Auto Resurrection brings rare Mustang back to life
   Klaus Hoffmann was extremely lucky to
have located a body shop willing to undertake
the body and paint work he desired for his
                        prized       1965      Ford
                        Mustang GT.
                           The reality is that the

                        shops avoid old cars like
                        the plague, preferring
                        instead to service owners
                        of late model vehicles

   It was this love of classic cars that resulted in
Sommerfeld taking the plunge and going
out on his own in 2003. Business
has been brisk and in two
short years his capable
hands have refinished a
stable of classics with per-
fect bodylines and killer
paint jobs.
   The shop’s motto is “we
bring your classic back to
life,” and Sommerfeld
painstakingly refinishes
each vehicle one at a
time. This isn’t the type
of shop where the owner
works on your car on
evenings and weekends for
a      couple       of      years.
Sommerfeld devotes all of his
time to his classic customers and
had Hoffmann’s car painted and polished
to perfection in just three weeks.
   Hoffmann has owned his rare GT since
1992. Over the years he figures he has owned
seven or eight Mustangs. After selling off his
hockey card collection, he literally scoured the
planet for a GT fastback before discovering
this beauty for sale right here in Winnipeg.
   The car had been imported from the States
in ’83 and received a detailed restoration in
the mid-’80s. It has been Hoffmann’s daily
summer driver since ’92. A minor fender ben-
