                                Revise Existing 3-A Standards and Accepted Practices
                                            (Note: The Inactive Proposal Chart follows the Active Cart)

This chart lists projects the 3-A SSI Working Groups are currently undertaking. It is updated on a routine basis. If a project has more than six months without any
activity it is subject to removal from this chart and placed on the Inactive Projects Chart.

Working Group Priorities — The following are the priorities of the Working Groups in developing new and revising existing 3-A Sanitary Standards and 3-A
Accepted Practices:

1. 3-A Sanitary Standards and 3-A Accepted Practice revisions in progress from the May 3-A SSI Annual Meeting.
2. Requests for new and to revise existing Standards and Accepted Practices approved by the Steering Committee.
3. Those Standards and Accepted Practices more than five years old, not in the above two categories. (Procedures state that these have to be reviewed for
   currentness and revised if deemed out of date.)

                                                                                        During the October 10, 2006 WG 1 conference call, the
                                                                                        five-year revision of Standard 05-15 was incorporated into
                                                                                        Proposal T-05-16. The tank vent requirements (although
                                                                                        not addressed in standard 05-15) will be addressed in a
                                                                                        proposed new standard, designated by T-95-00, Automotive
                                                                                        Transportation Tanker Vents.

                                                                                        The revision has progressed nicely, with several conference
                                                                                        calls being held to develop and review the draft.
                             C. 22-08, Silo-Type Storage      T-22-09 Silo-Type         22-09 Silo-Type Storage Tanks: This is the 5-year
                                Tanks for Milk and Milk       Storage Tanks:            revision of Standard 22-. On March 2, 2007 Phil Wolff

                                                                                        resolve these comments.

                                                                                        Document Leader Phil Wolff addressed the comments and
                                                                                        on July 14, 2008 sent the draft, containing the technical
                                                                                        changes that were the result of comment resolution, to staff.
                                                                                        Since the technical changes were numerous, the proposal
                                                                                        was sent to WG 1 as a 2nd WG 1 original ballot. The ballot
                                                                                        went out on July 24, 2008. The ballot passed numerically,

                                                                                            In May 2006 Mr. Thomeczek suggested that the wording
                                                                                            could be revised in T-24-03 to accommodate small volume
                                                                                            batch pasteurizers. This would eliminate the need to create
                                                                                            T-89-00.

                                                                                            In October 2006 Mr. Tomeczek reported that a Work Group
                                                                                            1 ballot should be forthcoming soon for the T-24-03
                                                                                            proposal. The draft was reworked by staff to convert it to
                                                                                            the current Format & Style Manual format. There are
                                                                                            monthly Document Subgroup conference calls to develop
                                                                                            the draft.

                                                                                            T-24-03 was balloted to Work Group 1 on March 7, 2008.
                                                                                            The ballot passed, but one “Negative with reasons” vote
                                                                                            was returned. The person submitting this vote asked for a
                                                                                            recirculation ballot to determine if his proposed technical
                                                                                            changes was persuasive or not. The recirculation ballot was
                                                                                            sent to WG 1 on April 29, 2008.

                                                                                            The WG recirculation “A” ballot had a split vote — the
                                                                                            manufacturers and processors approved the proposed
                                                                                            technical change and the Sanitarians did not. The Work
                                                                                            Group must now resolve the issue, or the issue must be
                                                                                            withdrawn, for the proposal to move to Consensus Body
                                                                                            ballot.

                                                                                            The T-24-03 draft was reworked with Sanitarian input.
                                                                                            Technical changes were made, a large enough number to
                                                                                            warrant a second original Work Group 1 ballot, where the
                                                                                            whole draft is open for voting and comment. On December

                                                                                              10, 2008 this second ballot was distributed to Work Group
                                                                                              1. The ballot closed on January 26, 2009.

                                                                                              Only one substantive comment was returned. The person
                                                                                              submitting the comment did not agree with the proposed
                                                                                              validation requirements in sections E1.11.1, E1.11.2, and
                                                                                              E1.15.1.2.2 and said that not all tank manufacturers are
                                                                                              equipped to handle, store, and dispose of product. Also, in
                                                                                              an engineered-to-order environment, it is not feasible to
                                                                                              require validation testing every time a user requests special
                                                                                              tank dimensions, this person commented. The desired
                                                                                              language was submitted with the ballot comment.

                                                                                              Chair McWilliams resolved this comment and in addition,
                                                                                              responded to all of those who provided other (editorial)
                                                                                              comments, as well (all were “affirm with comments votes).
                                                                                              The draft was passed by the Work Group.

