an OTP is impossible to produce unless there is a true source of randomness.
Actually, no. True is hard to catch but largely defined by your choice of method. But, you might derive more random streams from less random streams by any number of processes. This goes to my other recent objection that being that making your keys was and had to be boring.
Incorrect, there is either a fan or electrical or heat oscillation within the box which many people use as a source of randomness. If there is no random source then it is not a random stream, merely a pseudo−random stream based on some criteria. A random stream has no criteria to generate a key.
that being said, i, for the most part, refer to my KDF as a POTP, or pseudo−one−time−pad, for the reason that each key is unique, >UNTIL< the counter resets. solution, have a very large counter. mine is in the order of 256 bits. it's actually a series of eight 32 bit counters.
POTP is a much better name as long as it is not severed , However, you still run the risk of being accused of pushing something like dehydrated water.
What do you mean by severed?
