(RRFF) Code Route ID (R/T) Project Name (Thousands) (Thousands) (Y/N) Project Description
This project proposes replacing an existing
CMPA that has been identified as an
aquatic passage barrier (undersized and
perched outlet) This barrier restricts
upstream passage of a genetically pure
population of Westslope Cutthroat trout.
Removal of the barrier will provide access to
approx. 1.5 miles of high quality WCT
habitat. USFWS has committed grant
monies through FY09 based on a 1:1 match
up to $30K for this project. The
reimbursable agreement with USFWS is in
effect and NEPA has been completed. The
project is being submitted for CMLG funding
rather than HTAP funding because it is on a
M.L. 2 road which does not meet HTAP

Stony Creek is a tributary to Rock Creek
which is identified by the USFWS as a core
area for bull trout recovery. The existing
trail crosses Stony Creek or its tributaries
four times within a 1.8 mile section. This
project will replace three existing corduroy
foot crossings with native log foot bridges

Storm Lake Creek is a part of the Warm
Springs Creek Local Population of bull trout
in the Upper Clark Fork Recovery Sub-unit
as defined by the USFWS. Storm Lake
Creek is also included in the 2006 303d list
with the probable source of impairment
identified as forest roads. This project will
address critical road surface
drainage/sediment delivery problems and
place a hardened road surface (BST) on
approx. 1.5 miles of existing road that is

Perform storm proofing work on 40 miles of
mostly native surfaced, stream adjacent
roads. Work will consist of building
permanent drainage features into the
subgrade, primarily rolling dips; armoring
culvert lead-in ditches and applying spot
aggregate surfacing in critical areas such as
stream crossings and steep grades. There
are 2 small culverts in fish bearing streams
108, 377, to be replaced, and several failures to be
1445 , repaired. This work will decrease
1423, sedimentation to streams from adjacent
4720 , roads. This work will also improve safety
4720B, along these roads esp where fill failures are
4739, to be fixed. Streams include Waa'lamnime

Contract Modification - Funds Obligated. This
project will replace an existing 9' 6" x 6' 5" SPPA
with a 24' 0" x 8' 6" Bottomless Struct Plate Arch,
3 which would improve aquatic organism passage,
channel morphology and sedimentation. Silver
Creek is an important Brook Trout nursery and
refugia stream for the Paint River Wild and
Scenic River (WSR) system, which is about 2
miles downstream from the crossing. The WSR
is to be managed for good water quality and trout
fishing is an important component of the river's
recreation outstandingly remarkable value (ORV).
The existing structure is undersized, impeding
trout movement, creating instream erosion and
changing the channel morphology. Replacing the
structure with a bottomless arch will greatly
improve the situation in the immediate vacinity of
the crossing and ultimately benefit the
downstream WSR's ORV through improved trout
production and survival through access to nursery
and summer refugia sites.

project will replace existing twin 7'3" x 5'3" x 34'
CMPAs with a 24' x 7' x 16' Concrete Open
Bottom Arch, which would improve aquatic
organism passage, channel morphology and
sedimentation, while reducing the possibility of
trapping debris causing culvert failure. Sucker
Creek is an important Brook Trout stream for the
South Branch Ontonagon River, which is over
eight miles downstream from the crossing. It also
contains the RFSS mussel, creek heelsplitter, in
the general area of the crossing. The existing
structure consists of large side-by-side culverts
that splits the stream flow resulting in wide,
shallow flow during low flow periods (which
impedes trout movement), instream erosion
during high flows, and trapped debris, which risks
culvert stability. Replacing the existing structures
with an open bottom arch will greatly improve the
situation in the immediate vicinity of the crossing
