									     Latest Drought Monitoring and Prediction in China –January 25, 2010

     The results of the current drought conditions and the trends in the next
week were summarized as follows:
     From January 19 to 25, 2010, the precipitation was more than 10 mm in the
part of eastern Yunnan, southern Guizhou, Guangxi, most of Guangdong,
southern Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Anhui and southern Zhejiang, while there was
less than 10 mm or no precipitation in most China. According to the latest
drought monitoring, there were moderate to severe meteorological droughts in
most Yunnan, southern Sichuan. And moderate meteorological droughts
occurred in part of northern Sichuan and southern Gansu.
     In the next week, there is obvious precipitation in eastern Xizang, southern
Yunnan, northweatern Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong,
Hainan, Taiwan, Hunan, Hubei. The droughts in southwestern Guizhou, western
Guangxi and southern Yunnan would be alleviated.
