Approving Lease of County Land at University of Wisconsin – Sheboygan Campus for Bookworm Gardens Project
* Printed as amended WHEREAS, Bookworm Gardens, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity dedicated to the establishment and operation in Sheboygan County of a multimillion dollar garden for the benefit of children and families based upon children's literature, and WHEREAS, Bookworm Gardens, Inc., has approached Sheboygan County to obtain permission to locate the garden on County-owned property at the site of the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Campus, and WHEREAS, the Sheboygan County Board believes a partnership with Bookworm Gardens for the establishment of such a project on County-owned land would be beneficial to the Sheboygan County community and would be an opportunity to enhance the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Campus site, and WHEREAS, the Sheboygan County Board has entered into similarly mutually beneficial arrangements with third parties such as the Sheboygan County Historical Society and the Aviation Heritage Center; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Sheboygan County enter into a Lease Agreement or similar arrangement with Bookworm Gardens, Inc., to allow for the location of the Bookworm Gardens project at the University of Wisconsin – Sheboygan Campus. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Administrator * and Corporation Counsel is directed to negotiate a Lease on behalf of Sheboygan County with Bookworm Gardens, Inc., upon such terms and conditions as the Executive Committee and the Property Committee deem to be in the best interests of Sheboygan County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Board Chairperson and the County Clerk are directed and authorized to sign a Lease with Bookworm Gardens, Inc., after the Executive Committee and the Property Committee approve of the Lease terms.
