Sunday morning services at 9.30am at Waitara during November 2009 will
be led by Rev. Ann Hogan.           The service on 1 November will include
celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion in which everyone is
invited to take part. A retiring offering for our Living is Giving projects will be
received at that service.
On 8 November we welcome to speak to us Rev. John Barr, Asian
representative of UnitingWorld who has recently visited North Korea.

 Everybody who is attending our services and other activities is most welcome. If
 you are visiting or new to the area, please make yourself known to one of the
 Elder greeters, and (if you wish) complete a pink Visitors’ form. A yellow
 Contact slip is also available for anyone wishing to have contact with or a visit
 from our Minister. Following morning worship a time of fellowship with
 morning tea is held in the church hall to which everyone is invited. Members are
 asked to please wear name badges regularly to help people know and greet one

             *** MEN’S FELLOWSHIP OPEN NIGHT ***
The Combined Men’s Fellowship will celebrate their 20th Anniversary with
dinner and entertainment in the Waitara hall on Saturday 7th November from
5pm to about 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome. Late dinner bookings please
let Graham Ivey (9476.5011) know immediately on 1st November.

                         ** SACRED SPACE **
St. John’s Wahroonga will have an Open Door to sit, pray, or pause on the
journey to rediscover God in your life – first Sunday each month 6-9pm.
                            ** PICNIC **
Remembering our friendships with others in the district, there will be a
Combined Church Picnic at Crosslands Reserve, Hornsby Heights on
Sunday 15th November from 12 noon. BYO food and drinks to share.

   o Men’s Fellowship “Possums’” rehearsal – Monday 2nd November
       at 7.30pm in Karinya lounge;
   o Tuesday Trekkers (walking group) head for Sculptures by the Sea at
       Bondi on Tuesday 3rd November – 9.09am North Shore train;
       Subsequent trek is on Tuesday 17th November
   o Social Exercise Group gather each Tuesday in Waitara hall at 7pm –
       enquiries: Catherine Plumb;
   o Sanctuary Choir practices at the Fishers’ residence on Wednesday
       evenings from 7.30pm
   o THURSDAY CLUB meets every Thursday in Waitara hall from
       10am to 12 noon
   o Pastoral Care Hub (Elders) will meet at the Manse on Thursday 12th
       November at 7.30pm;
   o Sarah’s Place Management Committee assemble at Sarah’s Place on
       Tuesday 17th November at 8pm;
   o Leadership Group (Church Council) deliberate at the Laidlaws’
       residence on Thursday 19th November at 7.30pm
   o Property Committee discuss matters at Asquith church on Tuesday
       24th November at 7.30pm
   o Ladies Evening Fellowship end of year Night Out will take place on
       Monday evening 30th November
Out and about…….
       Berowra Church Markets are held at Berowra Uniting Church on
       the first Saturday of each month;
       Pleasant Sunday Afternoon (traditional hymn singing followed by
       afternoon tea) is at Hornsby Baptist Church on Sunday 8th
       November from 2.30pm to 3.40pm. All welcome.
       Opera Night at Rivendell – Sunday 15th November from 6pm –
       featuring renowned indigenous soprano Deborah Cheetham, tenor
       Warren Fisher, mezzo Marie Virginia-Stack, baritone David Greco
       and an impressive 35 piece orchestra. Proceeds to Intensive Care,
       Concord Hospital. Adults $30, enquiries 9767 5256. (Rivendell is
       on historic Thomas Walker Estate – go to the end of Hospital Road,
       Organist, Robert Goode presents a short concert followed by
       morning tea and a chat in the Lindfield (Tryon Road) church on
       Tuesday 17th November at 10am. Donation $5.

Please note your calendars that our worship services on Sundays 13 & 20
December will be held in the Asquith church (at 9.30am). The 13
December service will be a Communion Service combined with the Sau
Faupula congregation.

*** RETREATS REMINDER The Ladies Advent Retreat will be held on Saturday

28 November at Berowra, and the Men’s Retreat on Saturday 5                    December at
Gosford. [Invitation flyers for these events were recently circulated.]
