Over the next 18 months, in response to the ACT Affordable Housing Action Plan Phase 2,
Housing ACT will be building a significant number of new homes at 8 prime locations around
Canberra including Conder, Macquarie, Curtin, Kambah, Bonython, Chapman, Florey and
Rivett.
Each property will be constructed for older public housing tenants in a tranquil, village-like
setting, creating a secure, independent and social atmosphere.

Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for one of these these new properties if you are a Housing ACT tenant
aged 65 years and over, or an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tenant aged 50 years and
over; and if your current home is larger than you require.

Helping others
The demand for public housing in Canberra is very strong. Many disadvantaged families
remain on the waiting list because of the shortage of 3–4-bedroom properties.
We know that many of our older tenants are living in family homes and may now prefer a smaller,
more manageable property.
By moving into a new 2-bedroom home in the neighbourhood you know, you will be helping
Housing ACT to free up larger properties to house more families more quickly.
