Reporting Officer – David Rowe FILE: G.02.06.00

PURPOSE OF REPORT

To consider whether Council wishes to nominate for representation

REPORT

The NSW Government is establishing six ‘wind precincts’ across NSW. Yass Valley is
included in the NSW/ACT Border Region.

Closing date for nominations is the 20 November 2009.

The Terms of Reference (Attachment A) outlines the purpose and role of the
committee.

The Committee will comprise up to 10 members with up to 4 representatives from
Local Councils within the precinct.

Meetings will be held 3 monthly or as otherwise agreed by the Committee.

Remuneration for non-government members will be determined by the Department of
Premier and Cabinet.

Given that Wind Generation Sites have been identified and are proposed in Yass Valley
it may well be worthwhile having a representative on the committee.

A Councillor or member of the Planning and Environmental Services Division of
Council could be nominated.
