APT6 PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION — WHY VISIT APT6?
APT6 will occupy the entire Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) building, as well
as the Watermall and adjoining galleries at the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG).
It will include the work of more than 100 artists from 25 countries, including
collaborations and collectives, reflecting the diversity of practices across Asia,
the Pacific and Australia.

APT6 will have a number of specific focuses and thematic links, and will
feature artists from communities that have not been represented in the APT
before, such as Tibet, North Korea (DPRK), Turkey and Iran, and from countries
of the Mekong region such as Cambodia and Myanmar (Burma).

APT6 and Kids’ APT will engage students of all levels.

PlANNINg A VISIT
Bookings are required for groups of ten or more. Please allow 72 hours’ notice
of your visit. To make a group booking please contact (07) 3840 7255, email

The website will feature an interactive blog for students to discuss artists and art
works featured in APT6.

*BEHINd THE ScENES
A student-oriented online component of the education resource, developed
by secondary students, will include video interviews with artists, curators and
Gallery staff.

*KIdS’ APT POWErPOINT
A PowerPoint featuring images and video interviews of artists involved in Kids’ APT.

*TEAcHEr NOTES [Pdf]
This summary of the major themes will assist teachers guide their students
through the exhibition, and includes curriculum information, ‘before viewing’
and ‘after viewing’ classroom activities.
* These three resources will be available on CD. To request a free copy,
provide your name and mailing address to edmail@qag.qld.gov.au.

KIdS’ APT
The Gallery presents 17 Kids’ APT artist projects as
part of the APT6 exhibition. Kids’ APT projects are ideal
for early years and primary students. Use the Kids’ APT map during your visit
and Yami, the northern hairy-nosed wombat, will also guide you through the
exhibition. Look out for Yami next to the special art work labels just for kids.

Bookings required
Gain information on APT6 themes, artists, education resources and programs
to engage students of all levels in the Gallery and classroom context.

Sessions include talks by APT6 curators, overviews of education resources
and hands-on activities with APT6 artists. Teachers will receive a certificate
of participation and handouts.

Paid program $25 (includes morning tea and lunch).
