					              Additional Specifications and scope of work :


FLOORING :
Areas of application (Schedule of finish) :
1.      Vitrified tiles : Entire internal area (excluding Multi-purpose hall, Table tennis
        room, Music room, Passages and stair cases) including skirting.
2.      Rustic ceramic tiles : Rear verandah including skirting.
3.      River finished kota stone : Table Tennis room including skirting.
4.      Marble (Green) : Forming border to rustic tiles, Sills and jambs for all openings.
5.      Marble (White) : Steps & landing (floor area) of main entry near Multi-Purpose
        hall, stair case.
6.      Granite : Main entry (Foyer) steps & landing areas.
7.      Ceramic tiles : Floors & Dado of toilets.


Demolishing & transportation of rubbish:
     1. Demolishing flooring: Entire flooring including toilets and stair case (except Multi-
        Purpose hall & Music room) shall be demolished. Skirting, dado etc shall also be
        demolished for the corresponding areas.
     2. Demolishing / removal of under layers : Flooring under layers from the
        demolished floor area shall be removed up to a depth of about 200 mm from the
        finished floor level (FFL). The plastered surface for skirting / dado shall be
        removed to expose the brick / concrete surface.
     3. Carriage of demolished materials: All the serviceable material shall be
        transported to the place within ONGC Complex, Baroda, as directed by the
        Engineer-In-Charge; and all the unserviceable material shall be transported out
        of ONGC Complex to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation dump yard. All the
        necessary permissions from the concerned Authorities shall be taken by the
        Contractor at his own cost and risk. Nothing extra shall for any claim whatsoever
        shall be paid by the Corporation.


     Surface Preparation :
     1. The area of the sub-grade shall be thoroughly cleaned to remove any loose
        material, well watered, rammed and then a 100 mm thick layer of coarse sand
     shall be spread over it. This layer shall be well watered and rammed to obtain a
     uniform surface.
  2. A 75 mm thick layer of plain cement concrete 1:3:6 (1 cement : 3 coarse sand : 6
     graded stone aggregate 20 mm nominal size) shall be laid over the well wetted
     surface of the sand filling. This layer shall be well rammed to obtain a plane
     uniform surface.
  3. After proper curing of the cement concrete layer, at least up to a period of 7 days
     from laying, a 20 mm thick bed of cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement : 4 coarse sand)
     shall be laid in true line and level. Over this bed, the different types of tile flooring
     shall be fixed.
  4. In case of skirting / dado, all masonry / concrete surfaces shall be thoroughly
     cleaned to remove all loose mortar scales, concrete lumps etc. All the joints shall
     be well raked. If necessary, concrete surface shall be hacked. It shall then be
     well watered to remove all dust & dirt. A cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement : 4 coarse
     sand) layer of minimum thickness of 12 mm shall be applied over masonry to
     have uniform and true to plumb surface.
  5. No tile work shall be carried out without the surface preparation works are
     approved by the Engineer-In-Charge.


VITRIFIED FLOORING:
  Basic rate including all taxes shall not be less than Rs 480/- per sqm.
  Premium quality vitrified tiles of size 600mmx600mm (approx) of the approved brand,
  manufacture and colour shall only be used. The sample of the tile shall be submitted
  to Engineer-In-Charge for the approval; and only after his approval, the order for the
  same shall be placed by the Contractor. The tiles shall sound hard and shall have
  fine and sharp edges. They shall be free from warpage and twisting.


  Flooring : The tiles shall be truly & evenly set and pressed in position by means of
  cement slurry on the cement mortar bed laid as described above, to obtain a uniform
  plane surface. The joints shall be staggered / continuous as directed by Engineer-In-
  Charge. Joints shall be filled up with white cement mixed with matching pigment or
  with adhesive. The surface shall be thoroughly cleaned off to remove all cement
  stains etc. Curing of the joints shall be done at least for a period of 7 days.
  Skirting : The height of the skirting shall be 75 mm from FFL. Tiles shall be fixed
  with cement slurry on the laid cement mortar bedding. Tiles shall be pressed evenly
  to obtain a plane surface true to plumb. The joints shall be filled up with white cement
  mixed with matching pigment or with adhesive. Surface shall be cleaned off
  thoroughly to remove all cement stains etc. Joints shall be cured at least for a period
  of 7 days.


  Cleaning : Finally, tile surface shall be cleaned with diluted hydrochloric acid and
  water to obtain a clean & shining surface.


RUSTIC CERAMIC TILES :
  Basic rate for the rustic ceramic tiles including all the taxes shall not be less than Rs
  485/- per sqm. The size of the tiles shall be approximately 381 mm x 381 mm. Tiles
  shall be of approved brand , manufacture and shade & shall be free from any
  warpage, twisting, cracks etc. They shall sound hard, shall have even glaze and
  sharp & fine edges. The samples shall be submitted by the contractor for its approval
  by the Engineer-In-Charge; and only after the approval is sought, the contractor shall
  place the order for the same. Tiles shall be thoroughly soaked in water, at least for a
  period of 6 hours, before use.


  Flooring : Existing M S railing shall be dismantled. Over a prepared bed of cement
  mortar, the tiles shall be laid with cement slurry. They shall be evenly set & pressed
  in position in required pattern to obtain a uniform plane surface. They shall be closely
  jointed with staggered or continuous joints as directed by Engineer-In-Charge. Joints
  shall be filled with white cement mixed with matching pigment & shall be rubbed to
  have an even surface. Surface shall then be thoroughly cleaned off to remove all
  cement stains etc. Joints shall be cured at least for a period of 7 days.


  Skirting : Height of the skirting shall be 75 mm from the finished floor level. On the
  plastered surface, the tiles shall be fixed with cement slurry. They shall be evenly set
  & pressed in position to obtain a plane surface true to plumb. Joints shall be filled
  with white cement mixed with matching pigment. Joints shall be rubbed to obtain an
  even surface. Surface shall be cleaned off to remove cement stains etc. Joints shall
  be cured at least for a period of 7 days.
  Cleaning : Tiled surface shall finally be cleaned with diluted hydrochloric acid and
  water to produce a clean & shining surface.


RIVER FINISHED KOTA STONE :
  Basic rate of river finished kota stone including all taxes shall not be less than Rs
  291/- per sqm. The size of the stone shall be approximately 600mm x 450mm. All the
  stone slabs shall be pre-polished, of uniform and even shade, and shall have true
  and fine edges.


  Flooring : Over the cement mortar bedding, the kota stone slabs shall be fixed with
  cement slurry. Joints shall be continuous or staggered as per the decision of
  Engineer-In-Charge. They shall be set evenly and pressed in position to obtain a true
  plane surface. Joints shall be filled with white cement mixed with matching pigment
  or with grey cement as per the decision of Engineer-In-Charge. Surface shall be
  cleaned off all the cement stains and joints shall be cured at least for a period of 7
  days.


  Skirting : Height of the skirting shall be 75 mm from the finished floor level. Stone
  slabs shall have a true and fine edges. Over a cement mortar bedding, the stone
  shall be fixed with cement slurry. They shall be evenly set and pressed in position to
  give a plane & true to plumb surface. Joints shall be filled with white cement mixed
  with matching pigment or with grey cement as per the decision of Engineer-In-
  Charge. The surface shall be cleaned off all cement stains etc. Curing of Joints shall
  be carried out at least for a period of 7 days.


MARBLE FLOORING :
  Green Marble :
  Basic rate for marble stone slab including all taxes shall not be less than Rs 550/-
  per sqm. 18mm thick machine cut, pre-polished green marble of about 150 mm wide
  and length not less than 1520 mm shall be used to match the pattern of rustic tile
  flooring. Marble slab shall have fine and true edges. For sill of door openings as
  shown in the drawing, one piece marble shall be used. For window sills two piece
  construction as shown in the drawing shall be used. For jambs of all openings, one
  piece marble shall be used.


