     Member Meeting
  Friday 27th May 2005, 9.30 am – 4.00 pm
          TEC Conference Room,
            La Trobe R&D Park
  Why attend?
  This important event will allow staff from CAVAL Member and
  Associate Member institutions to gain a deeper understanding of
  the varied activities of the CAVAL committees and groups. At
  the same time, CAVAL will hear from our Members and
  Associates about the issues that are important to them, helping
  CAVAL shape future services and developments.

  Who should attend?
  Although numbers are limited, attendance is open to delegates
  from each Member and Associate Member institution. Ideally
  delegates should be a mixture of operational and managerial
  staff. The twin aims of allowing members to hear about CAVAL
  activities and for CAVAL to listen to our members means that a
  variety of inputs from across the library spectrum will be most

  Paul Reekie General Manager, CSIRO PUBLISHING.
  With a Business Administration degree from the University of
  Western Ontario in Canada, Paul came to Australia in 1971 on
  holiday and started a publishing career that has continued ever
  since: McGraw Hill, Sydney, 1972–76; Copp Clark Pitman, Toronto,
  1976–81; Barron’s Publishing, Sydney 1981-82; Pitman Publishing,
  Sydney and Melbourne, 1982–87; CSIRO Books & Journals 1987–95,
  and CSIRO PUBLISHING 1995 – present with the business
  producing journals, books, multimedia and magazines.
  CSIRO PUBLISHING has been at the forefront of the Australian
  industry in putting content online and using the global reach of the
  web to market its products internationally. In the last year the
  business has added journal archives dating from 1950 to its online
  Dean Mason is CEO of Lucia Publishing Systems and a director of
  Enakt Pty Ltd and CAVAL Ltd. Lucia Publishing Systems was
  established recently to commercialise the print-on-demand software
  developed at the University of Queensland. Prior to establishing
  Enakt in 2003, Dean worked with Common Ground on the
  innovative creator-to-consumer research project. He was a director
  of a leading library supplier, Mason's Book Centre, providing
  libraries throughout Australia and New Zealand with a range of
  book acquisition services.
