"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TASTE SA TO EXHIBIT PRODUCE AND"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TASTE SA TO EXHIBIT PRODUCE AND WINE FROM HILLS AND FLEURIEU Premium quality produce, beverages and wine will be offered to thousands of visitors attending the 2009 Meadows Country Fair this year. Taste SA is a major feature of the Royal Adelaide Show offering South Australian food and beverage businesses the opportunity to showcase their products. And for the first time away from the Show, Taste SA will present exclusive produce, wine and beverages from the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula at the Fair. Meadows Country Fair will dedicate a precinct to the Taste SA exhibit enabling local food and wine producers to set up a marquee or stall so they can display their goods, offer tastings and sell to thousands of visitors on the day. The Meadows Country Fair will take place on October 18 between 9am and 4.30pm. The event would not be possible without the support of hundreds of volunteers from around the Meadows community and key sponsors Farmers Union and the District Council of Mount Barker. “This is the first time the South Australian Food Centre is supporting and promoting Taste SA away from its home at the Royal Adelaide Show,” said event organiser Kathryn Bothe. “The Meadows Country Fair will provide visitors with a dedicated courtyard setup that will incorporate tastings, live entertainment and seating.” “It will certainly be a focal point of this year’s fair.” To ensure consistency with the Royal Adelaide Show, signage will be provided for all Taste SA exhibitors by the South Australian Food Centre. Organisers are predicting a record crowd of up to 10,000 people will attend this year’s Meadows Country Fair as the vibrant Adelaide Hills community celebrates its 150th year. Preparations are underway for a bumper day which includes the iconic Udder Tug* hand milking competitions. The Meadows Country Fair incorporates the Battunga Field Day and last year the organising committee introduced food tasting, the Meadows Yard Dog Trials and an animal expo. Each of these events will return in 2009. The Meadows Country Fair is in its 27th year and is built around providing a country themed day which showcases healthy country lifestyle, the environment, tourism and farming of the area.
