To Approving Manager:
I would like to attend the 2010 Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners/Nurse Midwives
Regional Conference. The 22nd conference is being held April 21-24, 2010 at the Northern
Kentucky Convention Center. It is the premier opportunity for Nurse Practitioners/Nurse
Midwives to enhance our professional skills. This letter is to request your approval to attend
the KCNPNM Conference.
As you know, I must renew my license every year and my advanced practice certification
every 5 years. These renewals require continuing education contact and pharmacology
hours. The conference is a perfect way for me to obtain these mandatory hours and do it in
a setting most beneficial to our practice. The 2010 conference will enable me to attend a host
of seminars that are directly applicable to my practice and allow me to network with
practicing experts. It is one of the most efficient ways to keep up with the newest medical
information. Many of the presentations give valuable information on the latest treatment
trends as well as ways to reduce cost, increase productivity and get the most value from our
There are a number of presentations I would attend that would give additional knowledge in
pharmacology, issues related to children and adolescent, the pregnant patient and those
with psychiatric issues. This new-found knowledge could immediately be put into practice.
The hallmarks of the conference I would find most valuable include:
Sessions specifically designed for the new graduate/experienced NP/Midwife.
Update on Practice Skills
Opportunity to ask questions of experts and peers
Obtain required CEU’s
Speaker expertise into clinical, political and social issues that affect our profession
Develop a network for consultation
The opportunity for me to develop better contacts within the Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwife
arena and to gain knowledge in specific areas makes my attendance at this conference a
wise investment, which will yield rich dividends for our practice overall. I cannot achieve this
by taking courses online, or afford not to stay up-to-date. If you have any questions
concerning the conference or the costs involved, please contact me at e-mail or phone
Thank you in advance for your acknowledgement of the value of attending the 2010
KCNPNM Regional Conference.
