					    Free Funny French “Films on the Green” in July
                        THREE COMEDIES TO CELEBRATE SUMMER


New York, June 22, 2009—After selecting four environmentally-themed movies for the month of June, Films on
the Green will continue its free outdoor screenings with lighter fare, in keeping with the summer spirit. Three
comedies will be screened in Tompkins Square Park at around 8:30 pm on Friday July 10, 17 and 24: Love is
in the Air (2005), Works (2005) and Claire’s Knee (1970). All three screenings, jointly organized by the
Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, will
be in French with English subtitles and will be free of charge.

In Love is in the Air by Rémi Bezançon (starring Academy Award winning Marion Cotillard and Vincent Elbaz),
Yann Kerbec, an instructor for an airline company who is afraid of flying, will need to decide whether he really
wants to overcome his fears and win the woman of his dreams. In Works by Brigitte Roüan (2005), Carole
Bouquet plays Chantal, a wealthy, powerful, and happily divorced Paris lawyer whose life is perfect, until she
decides to remodel her apartment… and ends up having her entire life refashioned! The Eric Rohmer classic
and multiple award-winner, Claire’s Knee (1970, starring Jean-Claude Brialy and Fabrice Luchini), follows a 35-
year old diplomat about to get married who becomes enamored with a 16-year-old’s knee during his last
weekend as a bachelor…
