Launchpad - Youth Musical Theatre Workshops presents STARBOUND6 INFORMATION SHEET AIM OF THE PROGRAM This summer, Launchpad – Youth Musical Theatre Workshops will offer 2 weeks of exciting songs and electric choreography taught by practicing performing arts teachers that culminates in ‘STARBOUND 6’ a 1 hour showcase. Students will have the opportunity of receiving over 90 hours of performance training whilst learning the songs and routines from some of Broadway’s new and classic shows such as Tick, Tick Boom, West Side Story, Shrek the Musical, The Wild Party, Nine, Sweet Charity and more. Each cast member will experience a range of singing teachers, directors and choreographers. The songs and teaching will provide opportunities for dance, acting and vocal variety. Here’s a chance to learn in a fun, professional and challenging environment, meet new friends, make contacts and perform a show. REHEARSALS Rehearsals will be held at - Ruyton Girls’ School 12 Selbourne Rd, Kew *Glenferrie is the nearest train station, and a tram runs within a few minutes walk of the school. Rehearsals start on Sunday the 3rd of January and run to Friday 16th of January, 2009. Obviously, due to the short rehearsal period successful applicants should not miss a rehearsal. It is expected that workshop members conduct themselves in a professional manner, this includes punctual attendance at all rehearsals. Furthermore, workshop members will be required to act in a professional manner at all time whilst at rehearsals and in the theatre. The rehearsals will be during the day from approximately 9am to 5pm (with a lunch break – some days may start earlier or finish later), although Sundays will be 12pm to 5pm. These times may change slightly depending on progress made. PERFORMANCES Three wonderful shows full of superb songs, stirring direction and exciting dance routines. CHELSEA PLUMLEY International Cabaret and Musical Theatre star her first show CHELSEA PLUMLEY IN CONCERT debuted at the Sydney Opera House in 2000. New York followed with rave reviews and a 5-city tour of India distinguishing Chelsea as the first Australian cabaret artist to conquer the Himalayas! Chelsea is a highly acclaimed musical theatre actress whose notable roles include Amy in COMPANY, Rizzo in GREASE, and Betty in SUNSET BOULEVARD. CHRIS PARKER WAAPA Grad, Chris Parker is currently contracted as Assistant Director on AVENUE Q and will also be appearing with The Production Company in 09. DANA JOLLY Choreography credits include The Diva Awards with Bob Downe, and Resident Choreographer for the Australian productions of "We Will Rock You," and " The Producers." Dana has choreographed for Bert's Family Feud , channel 9 network , Moomba Waterfest and Parade, " Nostradamus", and "Respect", with Rhonda Burchmore, "Anything Goes", "Kiss Me Kate", Thoroughly Modern Millie", " Little Me", and "Follies". YVETTE LEE Her theatre credits include ”How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, “Don Giovanni” and most recently “Dusty the Original Pop Diva”, where she was assistant choreographer to Ross Coleman and Dance Captain. Her television credits include the opening of “TV Week Logie Awards”’, “Good Morning Australia”, “Rove Live” and “The Footy Show”. Others including SCOTT HENDRY, BEN OSBORNE, CHRISTIE WHELAN and more COSTS The cost of participation is $280. This is less than $3 per hour and contributes towards the substantial costs of hiring the rehearsal venue, theatre costs, licensing fees, lighting, sound and public liability etc. Payment is required at the first full rehearsal on Sunday 3rd of January 2010. AUDITION WORKSHOP You must prepare one song of your own choosing (it may be either an up- tempo number or a ballad – please try to keep within the Musical Theatre genre). There will be a pianist provided, but you must bring your own sheet music (in the correct key); you may however, bring your own pianist or backing CD/tape. Please be on time to the audition to complete registration forms and a vocal warm- up. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the audition panel may limit your performance to a specific section of your song(s). Feel free to include appropriate movement for your chosen song. NB: You will be asked to participate in a basic movement workshop (please dress in comfortable clothing).
