John goes to the video store and approaches the leftmost rental system in the store. 2. Laura goes to the video store and approaches the rightmost rental system in the store. 3. John selects Browse New Release from the main menu. 4. John selects Comedy from the New Release menu. 5. John selects American Pie from the Comedy menu. 6. John sees the picture of American Pie and reads the corresponding movie description (i.e. Rated: R, Starring: Billy Smith, Status: New Release, Length: 134 minutes and Description: Four high school friends make a pact to have girlfriends before their senior prom.) 7. John decides that he wants to rent American Pie and selects Rent Video. 8. John retrieves the printout for this movie which includes the movie title (American Pie) and video UPC (11111). 9. At the same time, Laura chooses Select a Video from the main menu. 10. Laura types in American Pie using the keyboard located on the screen and then presses Submit. 11. Laura sees the picture of American Pue and reads the corresponding movie description (i.e. Rated: R, Starring: Billy Smith, Status: New Release, Length: 134 minutes and Description: Four high school friends make a pact to have girlfriends before their senior prom.) 12. Laura confirms that she wants to rent American Pie by selecting Rent Video. 13. Laura retrieves the printout for this movie which includes the movie title (American Pie) and video UPC (11110). 14. John proceeds to the counter where he hands the printout to Mary. 15. Mary takes the printout from John and asks him for his membership card. 16. Mary selects Rent Video from her terminal’s main menu. 17. Mary scans John’s membership card and retrieves John’s membership info (i.e. Name: John Smith, Address: 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA, Phone Number: 554-4000). 18. Mary scans the UPC of the video off of the printout John handed her. 19. Mary retrieves the video from its location on the shelf. 20. Mary informs John of how much he owes, $3.25, and tells him that the video is due back in five days. 21. John gives Mary $20.00. 22. Mary enters $20.00 into the POST, which calculates the change and opens the cash drawer. 23. Mary gives John the change and closes the cash drawer.
24. Mary takes the video and walks past the security posts and hands the video to John. 25. John takes the video from Mary and leaves the video store. 26. Joann scans the UPC of the video off of the printout Laura handed her. 31. Joann retrieves the video from its location on the shelf. 32. Joann informs Laura of how much he owes, $3.25, and tells her that the video is due back in five days. 33. Laura gives Joann $20.00. 34.