                                                                                              The proposal went to Consensus Body ballot on November
                                                                                              12, 2009.

                          F. 29-02, Air Eliminators for Milk   T-29-03 Air                    T-29-03 Air Eliminators: On February 3, 2006 Mr.

                                                                                              circulation ballot went to WG 1 on April 11, 2007. The
                                                                                              ballot passed. The few editorial comments returned were
                                                                                              addressed.

                                                                                        The draft of T-29-03 to be balloted to the Consensus Body
                                                                                        was developed, incorporating changes identified by both
                                                                                        Work Group ballots. The draft was sent to staff. On March
                                                                                        18, 2008 Proposal T-29-03 was balloted to the Consensus
                                                                                        Body.

                                                                                        The Consensus Body Ballot for Proposal T-29-03 passed
                                                                                        numerically, but one “Negative with reasons” and several
                                                                                        editorial comments were returned. The Work Group must
                                                                                        attempt to resolve the “Negative with reasons” comment.
                                                                                        Any technical changes to the proposal, made as a result of
                                                                                        comment resolution, will require a Work Group re-
                                                                                        circulation “B” and CB recirculation ballots.

                                                                                        On September 23, 2009 Mr. Ksiazek reported he needs to
                                                                                        rework a couple of sections based on Mr. Schonrock‟s
                                                                                        comments and then the draft will be ready for recirculation
                                                                                        ballot.
                          G. 32-02, Uninsulated Tanks for   T-32-03 Uninsulated         T-32-03 Uninsulated Tanks: On February 3, 2006 Mr.
                             Milk & Milk Products           Tanks: Steve                McWilliams reported that he developed a first draft and

                                                                                        On May 23, 2006 Mr. McWilliams reported that a second

                                                                                        comments on the first draft. The Work Group will be
                                                                                        forwarded the second draft for review and comment when
                                                                                        completed.

                                                                                        This proposal adds ball bearings to the “Non-metals” list
                                                                                        appearing in C2.1 for items that may be made from plastic.

                                                                                         In addition, the statement “Bearings having a product
                                                                                         contact or solution contact surface shall be of a non-
                                                                                         lubricated type” is being proposed as section D6.2.

                                                                                         On March 14, 2005 Terry Gardner (previous Document
                                                                                         leader and originator of the proposal) sent staff the proposal
                                                                                         and request to ballot it to WG 3.

                                                                                         The proposal went to WG 3 ballot on April 7, 2005. The
                                                                                         ballot did not pass. The Ballot report and the possibility of
                                                                                         discontinuing the project were discussed during the Work
                                                                                         Group 3 meeting on May 24, 2005. No conclusions were
                                                                                         reached.

                                                                                         During the September 16, 2005 WG 3 conference call, the
                                                                                         decision was made to table this proposal, perhaps
                                                                                         indefinitely.

                                                                                         This proposal was originally under WG 3 (Valves &
                                                                                         Fittings) and in June 2008, a mutual decision was reached
                                                                                         between WG 1 and 3 chairs to move Standard 78- under the
                                                                                         auspice of Work Group 1, due to this being the more
                                                                                         appropriate WG for the equipment covered by the standard.

                                                                                         The proposal was reopened for development in June 2008.
                          I. 84-00, Personnel Access Ports   T-84-02 Personnel           T-84-02 Personnel Access Ports for Wet Applications:

                                                                                         PAP has no control over where it is installed so there is no
                                                                                         way for a CCE to verify accessibility during a TPV of the
                                                                                         PAP. The 3-A Sanitary Standards for the equipment that
                                                                                         the PAP will be part of will require all appurtenances to be
                                                                                         easily accessible. So accessibility should not be addressed
                                                                                         in this standard. Therefore, USDA suggests that Section
                                                                                         B9 be deleted and has suggested new wording.

                                                                                  March 13, 2006 the Steering Committee referred the
                                                                                  proposal to WG 1 for further development. Work is under
                                                                                  way.

                                                                                  The first draft went to WG 1 for review and comment on
                                                                                  January 8, 2007.

                                                                                  Staff received the second draft to ballot to WG 1. The WG
                                                                                  1 ballot went out on March 12, 2008. The ballot passed
                                                                                  numerically, but two substantive (“negative with reasons”)
                                                                                  votes and related comments were returned, along with
                                                                                  several editorial comments.

