CMA Ontario offers an accelerated program that is designed to assist candidates in:
     • qualifying more quickly for the CMA Entrance Examination; and
     • reviewing the exam syllabus in preparation for writing the CMA Entrance Examination.

The Accelerated Program and Entrance Examination are offered twice each year, enabling candidates
to proceed more quickly to the CMA Strategic Leadership Program:
        1. Accelerated Program starting in September (leading to the June Entrance Examination)
        2. Accelerated Program starting in January (leading to the October Entrance Examination)

Features

The Accelerated Program enables eligible candidates to cover the following CMA Prerequisite Studies
topics in one intensive seven-month program:
         • Intermediate Management Accounting • Information Technology
         • Advanced Management Accounting • Strategic Management
         • Intermediate Financial Accounting • International Business
         • Advanced Financial Accounting • Marketing
         • Corporate Finance • Taxation
         • Operations Management • Commercial Law

The topics are covered in 22 lessons plus 4 tests over a seven-month period. The program is available
by full-day Saturday lectures in selected centres and by correspondence. Candidate evaluation is based
on two 3-hour tests worth 20 marks each and two 4-hour tests worth 30 marks each. The total pass
mark is 60%.

After enrolling, candidates are provided with access to an interactive web-based learning environment.
This website contains detailed lesson notes, reinforcement problems with solutions, and related
materials. Correspondence students also receive DVDs of the lecture sessions and can pose specific
questions on the material to an instructor via e-mail.

The lesson notes and related reinforcement problems and solutions have been designed to assist
candidates in managing their own time in order to develop a good understanding of the topics. It is
recommended that candidates allow for 10 - 15 hours of study time, on average, per week, in addition
to the in-class or DVD viewing time.

The 2005-06 program fee of $2,243 plus GST includes instruction, marking and course materials.
Website access will be granted, when available, after receipt of your application form and full payment.

                       CMA ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
To be eligible for the CMA Strategic Leadership Program, candidates must successfully complete the
CMA Entrance Examination. This national examination is a comprehensive and integrative test of the
accounting and management knowledge gained through university-level studies. This knowledge
serves as a foundation for the advanced concepts and practices covered in the Strategic Leadership
Program.
The examination syllabus is divided into two broad categories that are tested in the following
proportions:
        Management Studies – 67%
Includes Management Accounting, Corporate Finance, Operations Management, Information
Technology, Strategic Management, International Business, Human Resources and Marketing
        General Accounting Studies – 33%
Includes Financial Accounting, Taxation and Internal Control
The examination consists of two parts, each four hours in length. Part 1, written on the Tuesday from
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is a multiple-choice exam that challenges the candidate’s knowledge,
comprehension and application of all Prerequisite Studies topics.
At the conclusion of Part 1, candidates are given an organizational ‘backgrounder’ on the enterprise
that is the subject of Part 2 of the examination. Part 2, written on the Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to
5:00 p.m., is a complex business case based on the organization described in the background material.
The objective of Part 2 is to evaluate the candidate’s higher-level skills of judgement, analysis,
evaluation, integration and communication.
The pass mark for each part is 60% and both parts must be successfully completed to be eligible for the
CMA Strategic Leadership Program.
Further information about the examination syllabus and structure is provided in the Entrance
Examination Study Guide and at www.cma-ontario.org

June 2006 examination. Similarly, successful Winter 2006 Accelerated Program candidates will be
required to write the October 2006 examination. The June 2006 Entrance Examination is scheduled to
take place on June 20 and 22, 2006, while the October 2006 Exam is scheduled for October 17 and 19,