  White Marble :
  Basic rate for marble stone slab including all taxes shall not be less than Rs 450/-
  per sqm. 18mm thick machine cut, pre-polished Rajnagar white marble of length not
  less than 1200 mm shall be used. For the stair case portion, a single piece slab shall
  be used for treads as well as for risers. Tread of the stair case shall be champhered
  and shall have three numbers of grooves along the length as shown in the drawing.
  Marble slab shall have fine and true edges.


  Flooring / treads of steps : Over the cement mortar bedding, the marble stone
  slabs shall be fixed with cement slurry. They shall be set evenly and pressed in
  position to obtain a true plane surface. Joints shall be filled with white cement mixed
  with matching pigment. Surface shall be cleaned off all the cement stains and joints
  shall be cured at least for a period of 7 days.


  Dado / Risers/skirting : Height of the skirting shall be 75 mm from the finished floor
  level. Over a cement mortar bedding, the stone shall be fixed with cement slurry.
  They shall be evenly set and pressed in position to give a plane & true to plumb
  surface. Joints shall be filled with white cement mixed with matching pigment. The
  surface shall be cleaned off all cement stains etc. Curing of Joints shall be carried
  out at least for a period of 7 days.


GRANITE :
  Basic rate of the granite including all taxes shall not be less than Rs 1800/- per sqm.
  18 mm thick machine cut pre-polished granite of approved shade shall be used. The
  edges of the stone shall be fine and sharp. Edges for the treads shall be
  champhered as shown in the drawing.


  Flooring / treads of steps : Over the cement mortar bedding, the granite stone
  slabs shall be fixed with cement slurry. They shall be set evenly and pressed in
  position to obtain a true plane surface. Joints shall be filled with grey cement.
  Surface shall be cleaned off all the cement stains and joints shall be cured at least
  for a period of 7 days. Epoxy touch ups, edge polishing etc. shall be carried out to all
  the exposed edges of the stone.


  Dado / Risers/skirting : Height of the skirting shall be 75 mm from the finished floor
  level. Over a cement mortar bedding, the stone shall be fixed with cement slurry.
  They shall be evenly set and pressed in position to give a plane & true to plumb
  surface. Joints shall be filled with grey cement. The surface shall be cleaned off all
  cement stains etc. Curing of Joints shall be carried out at least for a period of 7
  days. Epoxy touch ups, edge polishing etc. shall be carried out to all the exposed
  edges of the granite. Exposed edges shall be edge polished.


CERAMIC TILES :
  Basic rate of the ceramic tiles including all the taxes shall not be less than Rs 480/-
  per sqm. They shall be of approved brand, manufacture and shade. The tiles shall
  sound hard and shall be free from any crack, warpage of twisting. They shall have
  sharp & fine edges. Samples shall be submitted by the contractor for approval of the
  Engineer-In-Charge; and only after approval, the order for the same shall be placed.
  Tiles shall be thoroughly wetted (at least for 6 hours) before use.


  Flooring : Size of the tiles shall be approximately 300mm x 300 mm. Over a bedding
  of cement mortar, tiles shall be fixed with cement slurry. They shall be evenly set and
  pressed in a position so that a true plane surface with required pattern is obtained.
  They shall be joined closely with continuous or staggered joints as per the decision
  of Engineer-In-Charge. Joints shall be filled up with white cement mixed with
  matching pigment. Surface shall be cleaned off to remove cement stains etc. Curing
  of joints shall be carried out at least for a period of 7 days.


  Dado / Skirting : Size of the tiles shall be approximately 600mm x 320mm. On the
  cement mortar bedding, tiles shall be fixed with cement slurry. They shall be evenly
  set and in position to give a plane surface true to plumb. Joints shall be filled with
  white cement mixed with matching pigment. Surface shall be cleaned off to remove
  all the cement stains etc. Curing of joints shall be carried out at least for a period of 7
  days.
  Cleaning : Finally, the surface shall be cleaned with diluted hydrochloric acid and
  water to produce a clean and shining surface.


SILL & JAMBS OF WINDOWS / DOORS/OPENINGS :
  Area of application : Sills and jambs of all windows, ventilators and openings
  shall be provided with green marble.


  Basic rate of marble slab stone including all taxes shall not be less than Rs 550/- per
  sqm. 18 mm thick machine cut mirror polished Green marble with fine & sharp edges
  shall be used. It shall not have any hair cracks and defects. Edge shall have the
  edge polishing.


  All the existing ground floor windows, ventilators and doors shall be dismantled and
  the serviceable material shall be transported to the place within the ONGC premises
  as shown by the Engineer-In-Charge. All the unserviceable material to be carted
  away out of to the Vadodara Municipal dumping ground out side ONGC premises.
  Masonry around the opening shall be thoroughly cleaned off all the loose material.
  Surface shall be well wetted. A coat of cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement : 4 coarse sand)
  of minimum thickness 12 mm shall be applied to jamb portions of all doors, windows,
  ventilator & other openings, to provide a plane surface in true plumb.


  Over the cement plaster bedding, marble jambs (Vertical & horizontal members)
  shall be fixed with cement slurry. It shall be evenly set & pressed in position to
  provide a plane & true to plumb surface. The vertical slabs shall be supported fully
  on the horizontal sill section. Over these vertical slabs, top marble stone shall be fully
  supported.


  Sill portion of the opening on wall surface shall consist of two slabs of marble placed
  as shown in the drawing, so as not to allow any water entry inside through the
  bottom of the aluminium section.


  All the exposed edges of the marble slabs shall be champhered and edge polished.
  All the gaps between wall & marble shall be filled with silicon sealant of approved
  brand and manufacture and rubbed to provide an even surface. Surface shall be
  cleaned off to remove all the stains.


WATER PROOFING TREATMENT
  Area of application : This treatment shall be given to terrace portion of the entire
  building including parapets and pedestals for columns etc.


  3 mm thick Atactic Polypropylene Polymer (APP) modified water proofing membrane
  weighing not less than 3 kg per sqm of approved brand & make shall be used.
  Bitumen primer of approved brand & manufacture for bitumen membrane shall be
  used @ 0.40 lit per sqm after thorough cleaning of the area of all dirt, stains, loose
  material etc and making the surface totally dry.. Over the priming coat, a layer of
  membrane shall be laid using butane torch. Joints shall be well sealed. Overlapping
  margin shall be minimum of 100 mm. After the horizontal main area has been
  covered, all the vertical surfaces shall be treated with overlapping left on the
  horizontal surface.


PLASTER OF PARIS FALSE CEILING :
  Area of application : Entire internal area excluding Multi-purpose hall, Table tennis
  room, Music room & Library.


  Existing electrical fittings and cables shall be dismantled and transported as directed
  by the Engineer-In-Charge. All the RCC surfaces shall be cleaned off all the dirt,
  dust, cob webs etc. All the hidden wiring, cabling etc shall be carried out as required
  for installing the light fittings etc.


  Plaster of Paris sheets of approximate size 900 mm x 600 mm shall be used for
  forming the false ceiling. 26 gauge thick special C shaped GI section of approximate
  size 90mm x 12.5 mm shall be used as main runners. 50mm x 20mm GI C section
  shall be used as intermediate section. 26 gauge GI angle section of approximate size
  25mm x 25mm shall be used as hangers. 50mm anchor fasteners shall be used.
  Samples for all the materials shall be submitted by the contractor for approval of the
  Engineer-In-Charge; and only after the approval is sought, the order for the same
  shall be placed.
  Angle section of required length shall be suspended from the RCC ceiling by means
  of 50 mm anchor fasteners at appropriate interval. To this hanger angle, 50mm
  x20mm C section (intermediate runner) shall be fixed in one direction. Special C
  shaped main runner shall be fixed to intermediate runners in transverse direction to
  for a rectangular grid. To this main runner, Plaster of Paris sheet of size 900mm x
  600 mm (approximately) shall be fixed. Sheet metal screws of approved brand shall
  be used for connecting various components.