                                                                                  The comments were addressed by Mr. Wolff and a new
                                                                                  draft was developed that contained too many technical
                                                                                  changes for a recirculation ballot. The Work Group 1 ballot
                                                                                  for this draft was a Second Original Ballot. It was issued on
                                                                                  August 25, 2008 and it closed on October 13, 2008.
                                                                                  Although passing numerically, two “negative with reasons”
                                                                                  votes were returned suggesting technical changes to the
                                                                                  draft. Both persons commenting asked that the clause on
                                                                                  Personnel Access Port (PAP) Cover be removed. This
                                                                                  clause defines the exterior surface finish of the PAP as
                                                                                  being 32 micro-inch. One of the persons commenting also
                                                                                  suggests stipulating that if the PAP cover is capable of
                                                                                  swinging inside the tank, then its surface finish must be 32
                                                                                  micro inch, and that this change be added as an exception to
                                                                                  the Non-Product Contact Surfaces section of the revision.

                                                                                  The recirculation “A” ballot for this proposed technical
                                                                                  change went to the Work Group on February 13, 2009. The
                                                                                  sole suggested change balloted passed and will be written
                                                                                  into the draft. The draft will be sent to Consensus Body
                                                                                  ballot.

                                                                                       On December 7, 2006 the Steering Committee approved
                                                                                       Work Group developing this standard.

                                                                                       The Work Group ballot draft was completed and sent to
                                                                                       WG 1 ballot on March 1, 2007. The ballot did not pass.
                                                                                       Numerous comments were returned needing resolution.

                                                                                       The comments were resolved and due to the extensive
                                                                                       proposed technical changes, a second “original” Work
                                                                                       Group ballot was issued on April 23, 2008. The ballot
                                                                                       passed numerically. There was one “Negative with reasons”
                                                                                       vote. Several editorial comments were returned, as well, for
                                                                                       consideration.

                                                                                       Mr. McWilliams has resolved the comments associated with
                                                                                       the “negative with reasons” vote through editorial changes
                                                                                       and made some additional editorial changes. The draft was
                                                                                       approved by the Work Group.

                                                                                        The proposal seeks to delete the above mentioned polishing

                                                                                        The T-33-02 Document Subgroup developed the wording
                                                                                        for the revision. On June 6, 2008 the draft was balloted to
                                                                                        Work Group 3. Four “Negative with reasons” votes were
                                                                                        returned.

                                                                                        The draft was revised with a proposed change in scope and
                                                                                        deletion of the welding standard references. On April 6,
                                                                                        2008 the recirculation “A” ballot was sent to Work Group
                                                                                        3. The ballot was “split” — the manufacturers and
                                                                                        sanitarians passed the proposed changes and the processors
                                                                                        did not. Since the vote was split, the Work Group needed to
                                                                                        discuss the ballot and reach an agreement on the proposed
                                                                                        revisions before the draft can move to Consensus Body
                                                                                        ballot.

                                                                                        Some ballot comments were withdrawn. Discussions
                                                                                        produced a proposed change in the scope to stipulate that
                                                                                        piping systems were excluded from the standard. This was
                                                                                        the subject of a re-circulation ballot, which passed.

                                                                                        The now accepted by Work Group 3 draft went to
                                                                                        Consensus Body ballot on June 11, 2009. The ballot closed
                                                                                        and a substantive comment was returned that was resolved
                                                                                        without a re-circulation ballot. The revised standard was

                                                            Company                     Clem reported that about a year ago Standard 55- was

                                                                                        Recently, a representative of a company that manufactures
                                                                                        valves contacted Mr. Clem, wishing to apply for a 3-A
                                                                                        Symbol under the boot-seal valve standard. Because of this,
                                                                                        it is desired to reactivate the boot seal valve standard, Mr.
                                                                                        Clem said.

                                                                                        It is hoped to update retired standard 55- to the current
                                                                                        Format & Style Manual language, modify the diagrams,
                                                                                        and make some technical changes.

                                                                                        On January 30, 2008 Mr. Clem reported that a proposal to
                                                                                        reactivate and revise the Boot-Seal Valve standard will soon
                                                                                        be conveyed to the Steering Committee for consideration
                                                                                        and possible referral to Work Group 3 for development. Mr.
                                                                                        Clem will write the first draft of the revision and send it,
                                                                                        along with the request to revise the standard, to the Steering
                                                                                        Committee (though staff). The first draft is currently being
                                                                                        worked on.

