Birthday Party Packages
Garden Exploration or Geology Adventure themes. Recommended for children ages 5-12. The pre-registered parties are 2 hours long and are available weekdays 10am12pm or 3-5pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm or 2-4pm. Cost: Up to 10 children $150 ($125 for members); maximum of 15 children at an extra $12 per child ($10 for members). Adults are free. Please have one adult for every 5 children. Deposits, payment, refunds and cancellations: A non-refundable $50 deposit is due along with the rental fee for the projected number of children upon reservation. Refunds and Cancellations will be granted up to 7 days prior to the event, less the non-refundable deposit. There are no refunds for cancellations during the week of the party. Parties include: use of the Carriage House or Nature Learning Center for 2 hours, staff assistance, your choice of a geology museum tour & scavenger hunt or a garden exploration discovery walk; and a gift for the birthday child. Party givers provide: all food and drink, plates, cups, utensils. Any decorations requiring mounting to the wall or ceiling must be approved. Food: Clemson Catering is the exclusive caterer for Clemson University. Please call 864-656-2058 for menus, cake and Clemson ice cream. Party favor Goodie Bags to match the party theme are available for purchase from the Garden and Geology Museum Gift Shops. The South Carolina Botanical Garden
is foremost an educational institution and considered a valuable natural resource in the community. Many events are enhanced by its unique features and natural beauty. The following guidelines are designed to protect the beauty and integrity of the garden. The SCBG adheres to Clemson University guidelines for major events and reserves the right, on an individual basis, to refuse rental events deemed inappropriate. Clemson Catering is the exclusive caterer for Clemson University. Events requiring catering service will need to contact Clemson Catering at 864-656-2058.

The SCBG rents only to its Friends of the Garden members and to University affiliates. Membership starts at $35 per year and is tax deductible. Additional benefits follow throughout the year.

Outdoor Areas
The following areas may be reserved for four hour blocks during daylight hours only. Fees vary by location. Additional time may be scheduled as available for $100 per hour. Rehearsals may be scheduled for Outdoor & Indoor facilities as available for $100 per hour.
Indoor Facilities
Campbell Geology Museum (up to 75)
Businesses and organizations enjoy receptions amongst the exhibitry of the museum and gathering outside in the Sutherland Garden. Fee: $500 Nightly 5-9pm; $400 Mon. &T ues. 9am - 5pm.
Deposits
Reservations may be made up to one year in advance. All fees, the matching deposit and Friends Membership are required to be paid up front in full to confirm all reservations. Tentative dates may be held for up to 5 days. Refundable deposits are processed at the end of each month.
Butterfly Garden (up to 50)
An informal spot for a smaller gathering among butterfly attracting perennials. Best color June - October. Fee: $500
Carriage House Cafe (up to 25)
Cadet Life Garden (up to 100)
Mixers and standing reception events will enjoy being surrounded by a bit of Clemson University history, stacked stone pillars & flowering vines. Fee: $500.
The Betsy Campbell Carriage House Cafe has a large room inside with an ajoining patio. It can accommodate up to 24 seated inside and 12 on the patio. It is a great gathering place for birthday parties, business luncheons or a staging area for caterers for larger events held on the lawns. Fee: $100 per hour; $250 for overnight storage (5pm-9am). Lower lawn not included.
Photo Shoots
The Garden is a busy place! Photographers bringing brides or families to the Garden for organized sittings must schedule an appointment. A fee of $100 applies if the wedding event is not being held in the Garden. This fee is waived if Photographers are Corporate Friends of the Garden at a $250 tax deductible donation per year. Marketing opportunities are available for photographers for our web site and in print advertising with name recognition. Larger photo shoots for magazines and print advertising campaigns must be scheduled through the SCBG Public Relations office at 864-656-6205.
Fran Hanson Discovery Center Lawns
Fran Hanson Discovery Center
(up to 400) This elegant location is surrounded by formal lawns and perennial flower beds, stacked stone walls with a backdrop of the former Southern Living Showcase home is lovely for larger gatherings. Fees for 4pm - 10pm: Either lawn $900, Both lawns $1,650. Earlier set-up beyond these hours is at the hourly rate above.
Garden Amphitheater (up to 400)
Stacked stone walls, stage and ample seating surrounded by trees provides a woodland atmosphere for lectures, performances, or wedding ceremonies with built-in seating for guests. Fee: $750.
(up to 100) Beautiful views over the meadows and artwork in each room provide the perfect setting for any indoor occasion - business meetings and luncheons, receptions, fund raisers or weddings. T ables and chairs are available for groups up to 50 at an additional charge. Rental period is from 4pm - 11pm. Hourly rates apply to time required for set up beyond this period. Fees: 1st floor & terrace only $1,000; 1st floor, terrace & either lawn $1,800; 1st floor, terrace & both lawns $2,600; Both floors & terrace only $1,500; Both floors, terrace & either lawn $2,300; Both floors, terrace & both lawns $3,000. Includes a 30-minute walk-thru/processional for wedding parties on the 1st floor. Additional dressing area space available for 2 hours at $250. Belongings must be removed by 7pm.
Event Management, Security & Liability
Garden staff is present during events to assure that your site is in the best condition possible and that the integrity of the Garden is upheld during your event. Wedding coordination services are to be handled by hired professionals and is not offered by the Garden staff. A wedding coordinator may need to be hired depending on the scope of the event at the discretion of the Garden Rental Manager. Additional security is required for groups of 100 or more with alcohol is being served and for 200 or more without alcohol by the Clemson University Police Department at the rate of $40 per hour, per officer to assure the safety of your guests. Liability insurance is required for all renters of the Garden.
Hayden Lecture Area (up to 75)
A peaceful setting for a garden lecture or small reception under a pine tree canopy. Located conveniently near the display gardens and duck pond. Fee: $500.
Hayden Conference Center (up to 100)
Hortitheraphy Garden (up to 40)
This lovely manicurred setting overlooks the duck pond with a gazebo and sitting area for simple ceremonies or small gatherings. Fee: $500.
T large rooms, a catering kitchen and restrooms may be wo set-up to accommodate a variety of functions. Business meetings, classrooms, lectures, or receptions. Outdoor garden areas adjacent to the facility are included. Fees are based on four hour time blocks between 8am and 9pm. Fees: $250 per room or $500 for both rooms.
Hosta Garden (up to 40)
Approved Vendors
Any vendor providing service to Garden Rental clients must be an Approved Garden Vendor. In addition to the Vendor Contract, License and Certificate of Liability Insurance, event layout and menu is required from caterers and event planners. When alcohol is being served outside caterers must have liquor license and liquor liability insurance.
University Rates
Clemson University departments benefit from utilizing Garden facilities by saving fifty percent off the stated rates. Individual CU faculty and staff are not eligible for discounts for personal events.
This intimate setting among the lush hostas and waterfalls allows for simple ceremonies with chairs only. Fee: $500.
Xeriscape Garden (up to 75)
A white gazebo in the midst of colorful summer to fall blooming plants with a lush green lawn. Is also perfect for a small ceremony & reception for groups up to 50. Fee: $750.
