Wabash Valley Art Guild Presents its
32nd Annual Spring Art Show
Friday, May 8th to Sunday, May 10th, 2009 at Honey Creek Mall in Terre Haute, Indiana
The non-refundable entry fee of $20 for members and $30 for non-members covers the submission of three
original works completed by the same individual. WVAG members should have their dues paid by April 9th in
order to enter at the member rate. You may send the $20 membership dues to WVAG, PO Box 3958, Terre Haute,
IN 47803. Entry forms sent through the mail must be postmarked by April 23, 2009. Anyone with questions

Requirements & Eligibility
All visual artists 18 years of age or older are invited to participate. All artwork must be original and have been
completed within the last three years and never before shown in a WVAG Spring Show. Artwork
produced with the assistance of an instructor is not eligible. Paintings (oil, acrylic, etc.) must be dry and suitably
framed and ready to hang with wire on the back. Other two-dimensional artworks must be suitably framed, covered
with glass or Plexiglass, and ready to hang with wire on the back. Tables for three-dimensional artwork will be
provided by the Honey Creek Mall. The WVAG exhibit committee reserves the right to reject any
artwork deemed objectionable or displayed in an unsuitable manner.
Although reasonable care will be taken, neither the WVAG nor Honey Creek Mall will be responsible for injuries to
participants or the loss or damage to artwork or displays during the show.
Cash awards will be given for Best of Show, People’s Choice, Artist’s Choice, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each of the
following categories: Three-dimensional, Painting/ Oil & Acrylic, Painting/ Watercolor, Drawing/ Mixed Media(pen&ink,
sketches, charcoal, pastels, collage, and etc.), and Photography. Also there will be 6 Honorable Mentions given out
as the judge’s choice. The Honorable Mentions will not receive a cash award.
Judging will take place Friday May 8, before the reception. Awards will be presented Friday May 8, at 6:30pm EST.
Our Juror will be Petra Nyendick. Petra is originally from Toronto where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts
Degree with Honors from York University. She currently resides in Terre Haute where she is the Director and Owner
of Halcyon Contemporary Art Gallery. She has had numerous solo and group shows in Canada and the Midwest. Her
paintings can be found in the permanent collection at Indiana State University and Rose Hulman Institute of
Technology. In the Wabash Valley Petra has juried shows at Saint Mary of the Woods, Arts Illiana, Paris Art Center,
and the Turman Gallery. When living in Canada she juried shows at the Acadia Gallery, Ralph Thornton Centre,
Polson Pier Gallery, and The Columbus Centre.
Set-Up and Take Down
The exhibit committee will be in the show venue to receive entries Wednesday May 6, 2pm - 7pm EST. No
entries will be accepted on Thursday or Friday. Please check in at the reception table before setting up.
Participants will be responsible for removal of all their artwork and equipment from the shopping center. Everything
must be removed by 6:00 pm. EST., but not before 4 pm. EST. on Sunday, May 10.
Selling will be allowed during the exhibit. If a piece is sold the Buyer may take the artwork with them unless it is a
prize winning piece, or if it is before the judging as been completed. The artist of the piece sold may bring another
piece in to replace the sold item. If the artist does not bring in another piece then a piece from another artist will be
selected. Business cards and promotional materials may be displayed after the judging has been completed. You will
be responsible for negotiating the sale with your customer. Boxes and packing materials must be removed from sight.
Please make the personal commitment to present your artwork on stable, attractive, well maintained displays.
We will need people to help co-host the show for at least one two - hour shift during the event. This insures the safety
of all artists’ work; if you are unable to do this you must notify a member of the exhibit committee or the WVAG

Honey Creek Mall is open from 10:00 am to 9:00pm EST Friday and Saturday, 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm EST on Sunday.

By signing this prospectus, the exhibitor agrees to abide by the rules of the WVAG Spring Show and shall hold
the WVAG and Honey Creek Mall harmless in the event of any loss or damage. The WVAG exhibit committee

This year we will be having a Small Works of Art Sale. We are looking for Artist who would like to donate 1-2 small
pieces (11x14 or smaller) that could be sold for $25 or less. You will be able to drop it off with your artwork for the show.
