Bible Reading: Galatians Chapter 5

Title: “Walk in the Spirit – Part 2” – vs.16

As we saw last week the words that frame our title this morning are instructions on how
we are to walk as Christians in this world.

Once we are saved the word of God teaches us how to walk as saved people.

The instruction we see this morning is – “Walk in the Spirit”

If we as Christians want to have a successful walk or life in this world we need to “Walk
in the Spirit, or to be led by the Holy Spirit of God.

Walking in the Spirit means to be led by the Holy Spirit every day of our life.

As we saw last week every born again Christian has been given the Holy Spirit.

NB: 1 Corinthians 6: 19

If you do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside, then you are not saved!

NB: Mark 16:15-16

Notice those words as found in verse 16

“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.”

The word Baptized here is not referring to water baptism, but the baptism of the Holy

Water baptism is a sign that you are saved!

NB: 1 Peter 3:19-21

The repentant thief on the cross did not have a chance to get baptised yet Jesus told him
that he was going to be in paradise with Christ!

NB: Luke 23: 39-43

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one that can baptize with the Holy Spirit.

NB: Mathew 3: 11-17 (hear the words of John the Baptist – in verse 11 of Mathew 3)

When you look at the context you can easily see that it is the Lord Jesus Christ that
baptizes with the Holy Spirit!

Water Baptism was something that Jesus did not do!

But it was something that He did receive at the hands of John the Baptist, which set the
example for every Christian.

NB: John 4: 1-2 (The Lord Jesus Christ left the water baptising to His disciples.)

When a person gets saved, the Lord Jesus Christ will baptize that person with the Holy

NB: Acts 1: 5 – (here we find that this is something the New Testament Church waited

The Holy Spirit is a seal that we belong to Christ and that we are forever His.

NB: Ephesians 1: 9-14

The Holy Spirit lives inside of us, guiding and teaching, correcting and comforting
throughout our earthly journey.

NB: 1 Corinthians 2: 9-16

The Holy Spirit shall guide us in the ways of Truth!

NB: John 15:26 – We find that the Holy Spirit is referred to as the Spirit of Truth.

In other words the Holy Spirit leads us in the truth and if we want to walk in the truth we
need to be walk in the Spirit and in order to walk in the Spirit we must allow the Holy
Spirit to dwell in our hearts unhindered and grieved by sin and rebellion which is sin!

The bible teaches us to honour this special guest that dwells within us!

NB: Ephesians 4: 30

We are to be careful not to grieve the Holy Spirit which dwells within and sin is what
grieves or make the Holy Spirit morn within us!

Notice the neighbourhood we find Verse 30 of Ephesians 4 in.

The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible.

NB: 2 Peter 1: 20-21

The Spirit of Truth which is the Holy Ghost has given us the truth of God as given to us
in the Word of God.

Jesus the truth refers to the Word of God as the truth.

NB: John 17:14-17

The Holy Spirit will testify (or to be a witness) of the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives.

If you really want to know all about the Lord Jesus Christ, you need the Holy Spirit to
teach you.