                                                                                        On May, 19, 2008 Mr. Clem reported that he is in the
                                                                                        process of developing appendix graphics for the proposal.
                                                                                        The text of the previously withdrawn standard was updated
                                                                                        to reflect the current Format & Style Manual text.

                                                                                        TheT-55-02 Document Subgroup met on December 19,
                                                                                        2008 and has met about every two months thereafter, and
                                                                                        until the draft was completed for a Work Group 3 review in
                                                                                        August 2009. The draft was reviewed by the entire Work
                                                                                        Group and deemed ready for ballot.

                                                                                   „sump‟ when mounted horizontally which will always retain
                                                                                   liquid. Another valve type includes a “hybrid” valves that
                                                                                   have offset outlet ports to allow them to be self draining,
                                                                                   except for normal clingage, in both directions when
                                                                                   installed horizontally. By the nature of their function, these
                                                                                   valves will not drain down in the vertical attitude,
                                                                                   particularly with a rubber to metal seal, unless they can be
                                                                                   „actuated‟ in some way and the hybrid one has a
                                                                                   hermetically sealed magnetic core so it can be actuated
                                                                                   remotely to drain the vertical pipe work above the valve.
                                                                                   Another design that may be addressed is a valve that
                                                                                   utilizes an enclosed threaded connection between two parts
                                                                                   of the plug assembly to retain the O-ring seat seal and seal
                                                                                   the enclosed threads, similar to the pump nut scenario, and
                                                                                   58-00 is silent on this type of construction.

                                                                                     On November 5, 2008 Document Leader Murray Smith
                                                                                     reported that he has resolved all outstanding comments
                                                                                     pertaining to the Work Group ballot and has sent staff a
                                                                                     revised draft. Four proposed technical changes requested
                                                                                     during the Original Work Group ballot were identified.

                                                                                     On January 6, 2009 the Work Group recirculation “A”

                                                                                On February 1, 2008 the Steering Committee referred the
                                                                                proposal to WG 3 for development.

                                                                                The Document Subgroup is meeting regularly and as of
                                                                                December 18, 2008 has almost completed a draft that is
                                                                                ready for balloting to Work Group 3.

                                                                                In addition, it was decided to roll proposal T-85-01 into T-
                                                                                85-02. The former is to address the same issues that placed
                                                                                TPVs on hold for the 53- Compression-Type Valves
                                                                                standard.

                                                                                On July 13, 2009 Mr. Clem sent T-85-02 to staff to ballot to
                                                                                Work Group 3. This followed a Work Group 3 review and
                                                                                comment period, where a few editorial changes were
                                                                                suggested. On July 16, 2009 staff sent Proposal T-85-02 to
                                                                                Work Group 3 ballot.

                                                                                The ballot closed on September 2, 2009 and there were four
                                                                                “Negative with reasons” votes returned along with a few
                                                                                editorial comments. Document Leader Lyle Clem
                                                                                communicated with those who provided substantive
                                                                                comments and was able to resolve all issues through
                                                                                explanation (some of those who voted “negative with
                                                                                reasons” then approved the draft) and through two editorial
                                                                                changes, which added clarity to the draft, the remaining
                                                                                person who voted against the draft approved it.

                                                                                Work Group 3 (Valves & Fittings) has now approved
                                                                                Proposal T-85-02 in its entirety and on September 21, 2009
                                                                                it was presented to the Consensus Body for voting. The
                                                                                ballot closed and a substantial (“negative with reasons”)
                                                                                vote and comment was returned. An attempt needs to be
                                                                                made to resolve this comment. Resolution may require a
                                                                                Work Group recirculation “B” ballot and final confirmation
                                                                                by the Consensus Body.

                                                                                          On a WG 4 July 18, 2005 Conference call discussion

                                                                                          than 135° on product contact surfaces. Don Wilding
                                                                                          reported that Sanitarians most likely would not approve this
                                                                                          change. It was also reported that the USDA position is that
                                                                                          a blanket 1/32 inch radii specification is not allowed.

                                                                                          In November 2005 the T-02-11 Document Subgroup polled
                                                                                          all WG 4 pump manufacturers and 02-09 Symbol Holders
                                                                                          and asked them what pump components must have 1/16
                                                                                          and 1/32 inch radii exemptions for “essential functional
                                                                                          reasons”. The data was compiled and sent to WG 4. On
                                                                                          12/21/05 there was a WG 4 conference call to discuss the
                                                                                          data and further develop Proposal T-02-11. It was decided
                                                                                          by the Work Group that managing the radius exemption list
                                                                                          would be a monumental task and decided instead to
                                                                                          stipulate in the draft that specifications must call for “not
                                                                                          less than 1/32 inch” radii for all internal angles of less than
                                                                                          135° on product contact surfaces. It was agreed to ballot the
                                                                                          proposal to the Work Group. The ballot was distributed on
                                                                                          January 9, 2006. The ballot closed February 27th and did
                                                                                          not pass. The Work Group needs to review ballot comments
                                                                                          returned.

