                                 Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen V

thirteen episodes • twenty-six dishes • countless stories

Nick Stellino celebrates his 10th year of cooking exclusively on public television with an all-new season of
classic Italian recipes and even his favorite American meal, a prime rib dinner, in Nick Stellino’s Family
Kitchen V. In this new series of 13 half-hour programs, Nick welcomes the viewer into his studio kitchen
for a personal, step-by-step cooking lesson as he passionately shares his culinary expertise and cooking
techniques. The dishes may taste as though they’ve been simmering all day, but Nick takes one of
America’s most popular ethnic cuisines and makes it easy, quick and fun for viewers to prepare at home.
“This season,” says Nick, “we’ll show you how to turn your home into your favorite restaurant!”

From Pot Roast with Marsala, Fillet of Sole with Piccata Sauce and Chicken Scaloppine to classic Choco-
late Zabaglione, Stellino shares the sights, smells and memories of his native Italy and shows viewers how
to bring the celebration to their own tables every night. Buon appetito!

Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen V premieres on public television stations in January 2006. (Please check
local listings.) The series is a co-production of KCTS/Seattle Public Television and Stellino Productions
and is distributed by American Public Television (APT).

In Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen V, Nick introduces home cooks to more than two dozen recipes for
delicious meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable dishes, and tempting desserts. The dishes are elegant yet
quickly prepared, using affordable ingredients available at most supermarkets.

In each program, Nick demonstrates two to three recipes in their entirety, step by step. He also shares
useful tips for preparation and presentation.

In the opening episode, Nick prepares Pork Roast with Gorgonzola Sauce, along with Brandied Apples.
Subsequent episodes feature recipes for a wide range of dishes, including New York Steak with Balsamic
Vinegar Sauce, Braised Baby Bok Choy, Sicilian Salad with Sautéed Shrimp, Pasta with Pine Nuts, Raisins
and Tomatoes, Banana Chocolate Tart, and Steamed Green Beans with Garlic and Tomatoes.

THE NICK STELLINO’S FAMILY KITCHEN PARTNERSHIP

In teaming up for Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen V, Nick Stellino and KCTS are continuing a successful
relationship that began in 1994, when Stellino came to the Seattle public television station to tape the
first season of the Mediterranean cooking and dining series Cucina Amore. Within a year of its 1995
debut, Cucina Amore became one of the most popular food programs on U. S. television, and it ultimately
was ranked as public television’s number-one “how-to” series (Nielsen, January 1998). In 1999, Stellino

hosted the PBS special Nick Stellino’s Dinner Party, a lively culinary tour of three American cities
produced by KCTS in association with Lark International.

The launch in September 2000 of the first Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen series was followed in March
2001 by the premiere of Nick Stellino: Food, Love & Family. In this PBS special produced by KCTS in
association with Stellino Productions and Lark International, Nick celebrated the universal connection
between food and family, sharing favorite recipes and family memories with an enthusiastic studio
audience. Building on the success of the first Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen series, Nick Stellino’s Fam-
ily Kitchen II premiered on public television stations in September 2001, followed by Nick Stellino’s
Family Kitchen III in January 2003 and Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen IV in January 2004.

NICK STELLINO, SERIES HOST, WRITER AND CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Nick Stellino grew up in Palermo, on the island of Sicily, and came to the United States in 1975.
In 1991, he decided to leave his lucrative career as a Wall Street stockbroker in order to follow his
dream of becoming a chef. He started his culinary career as a dishwasher. Over time, he apprenticed
with the best Italian chefs in America, including Celestine Drago at Drago, rated by Food & Wine
magazine as one of the 10 best restaurants in the country. “I was in heaven working at Drago,”
says Nick. “But I wanted to share my enthusiasm for Italian cooking with more people. I decided
a cooking show was the answer.” Employing the energy, dedication and entrepreneurial vision that
had taken him from Palermo to Wall Street, Nick began calling television production companies.
His efforts culminated in the highly successful series Cucina Amore I, II and III and Nick Stellino’s
Family Kitchen I, II, III, IV and V, and the PBS specials Nick Stellino’s Dinner Party and Nick
 Stellino: Food, Love & Family.

Nick is the author of seven cookbooks—Cucina Amore; Nick Stellino’s Glorious Italian Cooking; Nick
Stellino’s Mediterranean Flavors; Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen; Nick Stellino’s Passione: Pasta, Pizza, and
Panini; Mangiamo! Let’s Eat!, the companion to Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen IV; and Dine In!, the
companion to Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen V.

Nick makes numerous appearances at popular food festivals around the United States, including
Boston Cooks, Philadelphia’s The Book and The Cook, Seattle’s Festa Italiana and the Aspen Food &
Wine Festival. He was Grand Marshal of San Francisco’s 1999 Columbus Day Parade, the first time
in 130 years that a chef had been accorded that honor. In May 2000 and 2001, Nick appeared as a
presenter at the prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards held in New York. He also is one of the
few chefs who have been selected to cook at the Grand Gala Dinner for the James Beard Awards for
 three years in a row.

Nick is a sought-after motivational speaker with a prestigious list of national clients, including Sears,
Marriott Hotels & Resorts, IBM, BJ’s Wholesale Club and The Kimpton Hotels.

Nick has been a guest on numerous national shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, Today,
CBS This Morning and Good Morning America. He has been featured in national publications
including TV Guide, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Magazine of La Cucina Italiana,
Bon Appétit, In Sync, Home Magazine, Watchtime and Primo.

Nick lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Nanci.
