					CLASSIC ADELAIDE – OFFICIALS ROLES

STAGE COMMANDER
The Stage Commander has overall responsibility for the organisation, set-up, running and
clean-up of a special stage, and is responsible to the Clerk of Course in liaison with the
appropriate Area Coordinator.

Each Stage Commander is the representative of the CoC in the field

The Stage Commander is responsible for:
Pre-event
• Assist the official’s co-ordinator in appointing a Deputy and Stage Safety Officer to form a
Stage Management Team

• Attend training and briefing sessions and assist in training their team as required

• Recruit (in conjunction with the Official’s Co-ordinator) and participate in training of Post
Chiefs and officials for each control point (or ensure officials attend training)

• Check the condition of the stage roads in the weeks prior to the event and advise the Area
Coordinator of any roadwork’s that may effect the event 'on the day', or any adverse
conditions of the road

• Contact residents two weeks prior to the event, by carrying out a 'letterbox box drop' to all
properties on the stage

• Check the Stage Set Up Notes prior to the event and report any discrepancies to the Area
Coordinator for reporting to the CSO

• In conjunction with other members of the their Stage Management Team implement the
plans to secure the stage to prevent accidental intrusion, and ensure the safety of all officials
and spectators, using the Stage Set Up Notes

• In conjunction with the Support Services Manager determine the equipment required for the
running of the stage, its collection and return


During Event
• Ensure that a process is set up for the signing-on of all officials

• Ensure that junior officials are verbally briefed and issued with a briefing document, and are
under direct supervision, and not assigned to duties where they should not be working

• Manage the stage from the start area, reporting to Rally Control on the condition of the
stage whilst it is being set up, and during the running of the stage

• Record and report all incidents/accidents occurring during the running of the stage

• Advise Rally Control of any property damage occurring during the running of the stage

• Organise the pack-up and dismantling of the stage after the completion of the competition
ensuring there is no rubbish or debris left behind

Post-Event
• Provide the Area Coordinator with a debrief report on the stage within three weeks of the
finish of the event
