October 2009 Cub Pack 122 Leaders' Meeting - 10/15/2009 At 7:45pm the meeting was called to order. Attending were Clairellen Catalano-Johnson (Committee Chairperson) Gary Hill (Cubmaster) Tony Selke (Den Leader - Wolf Den 3) Melinda Ford (Den Leader - Tiger Den 1) Frank Schlaha - (Den Leader Webelos I - Den 1) Jay Wilmer - (Den Leader Wolf - Den 2) Ed McIntosh - (Den Leader Tiger - Den 2) Linda Thorbahn - (Den Leader Wolf - Den 1) Karrie Van Cleve - (Den Leader Webelos I - Den 3) George Binns - (Troop 21) Michael Catalano-Johnson (Treasurer), acting as Secretary Call For Volunteers Clairellen announces that we are still in need of volunteers for various positions including Secretary, and Blue & Gold Banquet committee. Training Ed McIntosh, Jay Wilmer and Melinda Ford need to complete Cub Scout Leader Specific Training. Upcoming opportunities on the council calendar include the dates Oct. 31, Nov. 7, and Nov 14. Upcoming Events Malvern Halloween Parade - Coming up on October 25th. Parade starts at 4pm. Line-up starts at 3:30pm. We decided that leaders will poll their dens and get a headcount by Monday night, October 19th. If there is sufficient interest, we will organize a group to march together. It was not decided whether we would march in uniform or in costume. Camping - Michael gave a report on the program the camping committee was planning. Gary repeated his request that den leaders look over their books and decide what achievements their dens would like to work on while at camp. Linda suggested the creation of a 'K-per chart' to assign duties to each of the dens. Michael agreed to make this. Gary secured a commitment from George to lend us the tug-of-war rope. November pack meeting - We plan to have a large bobcat ceremony at the November pack meeting including new tiger dens and some older scouts. We will have 3 stations at which the scouts will make cards, ornaments and breakfast bags. We will recognize those scouts earning achievements at fall camping. It is decided that we will postpone the first aid presentations to a pack meeting in the spring. Scouting for Food - Council decided not to distribute bags this year but rather mailbox/doorknob hangers. Distribution of hangers will occur on November 14th, pickup on November 21st. Leaders will email Karrie with numbers of hangers they will need for their dens. Karrie will pick up hangers and distribute at the Camping trip to den leaders or their designated representatives. Here is how leaders present are dividing up neighborhoods: Jay Wilmer - Nottingham, Windsor, Airport Rd, Greenhill, Wooded Way. Frank Schlaha - Stewart Tony Selke - Mill Valley, Charter Chase neighborhoods Karrie Van Cleve - Bow Tree, Meadow Development, Upton Circle, Jackson Lane, Garrett Lane, Patterson Lane, Rennard, Wineberrie, Raywyck, Highland Ave, Taylor, Vance, Jefferson, Madison, Alcott Circle, Attlee, Dickens Dr, Hadleigh Dr. Melinda Ford - Vista, Linda Vista, Monte Vista Ed McIntosh - Colonial Lane, Cornwallis, Wentworth. Linda Thorbahn - Brookmont, Treemont, Indian Hills to the end of Warrior, and Rossmore if no one else wants it. Battleship NJ Sleepover Patty S. says she needs money and forms by Nov 18th in order to secure reservations. We need to have popcorn wrapped up by then so that we can determine which scouts have qualified for free admission. Frank will be home next week on Tuesday (20th) and Thursday (22nd) to finalize popcorn, collecting all money, forms, prize requests etc. Remember - Hayride on October 21st - Wagons leave promptly at 6pm!
