                           Classic Schooling Show
                        Saturday March 13, 2010
                  CLASSES START AT 9:00 AM SHARP!
  Entry deadline Sunday March 7th at 2 PM – Late entry fee of $10 applies
                             after this date.


You may enter up to 3 classes. Remember, they must be for your level (if you
are unsure of your level please check with your coach or the office).
Please arrive in plenty of time to get your horse ready for your class; a
shiny horse and clean tack will make a great impression on the judge!

Neat turnout of horse and rider means rider’s hair is pulled back either in a
braid or pony tail, with their horse neatly brushed and properly tacked.


1. Specialty Hunter Classic Medal Class- Owned/Leased Horses Only (***see entry f orm)
Equitation Over Fences – there will be 2 judged rounds in order to qualify top riders for the
ride-off (3rd course) for final placing. Riders are expected to arrive by 8:00 a.m. in order to
help set up the course and walk it. The course will be posted to memorize before the class.

2. Tack Up Class Novice l (Level 8-10)
New riders demonstrate their abilities on tacking up their horse. Students will be asked to
demonstrate cleaning the hoof, naming parts of the horse and parts of the bridle. Neat
turnout of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

3. Walk/Trot Equitation Novice I (Level 8&9)
New riders demonstrate their abilities at the walk and trot. Students will be asked to show
posting trot, sitting trot, walking and halting in both directions. Neat turnout of horse and
rider will also be a consideration.

4. Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation Novice I Advanced (Level 10)
Participants will be asked to demonstrate halt, walk and trot in both directions, including both
upward and downward transitions. Sitting, posting (correct diagonal) and two point position
may be requested. Students will be asked to canter the long side of the arena one at a time.
Neat turnout of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

5. Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation Novice ll (Level 11&12)
Participants will be asked to demonstrate halt, walk, and trot, in both directions. Sitting,
posting (correct diagonal) and two point position may be requested. Students will canter the
full ring. Neat turnout of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

6. Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation Novice II Advanced (Level 14)
Participants will be asked to demonstrate halt, walk, and trot in both directions. Sitting,
posting, two point position and no stirrups may be requested at the trot. Students will canter
the full ring. Neat turnout of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

7. Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation Intermediate Advanced (Levels 20 and up)
Participants will be asked to demonstrate halt, walk, trot and canter in both directions with
more advanced transitions (trot to halt, walk to canter etc). Sitting, posting, no stirrups and
two point position may be requested in all gaits. Neat turnout of horse and rider will also
be a consideration.

8. Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation Adults Only (Level 50, 52 & 54)
Participants will be asked to demonstrate halt, walk and trot in both directions. Sitting,
posting, two point position and trotting without stirrups may be requested. Students will be
asked to canter in sitting and in two point position, and may be asked to canter without
stirrups. Neat turnout of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

9. Equitation Own Horse\Lease Horse Only
Participants will be judged on their position and effectiveness. Riders may be asked to work
without stirrups. Neat turnout of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

10. Bareback Equitation (Level 14 & up)
Participants will ride without a saddle and be asked for walk, trot and canter in both
directions. Students will be judged on their balance, position and control.

11. Hunter Hack Novice II Advanced (Level 12)
Participants will be asked to walk, trot and canter in both directions. Two point position will be
requested at the trot. Participants will be asked to trot a line of two small cross rails (up to
12”) individually.

12. Hunter Hack Intermediate I/Intermediate I Advanced (Level 14)
Participants will be asked to walk, trot and canter in both directions. Two point position will be
requested at the trot and canter. Participants will be asked to trot a line of cross rails (up to
1’6”) individually.

13. Hunter Under Saddle Own Horse\Lease Horse Only
Participants will be judged on the horse’s way of going and ride-ability. Riders may be asked
to lengthen and collect all gaits and to ride on a loose rein in the trot position. Neat turnout
of horse and rider will also be a consideration.

14. Speed Bumps Novice I Advanced/Novice II (Levels 10&11)
Participants will trot a pole course. This class will be judged on staying on course, straight
approach, riding into the corners, two point position over each set of poles, and overall
control. The course will be posted for riders to memorize prior to their class. This is a judged
round.

15. Cross Rails Novice II Advanced (Levels 14)
Participants will ride a course of cross rails no higher than 1’, trotting through their corners
and trotting into each line of jumps. The course will be posted for riders to memorize prior to
their class. This is a judged round.

16. Cross Rails Intermediate I/Intermediate I Advanced (Level 20 & 22)
Participants will trot or canter a course of fences no higher than 1’6”. The course will be
posted for riders to memorize prior to their class. This is a judged round.

17. Cross Rails Intermediate II/Intermediate II Advanced (Level 24 & 26)
Participants will canter a course of fences no higher than 1’6”. The course will be posted for
riders to memorize prior to their class. This is a judged round.

18. Cross Rails Own Horse\Lease Horse Only
Participants will canter a course of fences no higher than 2’0. This is a judged round.

19. Costume Class
It’s time to dress up horse and rider in the most creative way you can think of. All levels
welcome!


                         A Note to Parents and Riders
 Most classes are equitation – this means the rider is judged on their abilities,
such as their riding position, following the directions and asking the horse to do
  things correctly. This way, riders who are trying really hard but have a more
           challenging time with their horse are judged on their effort.

knowledge that there is some element of risk that an accident could occur and result in injury or death to the
rider or their mount. I hereby acknowledge that North Shore Equestrian Centre Ltd., and its Directors, Officers
Shareholders and Agents shall not be liable to me for any injury, death or property damage as a result of using
facilities or horses.
