Title: CASTING COORDINATOR

Reporting to: Casting Director

MTC Mission Statement

To produce classic and contemporary Australian and international theatre with style,
passion and world class artistic excellence in order to entertain, challenge and enrich
audiences in Melbourne, Victoria and Australia.

Overview:

The basic rationale of this position is to negotiate contracts, arrange travel and
accommodation bookings, and provide administrative support for the Casting
Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

    Negotiate contracts for actors and other creative personnel
    Prepare contract advice documentation
    Work within artistic personnel budgets
    Maintain contract and contact lists and accurate files for creative personnel
    Prepare deal memos
    Generate creative and actor contracts when required
    Liaise with Finance Department to ensure creatives’ and actors’contracts are
     accurately generated including payment of allowances
    Organise travel and accommodation for actors and creatives and MTC staff
     including sourcing specialised accommodation and booking car hire
    Organise Working Permits for child actors
    Organise work visas for international actors and creatives
    Deal with correspondence as required
    Develop broad knowledge of and positive dialogue with all agents
    Assist Casting Director with the general business of the casting office
    Assist Casting Director with coordination of auditions
    Attend auditions and evening performances when required.

Required skills and experience

The position requires someone who has an understanding of the Australian
theatre/film/TV scene. In particular, they need to have good knowledge of Melbourne
based actors.

They will:

    Be able to work independently and in a flexible manner

    Have a passion for theatre and respect for those who work in it
    Handle the pressure of a fast-paced office environment
    Have good verbal and written communication skills
    Have demonstrated high level computer skills including use of Word, Excel,
     email and data bases
    Be organised with demonstrated accuracy and time management skills.

Experience working in the theatre/live performance/film/TV industry is essential.
Experience in arranging travel and accommodation is an advantage. Experience with
contract negotiation is also an advantage.

Relevant past experience could include:

Agent
Actor
Director
Casting assistant

Tertiary qualifications are preferred.

Budget responsibilities:              Keeping within allocated budgets for actors and
                                      creatives

   use equipment in compliance with relevant guidelines, without willful interference
    or misuse
   must cooperate with MTC management in relation to actions taken by MTC to
    comply with Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.

Conditions

average of 37.5 hours per week but to manage their time in a life enhancing way.