  Before the grid of the sections is formed, the damage to RCC ceiling / beam soffits
  etc. while driving the anchor fasteners shall be made good with grey cement. Two
  coats of white wash with lime shall be applied to all surfaces which would be hidden
  behind the false ceiling.


  All openings required for installation of light fittings etc shall be properly done and
  finished.


  After the false ceiling is erected in required line & level and in pattern / design, A thin
  coat of super acrylic plastic paint of approved brand, manufacture and shade shall be
  applied as priming coat. Two or more coats of super acrylic plastic emulsion paint of
  same brand, manufacture and shade shall be applied over the priming coat, to give
  an even shade.


PLUMBING AND SANITARY
  Area of application : All the toilets (5 nos) including VIP toilet shall be renovated as
  under.


  This works includes removal of existing concealed internal water supply lines,
  vessels, fittings, internal drainage lines etc from the existing toilets. Unserviceable
  material shall be transported away to Vadodara Municipal Dump Yard out side
  ONGC Complex and serviceable material shall be transported and stacked neatly to
  the place in side ONGC Complex as shown by the Engineer-In-Charge.


  CPVC pipes and fittings (elbow, tee, coupling, brass adaptors, reducers etc.) of
  make as approved by the Engineer-In-Charge shall be used. Samples shall be
 submitted by the contractor for approval of Engineer-In-Charge and only after
 approval is sought, the order for the same shall be placed. The new line/s laid shall
 be connected to the existing supply lines.


 Drainage lines shall be of UPVC lines including all fittings such as „Y‟, tee, elbow,
 bend etc. and connect to existing manhole chamber/ gully trap chamber etc.


 Coloured European water closets with seat and lid & cisterns, coloured wash basins
 with accessories, coloured urinals with accessories etc shall be provided.


 All internal doors shall be of aluminium with 6 mm thick pre-laminated Bison panels.


 All internal partitions shall be of 12 mm thick compact laminate with stainless steel
 supports and channels.


 All urinal partitions shall be of RAK slab.


 All wash basins shall be fixed on RAK stone slabs.


 Over wash basins and at the specified locations, 6 mm thick beveled edge mirrors
 shall be provided.


 Flooring and dado shall be of ceramic tiles of specified sizes.


 Coat hooks, towel hangers and liquid soap holders shall be provided.




INTERAL WATER SUPPLY
 1. SCOPE:-
  Work under this section consists of furnishing all labours, materials equipment
    and appliances necessary and required to completely install the water supply
    system as required as per the drawings and as specified hereunder.
  Without restricting to the generality of the foregoing, the water supply system
    shall include but not limited to the following:
 Laying of pipe lines.
 Connections to all plumbing fixtures, tanks, pump etc.
 Control valves and other appurtenances.
 Connections to all plumbing fixtures, tanks and appliances.
 Internal water supply piping inside the toilets shaft/plant room/terrace.
 Testing all line and fixtures as specified.
2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:-
 All materials shall be of the quality and make as approved by the Engineer-In-
    Charge & shall be furnished, delivered, erected, connected and finished in every
    detail conforming to specifications.
 Pipes and fittings shall be fixed truly vertical, horizontal or in slopes as required in
    a neat workmanlike manner.
 Pipes shall be fixed in a manner as to provide easy accessibility for repair and
    maintenance and shall not cause obstruction in shafts, passages etc. and shall
    be selected and arranged so as to fit properly into the allocated building space.
 Pipes shall be securely fixed to walls by suitable clamps at intervals as directed
    by Engineer-In-Charge.
 Valves and other appurtenances shall be located to provide easy accessibility for
    operation, maintenance and repairs.
 Contractor shall provide adequate number of unions on all pipes to enable
    dismantling later and for servicing. Union shall be provided near each gunmetal
    valve.


1   CPVC PIPES AND FITTINGS
a. CPVC PIPES
 The pipes shall be of chlorinated PVC SDR 13.5 or SDR 11 heavy as per the
    norms of flow guard & confirming to relevant ASTM standards about the strength
    and thickness of the pipes. Samples shall be submitted by the contractor for the
    approval of Engineer-In-Charge; and only after the approval is sought, the order
    for the same shall be placed.
 The pipes shall be clearly finished, very smooth in and out and free from cracks,
    surface flow, laminations and other defects. The ends shall be cut cleanly and
    square with axis of the tube
b. CPVC FITTINGS / SOLVENT FOR JOINTING PIPES & FITTINGS
 All fittings shall be of chlorinated PVC heavy as per the norms of flow guard
   conforming relevant ASTM standards about the strength and thickness of the
   pipes. All fittings shall have manufacturer's trade mark stamped on it. Fittings in
   CPVC pipe lines shall include elbows, tees, bends, reducers, nipples, union,
   brass male or female threaded adapters G.I. Clamps/Steel structural supports of
   approved design, nuts, bolts, washers, etc
 The fittings shall be socket ended conforming to the requirements of relevant
   ASTM standards
 The required solvent to joint the C PVC pipes & fittings shall confirm to ASTM
   standards –ASTM F -493




2 UPVC PIPES AND FITTINGS :
a. UPVC PIPES
The pipes shall be of Ultra Violet rays protected Rigid PVC heavy & confirming to
relevant ASTM standards about the strength and thickness of the pipes. The pipes
shall confirm the ASTM D 1785 of schedule 40. Samples shall be submitted by the
contractor for the approval of Engineer-In-Charge; and only after the approval is
sought, the order for the same shall be placed.


The pipes shall be clearly finished, very smooth in and out and free from cracks,
surface flow, laminations and other defects. The ends shall be cut cleanly and
square with axis of the tube


b. UPVC FITTINGS / SOLVENT FOR JOINTING PIPES & FITTINGS
 All fittings shall be of Ultra Violet rays protected Rigid PVC heavy and
conforming relevant ASTM standards about the strength and thickness of the fittings.
The fittings of UPVC shall confirm the ASTM D 2466 all fittings shall have
manufacturer's trade mark stamped on it. Fittings in UPVC pipe lines shall include
elbows,   tees,   bends, reducers, nipples, union, brass male or female threaded
adapters G.I. Clamps/Steel structural supports of approved design, nuts, bolts,
washers, etc
 The fittings shall be socket ended conforming to the requirements of relevant
ASTM standards
 The required solvent to joint the CPVC pipes & fittings shall confirm to ASTM
standards –ASTM D -2564


2. INSTALLATION OF CPVC / U PVC PIPE LINE :
 The tender drawings just indicate schematic layout, showing tentative location of
the piping work. Contractor shall prepare the detailed shop drawings for showing the
cross-section, longitudinal sections, details of fittings, locations of isolating and
control valves, drain valves and all pipe support, structural supports etc. and
submit to Engineer-In-Charge for approval. He must keep in view the specific
openings in buildings and other structures through which pipes are designed to pass
as per site conditions.
 Piping shall be properly supported on or suspended from connection clamps,
   hangers as specified and as required.
 Due care shall be taken in installing pipes etc. so as to avoid strain on equipment
   connections. The Contractor shall adequately design all the brackets, saddles,
   anchors, clamps and hangers, and be responsible for their structural sufficiency.
 Pipe supports shall be of steel, adjustable for height and primer coated with rust
   preventive paint and finish coated back.        Where pipe and clamps are of
   dissimilar materials a dielectric fitting shall be provided in between. Spacing of
   pipe supports shall not exceed the following:
     Pipe size                                     Spacing between supports
     Up to 20 mm                                   1.0 meter
     From 25 to 100 mm                             1.5 meter


