                              ADVERTISED PRINCIPAL POSITION
The Application for Advertised Principal Position form must be used by teachers when applying for an advertised principal position.
Please read the instructions and Promotion and Transfer Procedures for School Teachers 2005 carefully before completing your
application. You should also refer to Merit Selection Procedures 2005. This form should not be used by principals applying for
transfer.

External applicants should also complete this form.

In addressing the selection criteria please refer to work and other experiences, professional development activities and significant
achievements.

The Application for Advertised Principal Position form should be sent to the contact officer identified in the advertisement. Before
sending your application, please make a copy of this form for your records. Any enquiries concerning applications for advertised
positions should be directed to the enquiry officer identified in the advertisement.

Section 6 – General selection criteria for advertised principal positions

Address in the space provided, each of the general selection criteria. The general selection criteria
are not listed in priority order. Information should not exceed the space provided. That is, half an A4
page only may be used to address each general selection criterion.

Applicants for principal position must demonstrate the capacity to provide successful
educational leadership. This must be demonstrated through:

1. Provision of quality education for students and improvement in student outcomes.




2. Effective management and implementation of programs for child protection and student
   welfare.

4. Ability to establish effective decision making and communication procedures within the
   school and the community.

Applicants must demonstrate how they meet the specific selection criteria identified by the selection
panel, as shown in the advertisement. A maximum of two A4 pages is provided to address the
specific selection criteria. Information should not exceed the space provided.

Three referees are to be provided by applicants for advertised principal positions. For applicants in executive staff (other
than principal) and classroom teacher positions, your current principal must be listed as one of your referees. For
applicants in principal positions, your current school education director must be one of your referees. For applicants in non
school based positions, your current school education director (or regional senior manager responsible for the position), or
director must be one of your referees. For external applicants, your current (or most recent) supervisor must be one of your
referees.