                                                                                The two suggested technical changes passed, without any
                                                                                “negative with reasons” votes. A few editorial comments
                                                                                were received.

                                                                                    During the Work Group 6 meeting in May 2005 the T-81-
                                                                                    01 Document Subgroup asked staff to send them the ballot
                                                                                    report from the February 19, 2004 CSP Ballot. The
                                                                                    Subgroup will review the ballot report and will revise the
                                                                                    proposal, using the ballot report and the 3-A Format and
                                                                                    Style Manual as input.

                                                                                    During the WG 6 meeting in May 2007 the Document
                                                                                    Subgroup was formed and Mr. Olson volunteered to lead
                                                                                    the revived revision effort. The first conference call to
                                                                                    begin the revision again was held July 19, 2007.
                                                                                    Conference calls have been occurring on a monthly basis,
                                                                                    with several draft revisions occurring.

                                                                                    In October 2007 draft was sent to staff to review for proper
                                                                                    format and to ballot to Work Group 6. The WG ballot went
                                                                                    out on February 28, 2008. The ballot did not pass.

                                                                                     comments, and sent to WG 8 re-circulation ballot on July
                                                                                     26, 2006. The ballot passed, with two “Negative with
                                                                                     reasons” votes. The comments were addressed and the draft
                                                                                     technically changed.

                                                                                     A Work Group re-circulation ballot was issued on
                                                                                     December 1, 2006. This re-circulation ballot did pass, and
                                                                                     without any “negative with reason” votes returned. Several
                                                                                     “affirmative with comments” votes were returned. Through
                                                                                     reviewing the draft the T-610-02 Document Subgroup made
                                                                                     a few additional technical changes. These latest technical
                                                                                     changes were balloted to the Work Group as a third re-
                                                                                     circulation ballot, on March 19, 2007. The ballot passed
                                                                                     with no “No” votes.

                                                                                     During the 2007 3-A Annual Meeting the T-610-02
                                                                                     Document Subgroup finalized the draft for a Consensus
                                                                                     Body ballot. The draft went to CB ballot on July 9, 2007.
                                                                                     The Consensus Body Ballot met the numerical
                                                                                     requirements for passage, but there were substantive
                                                                                     comments returned.

                                                                                    another “original” Work Group, in which the ballot process

                                                                                    The draft was significantly and technically rewritten when
                                                                                    addressing the Consensus Body ballot comments. As per
                                                                                    Steering Committee direction, these changes necessitated an
                                                                                    additional “original” Work Group ballot, in which the
                                                                                    process started over. There were too many technical
                                                                                    changes to re-circulate back to the Work Group as

                                                                                    The new original ballot went to the Work Group on June
                                                                                    30, 2008. The ballot closed 45 days later and did not pass
                                                                                    because one of the three stakeholder groups did not pass the
                                                                                    proposal. Document Leader Steve Warren worked with
                                                                                    those Work Group members who provided substantive
                                                                                    comments and reworked the draft proposal, based on the
                                                                                    comments.

                                                                                    In December 2008 a new draft, incorporating five technical
                                                                                    changes (and several editorial changes) based on the
                                                                                    comments, was sent to staff. 3-A SSI Staff developed the
                                                                                    Work Group re-circulation “A” ballot from this new draft.
                                                                                    The ballot was sent to Work Group 8 on January 29, 2009
                                                                                    and closes on March 17th.

                                                                                    All five proposed changes were adopted by the Work
                                                                                    Group and were written into the draft. The draft went to
                                                                                    Consensus Body ballot on April 8, 2009.

                                                                                    The Consensus Body closed with one substantive comment
                                                                                    returned. This comment was later withdrawn after an
                                                                                    editorial changes was made. This revision has been
                                                                                    approved and was published July 27, 2009.

                                                                                            In January 2009 the proposal was completed, including an
                                                                                            extensive review by Work Group 11. The letter ballot for
                                                                                            this proposed new Accepted Practice went to WG 11 on
                                                                                            January 26, 2009. There were substantive comments that
                                                                                            require attempted resolution (and possibly a WG 11 re-
                                                                                            circulation ballot) before the draft can advance to
                                                                                            Consensus Body ballot.

