COURSE AIM
In this course you will acquire the skills required to work in a beauty salon. You will learn about skin and
body treatments, manicures and pedicare, massage treatments and cosmetics. You will also learn about
how a beauty salon runs, how to improve your communication and key competencies and about ethics
and codes of professional behaviour.

People considering enrolment in beauty courses need to be aware that skills development for clinical work
will require students to practise on each other and that industry dress codes will apply. This will
necessarily involve touch but will always be practised and applied in accordance with industry codes of
practice and ethics.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Academic
NSW School Certificate (or equivalent).

English
Demonstrated English language ability – for example, suitable results of a recent academic IELTS -
score 5.5 overall with no individual band lower than 5.0, or TOEFL (iBT) 71, or successful completion of
TAFE NSW Certificate III in English for Further Study, or proof that the medium of instruction at school
has been in English with satisfactory grades in English in final examinations.
