the seed that fell among
  the thorns is the man who hears the word, but
  the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of
  wealth choke it, making it unfruitful
The answer to worry
Philippians 4:4-9

   Rejoice always v4
   In everything, by prayer, petition and
    thanksgiving present your requests to
    God v 6
   Peace will guard your hearts and minds in
    Christ Jesus
   Put some things into practise – Think
    about – noble, true, pure, lovely,
    admirable, excellent, praiseworthy
   God of peace will be with you
