Dear Mr Crump,

RENEWABLE ENERGY

As requested, the following responses are provided to the questions asked
during my presentation to the renewable energy inquiry.

Q. Can you clarify for the Committee South Australia's percentage installed
renewable energy capacity?

A. Data from the ESIPIC 2009 Annual Planning Report and solar data provided
by the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and Arts,
indicates that South Australia's total installed renewable energy capacity as a
percentage of total installed energy capacity is currently 17.1%. Total installed
renewable energy is 751 MW (wind 740 MW, solar 11.3 MW) while total
installed capacity is 4395 MW (total installed conventional thermal generation
3644 MW + total installed renewable energy 751 MW).

Q. Is there any data set that says that consumers in South Australia are actually
purchasing a certain amount of renewable power? Does anybody have that
data set?

A. There is no data set currently available that outlines the amount of renewable
power purchased by consumers in South Australia.

Yours sincerely,
