  Why not organise a team cart or build a novelty class cart.

   Prizes awarded to 1st and 2nd in each class and to crowd
                   favourite novelty cart.

ENTRY SPECIFICATIONS

Driver Specification
      The Driver must at all times wear the following:
      Helmet (The helmet must comply with current Australian Standards for a pushbike or
      motorbike helmet).
      Gloves and strong, sturdy covered shoes that support the ankles.
      No loose clothing.
      Elbow and knee pads.
      Safety glasses.
      Each driver must be able to control the steering and brakes.
      All drivers will be scrutineered to ensure the above compliance is met.

Billy Cart Specification

   For race categories:

   Under 15’s & Young Guns (15 to 17)
     Overall width less than 1200mm
     Box cart – made essentially from wooden material
     May have 1 driver & 1 passenger
     Must have 2 axles, min. wheel spacing 400mm
     Maximum weight of cart must not exceed 70kg excluding driver

   For race categories:
   Open(18 and over), Lady Drivers, The Experts (aka Grandparents), Novelty - Team
   Challenge
      Maximum weight of cart must not exceed 100kg excluding driver
      Dimensions are open

   For all race categories:
      Must have at least 4 pneumatic or solid tyre wheels
      The billy cart must have an adequate steering mechanism
      The billy cart must have a working brake - not your foot on the road or wheel
      There must be sturdy construction of all billy cart components, and fixed seating
      All components are to be adequately secured to the cart such that in the event of a
      piece of cart ‘breaking off’ it doesn’t interfere with spectators or other competitors
      NO dangerous protrusions
      NO motors, sails, pedals, paddles, or any other propulsion device
      NO spoked wheels unless covered securely by sturdy material



Race Rules

      All billy carts will receive a practice run immediately after scrutineering.
      If an entrant and billy cart fail to arrive for the race, it will be run without waiting.
      All billy carts will commence from a stationary start with the driver seated in the cart.
      No outside assistance is allowed.
      No pedaling, pushing paddling or propulsion of any kind is allowed.
      Rocking is permitted.
      Billy carts must proceed under their own weight.
      Random weight checks will be carried out throughout the day.
      Billy carts must have fixed seating, and the driver must remain seated throughout the
      race.
Drivers exiting a cart during a race will be recorded as having a DNF (Did Not Finish).
Billy carts must travel in a straight path – no swerving, weaving or turning from side to
side.
Any billy carts that crash may be disqualified. At the discretion of the Chief Steward
any billy cart that is crashed into may receive another run, time permitting.
All judges decisions are final on the day.
Billy carts, drivers & passengers must be available for scrutineering at 8.00am.
Late entries will not be accepted.
The Chief Steward reserves the right to cancel or re-arrange events.
Three (3) wheeler billy carts are not permitted.
All participants enter at their own risk.
No refunds will be given.
Races for under 8’s and under 15’s will be run on a shorter track.
A billy cart or driver may be disqualified at any time at the discretion of the Chief
Steward.
Each entrant must provide a signed entry form before participating in the billy cart
races.
In the event that the entrant is under the age of eighteen, a parent/guardian of the
entrant will be required to also sign the form.
By signing the entry form the participant and their parent/guardian accepts the terms
and conditions of entry in the billy cart races and associated indemnity clause.
At the date of the race, entrants must fall within the specified age category.


      ALL BILLY CARTS MUST PASS A SAFETY CHECK

I agree that by signing this form, I am entering the 2008 Interclub Billy Cart Race at my own
risk. I understand that although the organisers of the event will make every effort to ensure it
is a safe, fun race, I understand that they, or ACT Government, Parks Conservation and
Lands or Light Car Club of Canberra are not liable for any injury occurring to myself or my
team mates or any loss or damage occurring to my billy cart or personal belongings before,
during or after my race. I will not execute legal proceedings against any of the organisers of
the race or organisations mentioned above as a result of any injury, loss or damage that
occurs during the day to me, my team mates, my billy cart or my personal belongings.