 Vertical risers shall be parallel to walls and column lines and shall be straight and
   plumb. Risers passing from floor to floor shall be supported at each floor by
   clamps or collars steel structural supports attached to pipe and with a 15 mm
   thick rubber pad or any resilient material. Where pipes pass through the terrace
   floor, suitable flashing shall be provided to prevent water leakage. Risers shall
   have a suitable clean out at the lowest point and air vent at the highest point.
 CPVC Pipe sleeves, 50 mm larger diameter than pipes shall be provided
   wherever pipes pass through walls and slabs, and annular space filled with fire
   proof materials like putty, fire seal etc.
 All   pipe    work shall be carried out in        a   workmen     like manner,   causing
   minimum      disturbance   to   the   existing       services,   buildings,   roads and
   structure.
 Cut outs in the floor slab for installing the various pipes are indicated in the
   drawings. Contractor shall carefully examine the cut outs provided and clearly
   point out wherever the cut outs shown in the drawings, do not meet with the
   requirements.
 The Contractor shall make sure that the clamps, steel structural supports,
   brackets, clamp saddles and hangers provided for pipe supports are adequate.
   Piping layout shall take due care for expansion and contraction in pipes, and
   include expansion joints where required.
 All pipes shall be accurately cut to the required sizes and all burrs shall be
   removed before laying. Open ends of the piping shall be to avoid entry of foreign
   matter. Where reducers are to be made in horizontal runs, eccentric reducers
   shall be used for the piping to drain freely.          In other locations, concentric
   reducers may be used.
 In case of pipes concealed in wall or floors the groove cutting for pipe of
   adequate width shall be done with electric cutter or grinder machine and same
   shall be made good to match with adjacent surface finish after installation and
   testing of pipe line. Manual cutting of groove with heavy hammering shall not be
   permitted.
 For pipes 15mm to 25mm dia, the holes in the walls and floors shall be made by
   drilling with chisel or jumper and not by dismantling the brick work or concrete.
   However, for bigger dimension pipes the holes shall be carefully made of the
   smallest size as directed by the Engineer-In-Charge. After fixing the pipes the
   holes shall be made good with cement mortar 1:3 (1 cement: 3 coarse sand)
   properly finished to match the adjacent surface.
 Springing or forcing pipe into place shall not be permitted. During storage or
   installation at construction site, the ends shall be kept plugged to prevent entry of
   dirt and moisture inside pipes.
 Pipes to have adequate grade to eliminate traps and pockets. Where air pockets
   or water traps can not be avoided, provision for means of drainage with valve
   hose connection for water traps and valve automatic air vents for air pockets
   shall be made.
3. Testing :
 After laying and jointing, the pipes and fittings shall be inspected under working
    condition of pressure and flow. Smoke test shall be carried out to detect any
    defect in pipes / joints etc. Any joint found leaking shall be redone and all leaking
    pipes removed and replaced without extra cost. Use of any compound or stop
    leak compound shall not be permitted.




SANITARY FITTINGS & FIXTURES


SANITARY FITTINGS :
All vitreous earthenware sanitary fittings shall be of brand, manufacture and colour
as approved by Engineer-In-Charge and shall be of one piece construction. All
metallic fixtures like bib cocks (Catalog no 5037 of Jaquar or equivalent), stop cocks
(Catalog no 5083 of Jaquar or equivalent), pillar cock (Catalog no 5011 of Jaquar or
equivalent), angle cocks (Catalog no 5053 of Jaquar or equivalent), soap holder
(Catalog no 1131 of Jaquar or equivalent), Towel ring (Catalog no 1121 of Jaquar or
equivalent) etc. shall be of C P Brass of approved quality and make. All wall fittings
shall be fixed with wooden cleats and CP Brass screws and CP washers.


Unless otherwise specified the sanitary fixtures shall be of the following
specifications.


1   WATER CLOSETS :
    European Type water closet with seat & lid shall be of vitreous China of approved
    pattern, quality and colour. The closet shall be mounted on C.I. chair brackets
    with bolts for wall mounted type and shall be provided with solid plastic seat and
    cover with chrome-plated pillar brass hangers as specified. Size of the closet
    shall be 580mm and the size of sand cast iron P or S trap shall be 100 mm.
    Coloured vitreous cistern shall be provided with CPVC pipe connection.


1.1 Closets should conform to the requirements of I.S. 771-1963 for glazed vitreous
    china sanitary appliances.
1.2 The flushing cisterns shall conform to the requirements of I.S. 774 - 1971. High
    level cisterns shall be of cast iron unless otherwise specified. Low level cisterns
    shall be of the PVC or Vitreous china.


1.3 The flush pipe shall be 32mm dia. lead if concealed; and shall be of CPVC /
    UPVC, if exposed, unless and otherwise directed.


1.4 Where flush valves are specified these shall be of the best approved quality with
    C.P. control valve and C.P. flush pipe.


1.5 Water closet shall be as per catalog no 2035 of CERA or equivalent. Cistern
    shall be as per catalog no 2115 of CERA or equivalent.


2   URINALS:
    The coloured flat back vitreous urinal shall be as per catalog no 5006 of CERA or
    equivalent) brand, manufacture & colour as approved by Engineer-In-Charge.
    The Urinals shall be of one piece construction with integral flushing box run.
    These shall be mounted on walls. The flushing inlet shall be of 15mm CPVC
    pipes with C.P. stopcock ( catalog no 5083 or Jaquar or equivalent), C P
    Spreaders (Catalog no C8095 of Parryware or equivalent) & 25mm dia. Gun
    metal wheel valve of approved brand as master cock before the inlet. The 32 mm
    dia C P Brass waste coupling of approved brand and manufacture shall be used.
    C P Brass bottle trap of approved brand and manufacture shall be used. Waste
    pipe shall be of 32mm dia. CPVC pipe and shall be concealed in walls and floors.
    Rawl plugs with CP Brass screws shall be used for fixing the urinal. Fixing shall
    ensure that no liquid is left over in the pan after flushing. All inlet water
    connections and outlet waste connections shall be done by concealed CPVC /
    UPVC pipe work.


    Urinal partitions shall be of RAK stone slab of size 1050mm x 600mm x 18mm
    thick & shall be of approved shade. Basic rate for RAK slab including all taxes
    shall not be less than Rs 2800/- per sqm. Edges of the RAK slab shall be full
    round moulded. It shall be mounted on the wall with stainless steel “D” brackets
    of appropriate size. It will be supported on stainless steel pipes of 25 mm dia &
    stainless steel channels as per the drawing.


3   BEVELED EDGE MIRROR
    Beveled edge mirror 6mm thick shall be of brand and manufacture as approved
    by Engineer-In-Charge. The size of the mirror shall be as per drawings or as
    directed by Engineer-In-Charge. It shall have 6mm thick marine ply backing and
    a 25mm x 12mm teak wood beading around the mirror. Teak wood beading and
    rear of marine ply backing shall be painted with French spirit polish. Mirror shall
    be fixed to wall in wooden cleats with CP brass screws and CP washers.



4   WASH BASIN

4.1 Coloured Vitreous oval shaped wash basin of size 550 mm x 460 mm as per
    Catalog no. 1005 of CERA or equivalent of brand, manufacture and colour as
    approved by Engineer-In-Charge. It shall be of one piece construction including a
    combined overflow. A slot type of over flow having an area of not less than 5 sq
    cm shall be provided in the back of the bowl of the over flow.


