In considering placement of your son/daughter, we ask that you and the student jointly complete the following information as accurately as possible. All students whose applications are on time and complete will be eligible for consideration. The application process has many components including: A. Demographic Information B. Your Child as a Learner C. Student Perspective ( which includes a short written piece) D. Current School Information *Please ensure that you give your child’s current teacher the enclosed Student Profile Checklist to complete and fax directly to Sir John Franklin School (403) 777-7612. Should there be more applicants at any grade level than spaces available, a lottery system will be employed for appropriate candidates. Students will be chosen as follows: 1. Students currently attending the Belfast Creative Arts Program. 2. Sir John Franklin (the numbered streets in the residential districts of Mayland Heights & Vista Heights) “community” students. 3. Siblings of students currently attending grades 7 through 9 at Franklin. 4. Students expressing interest in attending grades 5 and 6. 5. Students from north of the Bow River within Areas 1,2, and 3. 6. Students from outside the Calgary Board of Education. Complete applications must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Applications received after February 10th, 2010 will still be considered if our numbers permit. Notification of acceptance into the program will be mailed out on March 19, 2010. Notification and registration forms will be sent out for grades 5 and 6 if there is sufficient interest in the Arts-Centred Learning Program for middle school on February 22, 2010.
