IBC2006: Product and Technology Preview
“… Broadcasters want to use the best available technology and for these different tools to talk to
each other. So a critical factor in the company's recent success has been the ability to integrate
the best of breed tools - from other manufacturers as well as from EVS - into the system. For
instance at the World Cup, whilst the host broadcasters were delighted to depend on EVS at the
heart of all the production, they also wanted to use other tools for advanced post production
such as an Avid. On the stand at IBC (Booth-8.191) we'll demonstrate in the new Partners'
Village area how our material is interchanged seamlessly between EVS servers and the most
popular post production solutions. …” (Click for more)

EVS contributions to broadcast industry
EVS not only takes part in most broadcast tradeshows and brings the ultimate solutions in
studio/OB productions but also shares the concept of Instant Tapeless Technology during the

Our system solutions were extensively integrated in big sport events such as FIFA World Cup
2006, Roland Garros Tennis Open or Tour de France. We provided all-round services support
including the operational and technical training carried out in the earlier stage of the events.
And progressively, the Asia-Pacific support center which is ideally located in Hong Kong offers a
series of product presentation/training to local customers as well as the valuable customers and
business partners in the region. At the same time, on another side of the world, EVS Italy is
growing in a similar fashion.

D. Product Highlights

XSTREAM: Record Iso cameras onto XT[2] and bring your medias immediately to post
                           production environment

EVS has developed this new application to improve the efficiency of the export and portability of
his XT[2] recorded media.
For each production, multi-camera feeds and also the director’s cut would be recorded
at the same time. Those recorded feeds will be sent to post-production and kept as
master copies. EVS has a new innovative solution (XT[2] & XStream) to address this
        requirement.

Studio Production
As soon as the recording process starts, the material is simultaneously ingested on the
local storage of the XT[2] server as well as transferred onto the shared storage of the
station. The XStream, acts as a gateway to post-production and is responsible to carry
out all the copy or transfer tasks while XT[2] server is ingesting. Once the recording is
finished, the medias are instantly available on the station share storage for post-
production by NLEs like Avid, Quantel and Final Cut pro.

Outside Broadcast Production
The process for the outside broadcast production environment is very similar to the one
is studio. The major difference in play is the transfer of media trough removable HDD
instead of a direct transfer to NLEs shared storage. Inside the OB, as soon as the
recording process starts, the material is simultaneously ingested on the local storage of
the XT[2] server as well as transferred on the removable hard disk drives of the XFile.
XStream automatically copies the incoming sources just ingested to its removable
drives. Seconds after finished the recording, all converted materials stored on the
removable drives of XFile are ready to be moved to post-production.
The removable hard disk drives are easily attached to NLES or Central storage back at
the station. Just bring the hard disk drive and insert into a portable XFile adaptor. It will
connect the removable support via USB2 to the NLEs directly or to the shared storage.