4.2 One 15 mm nominal bore CP brass pillar cock as per catalog no 5011 of Jaquar
    or equivalent of approved brand and manufacture shall be used. PVC connecting
    pipes with brass union, a CP Brass bottle trap or 'U' trap, CP Brass chain and
    rubber or PVC stopper and 32mm dia. CP waste coupling shall also be supplied
    & fitted with the wash basin. The top of the rim of the wash basin shall be fixed at
    790 mm above finished floor level, unless otherwise specified. All inlet water
    connections and outlet waste connections shall be done by concealed CPVC /
    UPVC pipe work.


4.3 The wash basin shall be fitted on RAK stone slab which shall be supported on
    Mild steel angles 40mm x 40mm x 5mm. Basic rate for RAK slab including all
    taxes shall not be less than Rs 2800 per sq m. It shall have a half round edge
    moulding. All joints shall be filled with white cement mixed with matching
    pigment. All damages to floor / walls shall be made good.
4.4 All the surfaces damaged during the installation of wash basin shall be made
    good.




5   COAT AND HAT HOOKS
    The coat & hat hooks shall be chromium plated brass (Catalog no 1191 of Jaquar
    or equivalent) as approved by Engineer-In-Charge. They shall be fixed on 12 mm
    thick teak wood plate of 75mm x 75mm. The teak wood plate shall be properly
    polished. Wooden cleats shall be inserted in walls to fix wooden plates. CP Brass
    screws shall be used.




6   LIQUID SOAP HOLDER
    The liquid soap holder shall be chromium plated and of brand and manufacture
    as approved by Engineer-In-Charge. Brackets fixed with wooden cleats and CP
    Brass screws shall be used.


7   NAHANI TRAP (FLOOR TRAP) / "P" TRAPS
    The floor trap shall be of heavy type of C.I. with 100mm inlet and 80/100 mm
    outlet with CP pressed steel grating. It shall be of self cleaning design. It shall be
    fixed in cement mortar 1:2 or C.C. 1:2:4.

8. CLEANING, OPERATION & TESTS
8.1 Plumbing equipment fixtures, piping, etc. shall be free of stampings, makings
    ( except those required by codes ) iron cuttings and other foreign materials.


8.2 Hot, cold and drinking water systems shall be cleaned thoroughly filled and
    flushed and flushed with water.


8.3 The entire mechanical apparatus shall operate at full capacity without
    objectionable noise or vibrations.


8.4 Test for all plumbing systems shall be carried out in the presence of the site
    Engineer/Supervisor/Engineer-in-charge after giving sufficient advance notice. All
    equipment, materials and labor necessary for inspection and tests and
   rectification of works not passing the tests shall be provided by the contractor
   without any extra cost. After rectification of defective portion of the system,
   repeat tests shall be carried out to the satisfaction of Engineer-In-Charge. All the
   tests shall be carried out before concealing, insulating or backfilling over any
   piping. No exceptions shall be permitted.


8.5 Entire system of soil, waste and vent piping shall be tested by water after the
   roughing in is completed and before the fixture are set. After setting the fixtures,
   Smoke test shall be carried out after sealing all traps.


8.6 Water Test :
   Entire system or sections of system shall be tested after closing all opening and
   filling system with water to the point of overflow. If the system is tested in
   sections, plug each opening except the highest opening of the section filled with
   water. Keep the water in system or in portion under test of or at least 45 minutes
   before inspection starts with test pressure/head lasting for two hours. The system
   must be tight at all joints.


8.7 Final Test :
   After fixtures are set, system shall be tested with smoke as follows:


8.8 Smoke test :
   A pungent thick smoke produced by one or more smoke machines shall be
   introduced into the system after traps are filled with water. When smoke appears
   at stacks on the roof, stacks shall be plugged and a pressure of 25mm water
   column shall be allowed to be built up in system. A pressure shall be maintained
   for15 minutes before the start of inspection. The system shall be tight at all joints.

Aluminium Glazing Works:
Glazing :
   All existing windows, ventilators and doors shall be replaced with aluminium. A
   sliding folding partition as shown in the drawing shall be provided in aluminium
   sections. The aluminium section shall be of make as approved by the Engineer-
   In-Charge. The unit weight of the sections before anodizing shall not be less than
   as specified in the drawings. Sample shall be submitted by the contractor for
   approval of Engineer-In-Charge; and only after the approval is sought, the order
   shall be placed for the same. Raw material shall be got approved from the
   Engineer-In-Charge before it is sent for anodizing. 15 micron thick anodizing in
   approved colour / tint shall be done. After the anodizing, the surface of the
   section shall be well protected against any scratch, damage etc. This protective
   cover shall be removed completely without causing damage to the anodized
   surface. All the fittings required for the glazing work shall also be 15 micron
   anodized in the same tint as for the main aluminium sections.


   For shutter frame work and glazing clips, joints shall be mitered finely. EPDM
   gasket shall be used for fixing glazing panels. Sheet metal screws of approved
   make shall be used for joinery works.


   Works shall be carried out in good workmanship like manner. As far as possible,
   no gap shall be left between jamb and aluminium section. Any such gaps shall be
   filled with silicon sealant of approved brand. All the surfaces shall be cleaned off
   to remove any stains, dirt etc.


   EPDM gaskets of approved brand and quality shall be used for fixing glass with
   cleats. Track wool shall be used in sliding windows. Immediately after installing
   the glass, it‟s surface shall be marked distinctly so as to make it visible.


   Glass thickness : Glass of brand & make as approved by Engineer-In-Charge
   shall be used.


   For fixed ventilator portions 4 mm thick plain float glass shall be used.
For sliding window sections and fixed portion in between them, 4 mm thick plain
float glass shall be used.
For all door shutters other than main entry doors and toilet doors, 5 mm thick
laminated plain float glass shall be used. 200 mm long colour anodized
aluminium American handle, aluminium floor door stopper, 150 mm long and
10mm dia barrel type aluminium tower bolt for each shutter and concealed
locking arrangement as directed by Engineer-In-Charge shall be provided. All
aluminium fittings shall be anodized to the same shade that of main aluminium
sections.


For main entry doors to building (reception side & Multi-purpose hall side) and
doors for entry to Multi-purpose hall as specified in the drawings, shutters with
only horizontal anodized aluminium members (Top & Bottom) with 12 mm thick
plain float glass shall be used. Edge polishing shall be done to all exposed
surfaces of glass door shutter. Heavy duty floor springs to each shutter shall be
provided. Stain less steel American Handles 200 mm long shall be fixed to each
shutter on each side.


For internal partitions & internal doors of toilets, 12 mm thick compact laminate of
approved brand and manufacture shall be used. Main door of toilet shall have 5
mm thick frosted glass of brand as approved by Engineer-In-Charge.


All window sections shall have a glazing panel of 4 mm thick float glass of brand
as approved by Engineer-In-Charge. Door closers of approved make shall be
fixed to all toilet doors.


For partition near stair cases, including in door, 8 mm thick frosted glass of brand
and quality as approved by Engineer-In-Charge shall be used and as per
drawing.


Each door shutter shall have one aluminium tower bolt 150 mm long x 10 mm
dia. One Stain less steel American handle 200mm long shall be fixed to each
shutter. For each door, locking arrangement of approved quality shall be
provided. Except for main doors, other doors shall be fixed to frame with stain
  less steel butt hinges 100 mm long and 1.5 mm leaf thickness. Self threading
  sheet metal screws of approved quality shall be used. Except for door closers, all
  the fittings shall be 15 micron colour anodized.


  Sliding folding partition will have the aluminium sections with unit weight not less
  than as specified in the drawings, before anodizing. The accessories for the
  folding partition shall be of the approved brand and manufacture.