                                                                                            In January 2009 Proposal T-613-00 was completed and
                                                                                            underwent an extensive review by Work Group 11. The
                                                                                            letter ballot for this proposed new Accepted Practice went
                                                                                            to Work Group 11 on January 26, 2009. There were
                                                                                            substantive comments returned that require attempted
                                                                                            resolution (and possibly a WG 11 re-circulation ballot)
                                                                                            before the draft can advance to Consensus Body ballot.

                                                                                            During the 2009 Annual Meeting Work Group 11 session,
                                                                                            Chair Miller (also the Document Leader) led a line-by-line
                                                                                            review of the changes to Proposal T-613-00, made as the
                                                                                            result of the Work Group ballot comments received. The
                                                                                            following questions arose during the review:

                                                                                            • Do we need to delete the Fabrication section, since once
                                                                                            approved this will be an Accepted Practice?
                                                                                            • Should the Materials and Fabrications clauses be moved to
                                                                                            the Appendix?
                                                                                            • Should manufacturing criteria be removed from T-613-00
                                                                                            and the Format and Style Manual verbiage be used for this
                                                                                            criteria?

                                                                                            No conclusions were reached. Mr. Miller said he plans to
                                                                                            schedule a T-613-00 Document Subgroup conference call
                                                                                            in the near future to discuss these items.

                                                                                     The comments were addressed by Paul Rebe. In addressing
                                                                                     these comments, Mr. Rebe made technical changes to the
                                                                                     draft that led to the development of the sixth revision that
                                                                                     necessitated a re-circulation ballot. The Work Group 12 re-
                                                                                     circulation ballot went out on April 23, 2007. Although
                                                                                     passing numerically, there is one “negative with reasons”
                                                                                     comment that needs to be addressed.

                                                                                     To address the ballot issue, the draft was reworked during
                                                                                     the WG 12 meeting at the 2007 Annual Meeting. This
                                                                                     generated four technical changes. On January 8, 2008 a
                                                                                     Work Group re-circulation ballot went out for these
                                                                                     changes. All proposed changes passed. The Consensus
                                                                                     Body ballot is next.

                                                                                     The Consensus Body draft has been developed and the
                                                                                     ballot went out on April 27, 2009. The ballot closed and did
                                                                                     not pass. Several substantive comments were returned that
                                                                                     need an attempt at resolution.

                                                                                   On October 1, 2008 staff sent the first draft of T-18-04,

                                                                                   As of March, 2009, conference calls are being regularly
                                                                                   held. There is a proposal to change the definitions of the
                                                                                   rubber classes and talk about seeking a “grandfathering” for
                                                                                   current rubber formulations as meeting Standard 18- after
                                                                                   the test requirements of the standard are substantially
                                                                                   revised.

                                                                                   During the Work Group 13 session at the May 2009 Annual
                                                                                   Meeting, an abrupt course of action was taken. It was
                                                                                   decided to halt work on revising Standard 18-03 and
                                                                                   instead, ballot the Work Group to re-affirm the current
                                                                                   standard. A major driver for this decision was the
                                                                                   perception that the Steering Committee would require
                                                                                   currently-accepted rubber materials (under Standard 18-03)
                                                                                   to meet the revised standard. This would entail testing to
                                                                                   the new requirements.

                                                                                   Proposal T-18-04 is on hold.

                                                                                   The re-affirmation of Standard 18-03 is cataloged as
                                                                                   Proposal T-18-07.

                                                                                    standard for the pharmaceutical industry for rubber and
                                                                                    rubber-like materials and includes in vivo testing of
                                                                                    materials for toxicological impact.

                                                                                    The proposal ascertains these materials will still be tested
                                                                                    against the existing sections C and D of the Standard and
                                                                                    further, Class III or greater means that extracts of the
                                                                                    material are prepared in vegetable oil, propylene glycol 400,
                                                                                    sodium chloride injection solution, and alcohol in sodium
                                                                                    chloride and are subjected to live mouse and rabbit testing.

                                                                                    The proposal included the desired wording changes.

                                                                                    Submitted to the 3-A Steering Committee on March 25,
                                                                                    2008 for consideration and possible referral to WG 13 for
                                                                                    development. On May 12, 2008 the Steering Committee
                                                                                    approved of WG 13 developing the proposal.
