Day 1: Arrival to Cape Town
Guided transfer from the airport via a short orientation city tour followed by check in at your hotel - the charming,
Victorian villas in the older fashionable part of Cape Town, Tamboerskloof. After having relaxed and refreshed, we
meet again in the evening for a dinner together at the nearby restaurant, Rozenhof.

Day 2 Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
We start our day with a guided tour of the famous Kirstenbosch
Botanical Gardens and a gourmet picnic on the rolling lawns on
the back slopes of Table Mountain. In the evening, before we leave
for dinner, a specialist wine guide will introduce us to South Afri-
can wines. Dinner will be enjoyed at the eclectic nearby restaurant,

Day 3: Cape Point & Boulders Penguin Colony
After breakfast, we take a scenic drive along the coast to Cape Point
Nature Reserve and the Cape of Good Hope. After visiting the light
house and the most south-westerly point of Africa, we enjoy lobster
for lundh (fresh out of the sea) at a restaurant overlooking False Bay and the Indian Ocean. On the way back to
Cape Town, we stop at Boulders Penguin Colony and in historical Simon’s Town. Dinner this evening will be a
cooking experience, hosted by Jayne.

Day 4: Historical City Tour: Bo Kaap & Robben Island
Today, you have the opportunity to get to know the Mother City and her history, with a walking tour in the old and
new parts of the city centre. Visit the Malay quarter-Bo Kaap where spices and aromas fill the air. Why not buy
some fresh spices and herbs over the counter at Atlas Trading, just like in the old days? Lunch on your own at the
Waterfront before we take the ferry to the infamous Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for
many years.

In stark contrast, the evening will be spent at Cape Town’s oldest and most famous colonial hotel. The Mount
Nelson’s Chef’s Table ensures diners a tailor-made, culinary encounter, enjoying out-of-the-ordinary fare whilst
gaining an insight into the chef’s world. You’ll enjoy a private evening in the kitchen around the long oak
table with an interesting menu and specially selected wines.
Day 5: Free Day
Explore the many attractions that Cape Town has to offer; soak up some sun at one of Cape Town’s
famous bikini beaches, take the cable car up to Table Mountain or go on a shopping spree in Victoria &
Alfred Waterfront. This day is for your own leisure. We will finish the day with a wonderful meal at La

Day 6: The Wine Lands: Stellenbosch & Franschhoek
Leaving the Mother City behind, we go inland to the mountainous wine
district. Our first stop will be the capital of South African wine, Stellen-
bosch - also second oldest town - with a fascinating, old city centre where
a guided walking tour will be conducted. We meet up after lunch to go
to the Wine Estate Delair for wine tasting– one of South Africa’s highest
situated wine farms, altitude being one of the reasons for the fame of the
Delair wines.

Leaving Stellenbosch, we continue to The Franschhoek Valley- enjoy the peaceful Klein Waterval Riv-
erside Lodge, where we stay the next 4 nights (a working wine farm), surrounded by vineyards in the
Franschhoek valley. In the evening, we start exploring this gourmet town by dining at the famous wine
estate Haute Cabriere, ranked as one of the top 10 restaurants in South Africa - where we indulge in the
food prepared by Franschhoek’s top chef, Matthew Gordon.

Day 7: More Wine Tasting: Stellenbosch & Paarl
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we will start with a wine tasting at Laborie, a typical Paarl winery,
followed by a light lunch/food sampling. After lunch, we will enjoy the outstanding wines of the small
and exclusive Villiera Wine Estate. Back at Klein Waterval there will be some time to enjoy the sur-
roundings and the pool before dinner together, hosted by Jayne.

Day 8: Franschhoek Mountain Wine & Hike Experience
The morning is spent walking (3 hours walking, approx 10 km) in the vineyards, with dramatic views of
the Hottentots Holland mountains in the distance, taking time en route to discover the intricate secrets
of wine farming. You will get to taste the juice of the vineyards from a selection of boutique wine farms.
A delectable lunch is followed by further visits to wine farms. Those not wishing to walk may enjoy the
quaint and charming town of Franschhoek, known for its antique shops. In the evening, we will enjoy
a 6-course food & wine pairing dinner in the tasting room at the famous restaurant, Le Quartier Francais
– an unforgettable gourmet experience!

Day 9: Vergelegen Wine Estate & Gardens
Visit one of South Africa’s oldest wine estates; Vergelegen. This estate has been a gardener’s paradise
from the time the land was first tamed by Willem Adriaan van der Stel in 1700. Enjoy a walking tour
with Vergelegen’s horticulturist through the magical gardens, smell the rose garden and view the oldest
oak trees in South Africa. We enjoy a cellar tour in one of the most modern facilities in the world, fol-
lowed by wine tasting and lunch served at Lady Philips restaurant.

On this last night in the Winelands, you’ll be served a traditional South African barbecue (“braai”) at
Klein Waterval Riverside Lodge