Aluminium Composite Panel Cladding :
  3 mm thick interior grade aluminium composite panels from the approve
  manufacture and colour shall be used for cladding to the locations as mentioned
  in the drawing or as directed by the Engineer-In-Charge. It shall be fixed to
  40mm x 25 mm aluminium pipe section fixed to wall surface. All the joints shall
  be sealed with approved quality silicon sealant.


  Painting and Finishing :
  Area of application :
  White wash with lime : All parts of RCC ceiling, beams and wall surfaces hidden
  by false ceiling.
  Super acrylic plastic paint : All the surfaces below false ceiling including bottom
  of false ceiling.
  Cement paint : All the exterior wall area of Officers‟ Club.


  White wash with lime :
  All the RCC surfaces shall be thoroughly be cleaned of all the loose material, cob
  webs etc. Wall area above false ceiling shall be applied two or more coats of
  white wash with lime.


  Super acrylic plastic emulsion :
  All internal surfaces to be treated shall be thoroughly scrapped of all the old
  existing material. Surface shall be treated with putty to remove any scratches and
to make it even. It shall then be rubbed with sand paper etc to render a smooth
even surface. A coat of approved primer shall then be applied over it evenly.


Two or more coats of super acrylic plastic emulsion paint of approved brand,
manufacture and shade shall be applied with brush / rollers as directed by
Engineer-In-Charge to give an even and smooth surface.


Cement paint :
Exterior surface of the building shall be thoroughly washed and all stains, fungus
etc shall be removed. A coat of cement primer of approved brand and
manufacture shall be applied over the it. Two or more coats of cement paint
(Weathershield or equivalent) of approved brand, manufacture and shade shall
be applied to it as directed by Engineer-In-Charge to give an even shade.

                   SPECIFICATIONS FOR ELECTRICAL WORKS



GENERAL :-


The installation shall be generally carried out in confirmatory with the requirements of
Indian Electricity Act 1910 ( as amended up to date ) and the latest Indian Electricity
Rules and Supplementary Regulations of the State Electricity Departments and
Electricity Undertakings and where the installation is subject to inspection and approval
of Fire Insurance and Explosives Authorities, such installation shall be planned and
executed to conform to their special Rules.


1.0        Point Wiring :-
           1.1      Supply :
The following material shall be included in a point wiring and accessories.
      a)         Conduct – PVC rigid 1.5 mm or 2.0 mm thick conduct and accessories.
      b)         Wires- PVC insulated copper conductor multi-stranded flexible type wires ISI
                 mark of 1.-, 1.5, 2.5, 4.0, 6.0, 10, 16 Sq.mm.
      c)         Switches – 5 Amp single pole, two way switch, 5 amp socket, 15 amp
                 modular type switch and socket, fan regulators with flush metal boxes
                 wherever concealed and front plates and boxes of company make for surface
                 mounting all of approved make.
      d)         Cover plates for outlet boxes – 3 mm thick Formica / Hylam sheet specially
                 for electrical purposes.
      e)         Hardware – screws and washers non rusting type brass type.
                 Switch Boards and outlet Boxes – Factory made boxes of approved make for
                 flush mounting for modular type switches and accessories and 16 SWG ms
                 sheet with GI boxes as outlet boxes with knock-outs for conduit entries and
                 tapped holes for screws.
      f)         Holders – Pendant holders / angle holders / ceiling rose etc, of approved
                 make white in colour.
      g)         Industrial Sockets (Modular type) – Industrial type metal clad with metallic
                 top.
1.2   Installation :-
      All conduct shall be concealed / surface mounted in / on walls, beam, column,
      slabs or concealed in false ceiling in all A/C areas etc, by necessary charis or
      clamping with saddles, spacers of hotdeep GI. Made, chans shall be made in
      walls to conceal the conduits and then refilling of the caris with cement mortar All
      switch boards and outlet boxes ( Placed for bracket wall points ) shall be
      concealed / surface in/ on walls and should be kept in line and level with help of
      spirit level. Fan boxes shall be provided with nut welded on top with threaded
      hook and check nut. Wire drawing should be done with the help of draw wire.
      The conduits shall be cleaned of all foreign materials before inserting the wires
      Drawing of wires should be done such that the insulation of wires is not
      damaged.


      All works shall be done as per instruction and satisfaction of the Consultant.
      For surface conducing wiring. The conduit fitting switch/ceiling fan regulator
      boxes etc, shall be installed surface exposed. Flexible conduits shall not be used
      earth continuity conductors. Separate earth wire shall be provided either inside or
      outside the flexible conduits which shall be connected by means of earth clips to
      the earth system at one end and to the equipment at the other end as per IS
      3043-1987 size of wire shall be chosen to limit Voltage drop within 5% Area of
      conductor shall be 1.0,1.5,2.5, 4.00 and 10.0 sq.mm copier. Generally not more
      than 8 to 10 points shall be wired in one circuit.


1.3   Testing :-
      After completion of wiring, installation of switches etc, testing shall be done for
      insulation resistance as specified in the tender,


      Notes No joints shall be allowed in any wires in the conducts, all wires shall only
      be joined or connected at termination points. All circuits shall have individual
      neutrals and one neutral shall not complete the whole wiring system.


      Circuits mans shall start from Distribution board to switch board or from Meter
      board to Distribution. The circuits mains includes supply and installation of two
           nos, of wires with earth wire for single phase mains and four nos. of wires with
           earth wire for three phase mains.
2.1        Supply :-
      a)      Conduct – PVC rigid 2.0 mm thick conduit and accessories.
      b)      Wires – PVC insulated copper conductor multi-stranded flexible type wires ISI
              mark of 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 4.0, 6.0 10., 16 Sq.mt.


2.2        Installation :-


      a)      For conceal wiring system all conducts shall be laid in the slab before casting
              of slab and shall be concealed in walls by making charts in walls and refilling
              the same before the final plaster of wall is done. All the switch boards and
              outlet boxes also shall be installed concealed in line and level.
      b)      For surface wiring system all conducts / PVC trunking shall be clamped with
              hotdeep GI. Saddles / spacers on wall, ceiling, beam, coloum etc, in the align
              with the help of spirit level. All the switch boards and outlet boxes shall be
              surface mounted type and to be installed in line and level.
      c)      Wires shall be drawn in conduit after cleaning of conducts and drawn with the
              help of draw wires. No damage to the insulation of wires should be done
              while drawing.
2.3        Testing :
           After completion of wiring, installation of switches etc, testing shall be done for
           insulation resistance as specified in the tender.
3.0        Distribution Boards :-
3.1        Supply :
           Distribution boards shall be of sheet metal with rated bus bars, factory made.
           They shall be for three phase or single phase distribution system as per the
           requirements or schedule of quantities.
3.2        Installation :-
           The distribution board shall be concealed in wall, flush mounted or surface
           mounted and should be in line and level. These shall be factory tested. Final
           MCBs on sub circuits shall be marked by permanent markers on the DB door.
3.3        Test :
           After installation of MCBs, it shall be tested.
4.0   M.C.B. + ELMCB.
4.1   Supply :
      MCB : These shall be SP.SPN TP or TPN as specified in drawings Rating of 2A,
      6A, 16A, 25A, 30A, 63A, 10KA fault level, as per IS-8828-5978; BS 3871 – Part-1
      ELMCB :- These shall be of SPN. TPN and specified in drawings of rated value.
      ELMCB-BS-4293 neutral advance feature at closing neutral will be first to contact
      at the time of opening neutral breaks last after allowing the phases to open first
      Since the ELCB is to be used as main switch, it shall have afe interrupting
      clearance as per IEC 408/15, 4064. The ELCB shall have terminals to terminate
      aluminium conductor up to 25 mm2. The ELMCB shall have sensitivity of 30 –
      300 mA as per requirements.
4.2   Installation :
      All ELMCB and MCBs shall be installed in the DB on din rail provided in the DB,
      spares shall be blocked by blank plates.
4.3   Testing :-
      All ELMCB should be tested for overloading, short circuit, earth leakage tripping
      and MCBs should be tested for overloading and short circuit tripping.


