Clare Beighton – Adult Mental Health

                  Why do you wish to carry out this role?

                  I am passionate about service development and
                  improvement and committed to ensuring that as a Trust
                  we provide high quality services that meet the needs and
                  wishes of our service users. I have several years of
                  experience working in Adult Mental Health in a range of
                  roles that have given me a good understanding of the
                  issues facing clinicians and managers.

                  What skills do you feel you could bring to this role?

                  I have taken on a number of roles similar to that of Trust
                  Governor in other organisations. I therefore feel that I
                  have the skills and proven track record to communicate
                  effectively with those working in Adult Mental Health and
                  ensure their views are heard at a strategic level and make
                  sure that they are kept up to date with new developments
                  in the organisation.

                  What is your relationship/contact with the Trust?

                  I have worked for the Trust and its predecessors since
                  1996 and am currently employed as an OT in adult acute
                  mental health.

                  I would like the opportunity to represent all interested
                  groups, in the provision of services to people with
                  experience of severe and enduring mental health issues.

                  What skills do you feel you could bring to this role?

                  I hope I can contribute in a flexible and diligent role. I
                  would like to approach the given responsibilities with care
                  and open discussion.

                  What is your relationship/contact with the Trust?

                  I am employed as a care co-ordinator for the Assertive
                  Outreach Service based in Durham and Chester-le-Street.

                  I have worked in the NHS since 1982 and am registered
                  in Mental Health and General Nursing. I am currently
                  employed as Clinical Services Manager Sedgefield and
                  Wear Valley Mental Health Services for Older People.

                  My qualifications are:-

                  RMN
                  RGN
                  BSC (Hons) Open
                  MA (Independent Practice)
                  National Mental Health Nursing Leadership Programme.

Simon Hughes – Allied Health Professionals

                  Why do you wish to carry out this role?

                  This is a unique opportunity to participate in the
                  development of the Trust during a challenging period of
                  change. Allied Health Professionals offer a unique
                  contribution to individual’s rehabilitation, recovery and
                  wellbeing across all areas of our mental health and
                  learning disabilities services. This contribution in the
                  delivery of accountable high quality person centred care
                  needs to be understood in the context of the overall care
                  environment.

                  What skills do you feel you could bring to this role?

                  I have the necessary understanding of the diverse roles
                  of the Allied Health Professionals as well as recognising
                  the need to listen to colleagues and the people who use
                  our services. I have the leadership qualities, strategic
                  vision, analysis skills and the communication skills that
                  will enable me to be a capable representative.

                  What is your relationship/contact with the Trust?

                  I have worked in the Trust in its many incarnations since
                  1996. I am currently employed as a Consultant
                  Occupational Therapist in Rehabilitation and Recovery
                  Services.

Nigel Cooke – L D & Forensic

                  Why do you wish to carry out this role?

                  I am committed to the NHS and feel that Foundation Trust
                  status presents local people with an unprecedented
                  opportunity to take on board the responsibility of shaping
                  this NHS Trust into an organisation that meets the needs
                  of the local population. I am seeking election to the
                  Council of Governors because as a long serving staff
                  member, I have a wealth of experience and knowledge
                  that places me in a good position to contribute to the
                  direction of the Trust. I am passionate about making a
                  difference to the lives of those with learning disabilities.

                  What skills do you feel you could bring to this role?

                  Having been a chair of a school governing body for 10
                  years, I am well experienced at serving on committees
                  and speaking in public.
                  I have good people and listening skills.

                  What is your relationship/contact with the Trust?

                  I have been employed by this Trust and its predecessors
                  continually since 1984.
