RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS FOR AUSTRALIAN STUDENTS AT OVERSEAS UNIVERSITIES THE GEORGE MURRAY SCHOLARSHIP The purpose of the scholarships is to enable graduates of the University of Adelaide to undertake further postgraduate or postdoctoral research in approved universities or other institutions outside of Australia. The value and tenure of the awards is determined on a case by case basis taking into consideration the proposed length of degree and the cost of living at the institution to which the applicant has applied. For postgraduate students the scholarship includes a living allowance (usually in line with that offered by the proposed institution) and the payment of tuition fees. Postdoctoral students are offered a competitive rate of pay as equivalent to a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The scholarships are open to all disciplines. This scheme is subject to funding and the University reserves the right not to make offers in any given year. CLOSING DATE 31 October in the year prior to commencement of study. APPLICATION Application forms are available approximately 6-8 weeks prior to the closing date, and can be downloaded from the Scholarships website: http://www.adelaide.edu.au/graduatecentre/scholarships, or collected from the Student Centre, Level 4, Wills Building ph: 8303 5208, email: student.centre@adelaide.edu.au THE JOHN CRAMPTON TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIPS The purpose of this fellowship is to enable students of Architecture, Engineering, Fine Arts and/or Classical Antiquity to undertake study overseas in Italy, Germany, Spain or Greece or any other country considered appropriate for the purposes of undertaking research towards a Masters degree or doctorate. The scholarship provides payment of the university fees and a living allowance for a period of up to two years for a Masters degree and three years for a doctorate. The value of the awards is varied depending on the country of study. THE FULBRIGHT AWARDS The Fulbright program in Australia supports the exchange of Australian and American graduate students, lecturers, researchers, people working in the arts and practising professionals. All Fulbright awards are given on the results of national competition. THE FRANK KNOX MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP TO HARVARD The Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship to Harvard is tenable at Harvard University in the United States for students to undertake a higher degree in Law. Normally two fellowships are awarded annually and applications are open to Australian citizens who have recently graduated or are about to graduate from an Australian institution. The minimum value of the awards is US$15,500 per annum. Tuition fees and student health insurance will be met in addition to the stipend. The normal tenure of the fellowships is generally for one year. The Awards are not limited by age, gender, academic field of study, country or university, subject to the university being considered to be amongst the global leaders in the chosen field of study. However, whilst no upper age limit is stipulated, Awards will generally favour those whose major contribution to their field and to the community lies ahead of them. These scholarships are awarded to Australian graduates of outstanding academic merit to study at the University of Cambridge.
