					                Readiness Assessment Tool for Midwifery

This project is tasked with the design, development, pilot and
evaluation of an on-line "Readiness Assessment Tool" 1 model for
Midwives. This work fills a gap in the National Assessment Strategy for
International Midwives, and will be accessed through the public page
of the IEHP Atlantic Connection web page. The tool can be modified for
use with other health professions.

The Midwifery Readiness Self- Assessment Tool is an on-line self-
assessment tool that provides potential applicants with an idea of
whether they are likely to meet requirements for Midwifery in Canada.
Self-assessment against employer-identified core skills and technical
competencies will enable potential applicants to make informed career
decisions. Applicants provide basic information regarding the country
of education and type of qualification as well as number of years of
practice. The program then provides an individualized response
explaining the process that the applicants will need to follow to gain
recognition of their credential.
The project will also make the "Readiness Assessment Tool"
accessible to Internationally Educated and Trained Midwives Pre- and
Post- entry to Atlantic Canada with a follow up evaluation.

This two year project is administered through the Nova Scotia
