To reach Silver Arrow Canoe Rental from St. Louis, take I-44 West. Turn East on U.S. 68 at St. James (Exit 195) to Salem, then U.S. 19 South of Salem for 17 miles to Silver Arrow. It's 3 hours from Wolf Branch School. The Current River is an easy to medium river. It is classified as a Class I, occasionally Class II River. Average gradient is 4.4 feet per mile. Comfortable canoeing speed is 2 1/2 miles an hour. Upper water temperature on the Current ranges from 58° to 65° during the summer.
