DESCRIPTION: Incumbent will serve as the local Administrator/Coordinator of the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative
(JDAI). As JDAI Coordinator, the incumbent will schedule and facilitate regular meetings of the JDAI collaborative group,
sub-groups and other relevant parties to review issues, review data, identify concerns and propose solutions. Additional duties
include preparing meeting agenda and minutes for distribution to multi-agency stakeholders. Meets, as necessary, with various
parties and stakeholders, such as Judges, Prosecutors, Clerks of Court, Court Service Unit Administrators, Detention
Superintendents, School Administrators and Law Enforcement; works with CSU Administration to review Detention
Assessment Instrument (DAI) performance and utilization of detention alternatives; develops work plans to include short- and
long-term goals. This position is also responsible for assisting with the analysis of detention-related data for use by members of
the JDAI collaborative; gathering and sharing best practice information from other JDAI sites; assisting with the coordination
of technical assistance visits by the Annie E. Casey Foundation staff. This position is approximately 10 hours a week; up to 20
hours a week during start up.
QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable knowledge of the Virginia Juvenile Justice System is needed. Considerable knowledge
and/or experience in administration, program planning, program evaluation and training, including project leadership
functions. The desired candidate should also possess demonstrated ability in meeting management.
Preferred qualifications include related degree with major course work in public administration, sociology, criminology,
criminal justice research and/or equivalent training and/or experience.
