                          Central Texas Wildfire Academy
                                        Sponsored by the Texas Forest Service and
                                          the Dam Volunteer Fire Department


DATE:            February 19 - 21, 2010
                                                     This event will provide training to volunteer and agency wildland
                                                     firefighters. The Central Texas Wildfire Academy is striving to offer a

Basic Engine And Suppression Tactics (BEAST)                                                         February 20-21, 2010

 This course will introduce students to basic wildland engine suppression tactics in both rural and wildland urban interface settings.
 Students will also be introduced to basic engine terminology, structure triage, hose handling and foam & water use to optimize the
 water available. The course consists of 8 hours classroom and 8 hours field exercise. Not an NWCG course.
 **Fire departments are encouraged to bring their own apparatus if attending this class. Please note somewhere on the
 registration if bringing equipment. PPE is required for ALL students (includes Nomex shirt, pants, hardhat, leather boots,
 leather gloves, and eye protection).




Tactical Decision-Making for Fireline Officers                                                       February 20-21, 2010

 This course will introduce fireline officers to concepts and aids to assist them in tactical decision-making in the wildland fire setting.
 Discussions and scenarios will cover both rural and wildland urban interface fires. This course offers the tools necessary to develop the
 knowledge and practice in decision making necessary to effectively apply wildland fire suppression tactics. In addition, this course also
 offers the tools to develop leadership in applying and teaching appropriate fire suppression at their home unit. The course consists of
 8 hours classroom and 8 hours field exercise. Not an NWCG course.

Wildland Urban Interface Firefighter Safety                                                 February 19, 2010           6:00-10:00pm
