Supplemental Information:

Bug fixes have been implemented on HQ development platform and verified to work. Patches
will be installed via script. Patched code will reside in /awips/adapt/avnfps/<ver>/sitepy
directory.

Sites that upgrade from OB7.1 to OB7.2 will need to re-apply this patch to fix problems labeled
#1 and #2 in the Purpose field of this ATAN.

I. ATAN Pre-Installation Steps
This part of the installation instructions must be completed prior to executing the install/uninstall
procedures included in sections II and III.
A. Download ATAN 861 tar file from NOAA1 Server.

Perform the following steps to complete the download.

1. As the user root, log on to dx1 from any linux workstation.

2. Create the directory for this ATAN:

     mkdir /data/local/AvnFPS_ATAN_861

3. Change to the ATAN directory:

     cd /data/local/AvnFPS_ATAN_861

4. Obtain the tar file ATAN_845.tar from the NOAA1 server, using the following commands:

     sftp ftpawips@165.92.25.137

Enter the password when prompted. If prompted for the authenticity of the host (RSA key),
choose “yes” to continue connecting. Once logged in, switch to the pub subdirectory and
copy the file to your local AWIPS machine as follows:

     cd pub

     get ATAN861.tgz

     bye

B. Untar ATAN File

Please verify that the file was successfully downloaded from NOAA1 Server by running the
following command:

/usr/bin/md5sum /data/local/AvnFPS_ATAN_861/ATAN861.tgz

The resulting hash value should be:

a8a7750c2bfd88c9b860031e41824e0a

Untar the contents of the ATAN_845 tar file using the command:

tar zxf ATAN861.tgz

The patch consists of two files, the install/deinstall python script and the tar file consisting of
patched code:
       o ATAN861.py
       o ATAN861.tar

ATAN 01/16/04
II. ATAN Install Steps
The python script installs the patched python files to the site’s /sitepy directory. The AvnFPS
Data Request Server will be restarted for changes to take effect. It is not required that forecasters
exit the AvnFPS Monitoring GUI, however, it is recommended that they restart the monitoring
GUI.

    1. As user fxa, log on to px2f machine from any linux workstation.

    2. Change to the AvnFPS ATAN directory:

        cd /data/local/AvnFPS_ATAN_861

    3. Run the install script.

        ./ATAN861.py

    4. Log off px2f.

III. ATAN Uninstall Steps
The python script will remove patched python files from the site’s /sitepy directory. The
AvnFPS Data Request Server will be restarted for changes to take effect. It is not required that
forecasters exit the AvnFPS Monitoring GUI, however, it is recommended that they restart the
monitoring GUI.

        1. As the user fxa, log on to px2f machine from any linux workstation.

        2. Change to the AvnFPS ATAN directory:

                cd /data/local/AvnFPS_ATAN_861

        3. Run the ATAN script with one of the uninstall flags (-d|-u|--disinstall|--uninstall)

                ./ATAN861.py -d

        4. Log off px2f.
