Creator and Chair (Fall 2009)
NextGen Conference is a one-day event at Stanford University in
the heart of Silicon Valley. Mission is to help young entrepreneurs
succeed by providing networking opportunities, lecturers, and panels
on areas that are vital in building and maintaining startup
companies

Building a network of young entrepreneurs and offering a range of
services that expand and enhance creatively entrepreneurial abilities
and support the development of creative ideas.
Responsibilities include: seeking out creative coaches to mentor
users, reaching out to partners, and members.

Guest Lecturer (October 2009)
Invited to speak at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign to
the Illinois Foundry for Innovation in Engineering Education
Program (iFoundry) and to students in entrepreneurship classes.
Topics included entrepreneurship, persistence, mentorship, and
creative networking.
My workshop talk helped energize to develop the entrepreneurial
and creative side of engineering education. I helped create a new
lecture series. My workshop will serve as the inaugural launch of
this series.
Founders Fund (July 2009)
Summer Intern
Founders Fund is a venture capital firm in San Francisco, CA that
focuses on early-stage technology investments. Most notable
investments: Facebook. SpaceX, and Slide.
Shadowed and interned for Principal, Justin Fishner-Wolfson.
Opportunities included several one-on-one mentor meetings.
Performed due diligence for potential and current investments,
observed various startup pitch meetings, worked closely with CFO
to learn financial side of venture capital.
Union Square Ventures
Summer Intern (July 2008)
Union Square Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm in New
York City that invests in young information technology companies.
Most notable investments: Twitter, MeetUp, and Zynga.
Shadowed and interned for managing director, Albert Wenger.
Sat in on weekly partner meetings, created due diligence documents
for potential investments observed board meetings with portfolio
companies, and watched startup company pitches. Provided a unique
teenage perspective to the venture world.
TechStars
Summer Intern (June 2008)
Techstars, in Boulder, CO, is a startup accelerator program and seed
fund motivated to help young entrepreneurs launch companies.
Observed meetings, provided a young unique insight and point of
view to the ten participating companies, and sat in on various
mentor sessions.

Guest Speaker (May 2008)
Invited to teach a class about business and entrepreneurship at my
former elementary school in Houston, TX. I Spoke about “doing
what you love”.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
J-Serve
Nominated Committee Member (150 hrs/yr, 2008-Present)
J-Serve is the national day of community service for Jewish
teenagers planned by a selected committee of ten teenagers.
Co-planned a day of community service for 400 Houston Jewish
teenagers. Responsibilities and projects included: identifying need
in community, selecting projects, budgeting, marketing, volunteer
training, and sports activities for disabled children.
One of three chosen to attend national J-Serve conference in San
Diego, CA, to improve local leadership of community service
activities.
Community Service Club
Council Member / Committee Chair
(4 hrs/week, 2006-Present)
Chair of Seven Acres Retirement Home weekly project. Led
Sabbath services, served dinner, and conversed with seniors every
Friday evening.
Attended and helped plan monthly community service projects.
Projects included making meals for End Hunger Network, playing
sports with refugee children, and playing Wii with senior citizens at
Seven Acres Retirement Home.
Senior Citizens’ Prom
Creator and Organizer (100 hrs/yr, 2008-Present)
Due to world events such as World War Two and the Great
Depression some senior citizens were unable to have a Senior Prom
Founded Senior Citizens’ Prom, a dance with early-bird bingo for
Senior Citizens from several Houston retirement homes.
Secured underwriters for venue space, food, transportation, party
favors, and entertainment.
Houston Public Radio covered the event.
Blood Drive
Founder and Organizer (60 hrs/yr, 2007-Present)
Worked closely with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to host
three Blood Drives per year.
Promoted Drives to the Houston community.
Chaired student Blood Drive Committee, the largest committee at
Emery/Weiner School. Drives collected over 240 pints of blood.

Tutored underprivileged children in math, science, and English.
Jewish Community Center

Attend monthly meetings to discuss important issues relating to
