Stand Alone Firearms Licensing
Program Description This 'Stand Alone' program is designed to meet the Queensland Police, Weapons Licensing Branch,
Firearms Licensing requirements to attain a Security Licence (Guard).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to Weapons Act Licensing requirements you must be 18 years of age to
undertake this program. A person is ineligible to hold a Weapons Act Licence if, within the past five
years, they have been convicted of offences including misuse of drugs, or weapons, and the use or
threatened use of violence. A person is ineligible to hold a Weapons Act Licence if they are or have
been the subject of a domestic violence order in the past five years.
Career This program coupled with the CPP20207 Certificate II in Security Operations and the Certificate III
Opportunities Cash in Transit competencies, forms the Queensland minimum statutory requirement for
employment within security environments requiring the carriage of firearms i.e. Cash-in-Transit.

No application is necessary for this program. Provided you meet the entry requirements you can
directly enrol via phone, mail or at the counter. You may be required to provide evidence of your
eligibility prior to, or at the time of enrolment. This could include certified academic results or
similar.

Industry Tickets This is NOT a Security Officer licensing course. If you have NOT completed the Certificate II Security
and Licenses program or do NOT possess a current Security Officer you should complete CPP20207 Certificate II in
Security Operations prior to undertaking this program.
To gain a Firearms Security Licence (Guard) you must have Cash in Transit listed as a function on
your Security licence. To achieve this you will need to have completed the Cash in Transit units
TDTO898B Implement cash-in-transit security procedures, TDTD4198B Undertake cash-in-transit
loading and unloading in an unsecured environment, TDTO998BTest and inspect cash-in-transit
security equipment. CPPSEC3003A Determine response to security risk situation, CPPSEC3002A
Manage conflict through negotiation and CPPSEC3007A Maintain security of environment are also
licensing requirements and can be completed as part of our Crowd control program.
Under the Queensland Police Service Weapons Licensing Branch guidelines there is NO RPL
(Recognition of Prior Learning) available for Firearms. Holders of previous licences should contact
the Hillcrest Centre for advice.

Placement
Approximate Fees Fees indicated are approximate and should be used as a guide only. Fees may alter due to program
and Other Costs changes, CPI increases or other reasons. Exact fees can be supplied at the time of enrolment.
As some programs are subsidised by the Queensland Government for Queensland Residents, fees
may vary for Non-Queensland residents. Please inform our Customer Care Officers if you are a Non-
Queensland Resident.
Full Fee: $240.00
Additional Materials Please bring a pen and notebook. You will need to bring lunch (in a small cooler bag etc, or you may
use the fridge provided) and tea & coffee making facilities are available. Please also note that neat
casual attire is required and closed in footwear must be worn.
Other Information TIMETABLE Commence 8.00am on the first day, and 8.30am everyday after. Classes finish at 4.00pm.
