CONSIDERATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING
PURPOSE OF REPORT
1 Three applications for a Discretionary Grant have been received from:
o Jack Cotter
o Mary Gow (Mulled Wine Classical Concerts in Paekakariki)
o Joan O’Dea
These applications comply with the Discretionary Grants criteria and need to be
considered by the Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board.
SIGNIFICANCE OF DECISION
2 The recommendations in this report do not trigger the Council’s significance
policy.
BACKGROUND
3 An amount of $17,500 was provided in the 2009/10 budget for the Community
Grants Fund. This is the sixth allocation of grants for the 2009/10 year.
CONSIDERATIONS
Issues
4 Grants are allocated in accordance with established criteria (copy attached).
5 Three applications have been received for funding from the Community Grants
Fund.
6 The applicants have been advised of the criteria and meeting date either by
telephone or by letter.

Jack Cotter.
7 Jack Cotter has applied for a grant of $500 to assist with the costs of representing
New Zealand in the Under 19 NZ Secondary Schools Football representative
team.

This application can be considered under Eligible Purposes 2. Special Project or
Activity.
Mary Gow (Mulled Wine Classical Concerts in Paekakariki)
8 Mary Gow has applied for a grant of $500 to assist with the costs of financing
musicians to undertake school visits and finance concerts and talks at Homes for
the Elderly.
This application can be considered under Eligible Purposes 2. Special Project or
Activity.
Joan O’Dea
9 Joan O’Dea has applied for a grant of $500 to assist with the costs of publishing
her father’s story of his pioneer aviator pursuits and other inventions in his
lifetime.
This application can be considered under Eligible Purposes 2. Special Project or

attending the National In-line

Athletics Club John Turner attending a

course for high jump in

Scout Zone traffic management and
printing costs for a scouting
event on the condition that
any surplus funds are to be
refunded back to the Council.

Croquet Club Inc. producing and printing a
book detailing the history of
the Paraparaumu Croquet
Club.
19.10.09 Buxom Uke Band $500 To assist with the costs of Received
purchasing instruments for
teaching purposes
30.11.09 Go Ika $500 To assist with event costs for
Fun Whanau Fishing Days,
including ferry hire to Kapiti
Island.
30.11.09 Lions Club of $500 To assist with costs to hold
Kapiti the Annual Sportsperson of
the Year function.
30.11.09 Kapiti College $500 To assist with the costs of
Japan Trip 2010 supporting the fundraising
effort by Kapiti College to
send 20 students on a trip to
Japan in 2010.

11 There are no legal, consultation, policy implications, publicity or any other
considerations related to this report.
Delegations
12 The Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board has the authority to approve
criteria for the allocation of community-based grant funds as approved through
the Annual Plan process or the Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP)
process.
Authority to consider and approve the allocation of community-based grant
funds as deemed appropriate under agreed criteria of both existing schemes and
any granting schemes that may be approved through the Annual Plan process or
the Long Term Council Community (LTCCP) process.
RECOMMENDATIONS
13 That the Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board grants Jack Cotter $............ to