5.0   Material :-
      All materials, fittings and appliances used in the electrical installation shall be of
      the best quality of approved manufacturer and shall conform to the latest Indian
      Standard Specifications wherever these exist.


6.0   Workmanship :-
      Good workmanship and neat appearance are the prerequisites for compliance
      with the various sections of these specifications. The work shall be carried out
      under direct supervision of a person holding certificate of competency issued by
      the State Government and in accordance with the statutory rules and regulations
      in force. The relevant ISI code of practice shall be followed wherever applicable.


7.0   Drawing :-
      The set of all relevant electrical drawings, with specifications are furnished to the
      contractor for his own use until the completion of the contract. However wherever
      required, detailed rawings shall be prepared and got approved.
       On completion of the work, completion drawings shall be prepared and five
       copies of the same should be submitted to the Employer. The completion
       drawings shall indicate clearly the main switch board, the runs of various mains
       and sub-mains, position of points and their controls. All circuits shall be clearly
       indicated and numbered in the wiring diagrams and all points shall be given the
       same number as the circuit to which they are electrically connected.
8.0    Marking & Apparatus :-
       When a board is connected to voltage higher than 250 volts, all the terminals or
       leads of the apparatus mounted on it shall be marked in the following colours to
       indicate the different poles or phases to which the apparatus or its different
       terminals may have been connected.
       Three phases -          Red, Blue & Yellow
       Neutral         -       Black
       Off wire                -       White or Grey
       Earth wire              -       Green
       Where four wire three phase wiring is done, the neutral shall be in black colour
       and the other three wire in another colour, where has more than one switch, each
       such switch shall be marked to indicate which section of the installation it
       controls. The main switch shall be marked as such and where there is more than
       one main switch is the building, each such switch shall be marked to indicate
       which section of the installation it controls.


       All marking required under this clause shall be clear and permanent.
9.0    Materials :-
       All materials used in the construction of fittings shall be of such quality, design
       and construction that will provide adequate protection in normal use against
       mechanical and electrical failures and exposures to the risk of injury or electric
       shock and shall withstand the effects of exposure to atmosphere.
10.0   Ceiling Rose :
       Ceiling rose and similar attachments –           A ceiling rose or any other similar
       attachments shall not be used on a circuit, the voltage of which normally exceeds
       250 volts, Normally only one flexible cord shall be attached a ceiling rose,
       specially designed ceiling roses shall be used for multiple pendants.
11.0     Socketed Outlets & Plugs :
         A socket outlet shall not embody fuse terminals as an integral part of it. But the
         fuse may be embodied in plug in which case the plug shall be non- reversible
         and shall be so arranged and connected that the fuse is connected to an outer or
         phase conductor or the non- earthed conductor of the circuit. Every socket outlet
         shall be controlled by switch will be on the live side of the line. In an earthed
         system of supply, the outlet and plug shall be three pin type and the third terminal
         connected to earth.


   a)       Every lighting fitting shall be controlled by a switch and where control at more
            than point is necessary by as many as two ways and intermediate switches
            as there are control points.     Lights, fans and socket outlets shall be so
            located as to provide maximum comfort to the occupant and to enable him to
            utilize the electricity in the most economical manner.


   b)       Where conductors are required to be drawn through tube or channel leading
            to the fittings, the tube or channel must be free from sharp angles or
            protecting edges and of such size as will enable them to be wired with the
            conductors used for the final sub-circuit without removing the branding or
            taping. As far as possible all tubes or channels should be of sufficient size to
            permit looping back.


   c)       Where a light fitting is supported by oneor more flexible cords, the maximum
            weight to which the twin flexible cords can be subjected shall be as follows :-

Where a weight is greater than 4.5 kgs (10 labs ) then it has to be supported, two or
three twin flexible cords shall be used so that the maximum weight to which any cord is
subjected does not exceed the above values, or alternatively other support viz. suitable
metal pipe or suitable support shall be provided.


c)     No inflammable shade shall form a part of a light fitting unless such shade is well
       protected against all risks of fire. Celluloid shade or light fitting shall not be used
       under any circumstances.


d)     Enclosed type fittings shall be provided with a removable glass receptacle.
       Arranged to enclose the lamp completely and of such or construction as to
       prevent undue heating of the lamp or if the position of fitting be such that the
       glass receptacle is liable to mechanical damae the glass shall be protected by a
       suitable wire guard.


12.0   Fitting Wire :-
       The use of fitting wire shall be restricted to the internal wiring of the lighting
       fittings. Where fittings wire is used for wiring fittings, the sub-circuit leads shall
       terminate in a celing rose or connector from which they shall be carried into the
       fittings.


13.0   Lamp Holders :-
       Lamp holders for use on brackets and the like shall have not less than 1.3
       cm(1/2) nipple and all those for use with flexible pendant shall be provided with
       cord grips. All lamps holders shall be provided with shade carriers. Where centre
       contract Edison screw lamp holders are used, the outer or screw contract shall
       be connected to the middle wire or the neutral or to the earthed conductor of the
       circuit.
14.0   Lamps :-
       All incandescent lamps, unless otherwise required, shall be hung at height of 2.5
       m (8ft ) above the floor level They shall be provided with caps of the following
       patterns :-
       Upto and including 200 watt.           - Standard Bayonet (B)
       Above 200 watts and not                - Edison Screw ( E.S )
        Exceeding ing 300 watts.
        Above 300 watts                             - Gollath Screw (GS)


15.0    Fans, Regulators and Clamps :-
   1)      `Ceilings Fans :- Ceiling fans including their suspension shall conform to
           IS:374-1951 and to the following requirements :-
        a) All ceiling fans shall be wired to ceiling roses or to special connector boxes
           and suspended from hooks or shackles with insulators between hooks and
           suspension roads. There shall be no joint in the suspension rod but if joints
           are unavoidable then such joints (2”) minimum length and both ends of the
           pipes shall touch together within couplers and shall in addition to, be secured
           by means of split pins : alternatively the two pipes may be welded.
        b) Canopies on top of suspension rod shall effectively hide the suspension.
        c) The leadings-in-wire shall be nominal cross section area not less than 0.002
           sq. inch (3.00,029” ) and shall be protected from abrasion.
   2)      Exhaust fans shall be erected at the places indicated by the Architects. For
           fixing an exhaust fan, a circular hole shall be provided in the wall to suit the
           size of the frame, which shall be fixed by means of rag bolt embedded in the
           wall. The exhaust fan shall be aired as near to the hole as possible by
           means of a flexible cord, care being taken that the blades rotates in the
           proper direction.


