            III PORTUGUESE PRIMATOLOGICAL CONFERENCE AND
                  VII SPANISH PRIMATOLOGICAL CONFERENCE

Welcome to the first Iberian Primatology Conference (IPC)!

During the first edition of IPC, the Portuguese Primatological Association (APP) is responsible
for organizing and hosting the congress in straight co-operation with the Spanish Primatological
Society (APE). This joint effort will combine the 3 rd Portuguese International Primatology
Conference (APP) with the 7th Congress of APE.
APP was founded in 2004, but in spite of its young age it already achieved large goals and new
projects are always in its horizon. APE is an “adult” association (founded in 1993), experienced,
and an example to follow. This join conference aims to build a strong scientific bridge between
the Portuguese and the Spanish primatologists by establishing network contacts and hopefully
engaging researches, from both countries, in cooperative research activities.
In spite of the name of the conference, other primatologists from all over the world are more
than welcome to join us. More bridges can and should be created.

Venue: Peniche
Peniche is a city located at 70 kms from Lisbon but of easy and fast access via highway (it
takes around 45 minutes to get there).
Peniche’s choice is mainly connected with much lower accommodation and food prices, with
the offers given from the Municipality (apart from letting us use the auditoriums free of charge,
they will give a welcome dinner to all the conference participants and will provide totally free
student accommodation for 50 students). Also, the congress organization will provide shuttles
from Lisbon airport to Peniche (and vice-versa) to transport the conference participants.

For more specific info regarding the location please see http://www.cm-peniche.pt/

Date: 7, 8 and 9 of November 2007 (from a Wednesday to a Friday). This format will allow
people to stay for the week-end for sight-seeing and social events.
Accommodation:

of the document)

Student accommodation – In Peniche there is the possibility of free accommodation for 50

belongs to Peniche Municipality.
There is also a big Youth Hostel (Pousada de Juventude da Areia Branca) with very
reasonable prices (ranging from 11 to 30 euros per night). An agreement can also be
established between the Youth Hostel in order to get even cheaper rooms for students
attending the conference.