TESTING OF INSTALLATION :-
16.0    Insulation Resistance :-
   a)      The insulation resistance shall be measured by applying between earth and
           the whole system of conductors or any section there of with all fuses in place
           and all switches closed and except in earthed concentric wiring all lamps in
           position or both poles of the installation otherwise     electrically connected
           together, a direct current pressure of not less than twice the working pressure
           provided that it need not exceed 500 volts for medium voltage circuits. Where
           the supply is derived from the three wire (AC or DC) or a poly phase system,
           the neutral pole of which is connected to earth either direct 0.1 through
           added resistance, the working pressure shall be deemed to be that which is
           maintained between the outer or phase conductor and the neutral.
b)   The insulation resistance measured as above shall not be less than 50,
     divided by the number of points on the circuits provided that the whole
     installation shall be required to have an insulation resistance greater than one
     megohm.
c)   Control rheostats, heating and power appliances and electrical sings may, it
     required, be disconnected from the circuit during the test, but in that event the
     insulation resistance between the case of frame work and all live parts or
     each rheostat appliance and sign shall not be less than that specified in the
     relevant IS Specifications shall not be less than half a megohm.
d)   The insulation resistance shall also be measured between all conductors
     connected to one or phase conductor of the supply and all the conductors
     connected to the middle wire or the neutral or to the other pole or phase
     conductor of the supply and its value shall not be less than that specified in
     sub clause (b).
e)   On completion of an electric installation ( or an extension to an installation ) a
     certificate shall be furnished by the contractor countersigned by the qualified
     supervisor the installation was carried out. The certificate shall be in the
     prescribed form as required by the local electrical supply authorities. One
     such recommended form as given in appendix –B.
     Testing of earth continuity path : The earth continuity conductor including
     metal conduits and metallic envelopes of cables in all cases shall be tested
     for electric continuity and the electricity resistance of the same along with the
     earthing lead but excluding any added resistance or earth leakage circuit –
     breaker measured from the connection with the earth celectrode to any point
     in the earth continuity conductor in the completed installation shall not exceed
     one ohm.
     Testing of polarity of non- linked single pole switches :-
a)   In a two wire installation a test shall be made to verify that all non – linked
     single pole switches have been fitted in the same conductor throughout and
     such conductor shall be labeled or marked for connection to an outer of
     phase conductor or to the non- earthed conductor of the supply.
b)   In a three wire or a four wire installation, a test shall be made to verify that
     every non- linked single pole switch is fitted in a conductor which is labeled or
     marked for connection to one of the outer or phase conductor of the supply.
17.0   CONDUIT CAPACITY :-
       Maximum number of PVC insulated cables confirming to IS: 694-1977 that can
       be drawn in one conduit shall be as follows :-

       Note :-
             1.       The above table shows the max. capacity of conduits for a
                      simultaneous drawing of cables.
             2.       The columns headed “S” applies to runs of conduit which have
                      distance not exceeding 4.25mm between drawn in boxes and which
                      do not deflect from the straight by an angle of more than 15 The
                  columns headed “B” apply to runs of conduit which deflect from the
                  stranght by an angle of more than 15.


18.0   CABLES :
18.1   Cables shall be supplied by Electrical Contractor.
18.2   Cable Specifications :-
       All cables shall be as per latest IS 1554 part 1 PVC insulated heavy duty
       electricity cables part 1 for working voltages upto and including 1 100V.


       All power cables shall be PVC insulated, armoured, inner sheathed, PVC
       insulated aluminium conductor, control cables shall be of copper conductor.


       The core insulation and inner sheath shall confirm to the requirement of Type A
       15 5831 STI is respectively. Similarly for outer sheath, Cables shall have armour
       of steel wire upto O D of 18 mm and flat steel strip for higher OD.


       Cables shall be supplied in drums of 1000 mts for and upto 6 Sq. mm and 10 sq.
       mm and above in 500 mts.


18.3   Cabling :-
       Cabling shall be done with help of jack and rollers. Cable shall be passed
       through RCC Hume pipe wherever road crossing or pathway crossing is there all
       cables shall rise from cable trenches in GI Pipes, cable shall be tagged as per
       cable schedule at every 30 mtrs, by aluminium tags of minimum 2 mm thick
       securely fastened. They shall also be identified near the terminations.


       Above the cable trenches cable route markers shall be installed as per rules and
       regulations at every 30 mts and at every turnings of the cables or branching of
       cables.


       All cables shall be laid in trenches at a depth of 750mm and as shown in
       drawings., Before laying of cables sand shall be spread then the cable shall be
       laid which shall again be covered with sand minimum 150mm from the top of the
       largest dia of the cable. Then second class bricks shall be laid across the trench
       completely covering the trench, lastly excavated soil be back filled and
       compacted by watering intermittently.


       All cables after laid shall be checked for insulation level and meggered before
       back filling. Cable entries in GI pipes or Hume pipes shall be sealed by cable
       compound or putty for smaller dia of pipes.


       If required for the cable to run on cable trays then the cable shall be clamped by
       16 SWG GI saddles and damps all works should be done to the satisfaction of
       the Engg – in- charge.


18.4   Terminations :-
       Cable shall be terminated by means of single compression glands and
       terminated by solderless crimped type lugs, All should be done to the satisfaction
       of the Engg, in charge. If the cores do not have any colour identification, then
       they should be identified by insulation tape of various phases. Cable shall enter
       any termination point by means of double compression glands, using reducers if
       required or drill of holes in gland plates. If panel installed on a cable trench which
       does not have any bottom excess then holes shall be drilled in one line for the
       cables then the gland plates is cut into two halves from the centre of the hole.
       Cables inserted and sealed and the armourin the bottom should open and
       earthed to the earth bus. Crimping of lugs shall be done by hand crimping tool or
       hydraulic crimping tool with conducting jelly applied to conductors. Insulation
       shall be cut immediately after the lugs and care should be taken that the
       conductor is not left open. All jointing and crimping shall be carried out by
       licensed and experienced jointers approved E.I.C. and termination and straight
       joint shall be of Taped or heat shrinkable type as specified.


18.5   Testing :-
       Before energizing, the megger test shall be carried out for insulation resistance
       between phase to phase and phase to earth.


       For cable up to 1.1 KV grade 1000 KV magger shall be used.
     D.C. High Voltage test shall be conducted after installation on the following and
     test results are recorded as per format furnished by the Engineer-in-charge.


     a) All 1000 volts grade cables in which straight through joints have been made.
     b) All cables above 1100 V grade.
     For record purposes test data shall include the measure values of leakage
     current verses time.


     The DC High voltage test shall be performed as detailed below in the presence of
     the ELC or his authorized representative only.


     Cables shall be installed in final position with all the straight through joints
     complete, Termination shall be kept on unfinished so that the motors,
     switchgears, transformers , etc are not subjected to test voltages.


     The test voltage shall be as under :
     I)     for cable 3.3 Kv Grade                5.4 KV DC
     ii)    for cable 66 KV Grade                 10.8 KV DC
     iii)   for cable 11 kv grade                 18 KV DC


     cable schedule and layout drawings must be marked for AS BUILT conditions
     during the installations work and shall be approved by the site engg.


     IDENTIFICATION OF EARTHED AND EARTHED NEUTRAL CONDUCTORS
     AND POSITION OF SWITCHES AND CUTOUTS THEREIN :-


     Where the conductors include an earthed conductor of two-wire system or an
     earthed neutral conductor of a multi-wire system or a conductor which is to be
     connected thereto, the following nature shall be completed with:


1.   An indication of a permanent nature shall be provided by the owner of the
     earthed or earthed neutral conductor, or the conductor which is to be connected
     thereto, to enable such conductor to be distinguished from any live conductor,
     Such indication shall be provided.
     a) Whether the earthed or earthed neutral conductor is the property of the bidder, at
        or near the point of commencement of the supply.
     b) Where a conductor forming part of a consumer‟s system is to be connected to
        the bidders earthed or earthed neutral conductor, at the point whether such
        connection is to be made
     c) In all other cases, at a point corresponding to the point of commencement of
        supply or at such other point as may be approved by an inspector.
2.      No cut-out, link or switch other than a linked-switch arranged to operate
        simulateneously on the earthed or earthed neutral conductor and live conductor
        shall be inserted or remain inserted in any earthed or earthed neutral conductor
        of a two wire system or in any earthed or earthed neutral conductor of a multi-
        wire system or in any conductor connected thereto with the following exceptions.
     a) A link for testing purposes – OR A switch for use in controlling a generator or
        transformer.
